Please note that your excerpt selection will depend on which orchestra you are auditioning for. Read the instructions for each excerpt carefully. Listen to numerous recordings to help your understanding of the excerpts and their context. Use YouTube, Naxos, Spotify, Idagio, etc. to find full recordings. Find scores and parts online at IMSLP.org to research the excerpt in depth. Please take any tempo markings provided as a guide in conjunction with your research. An excerpt played accurately under tempo is better than the same excerpt played poorly at a faster tempo. 2. 2. 2. 2. In your audition, this piece will be played without accompaniment. It is strongly advised that this piece be from within an established examination syllabus such as AMEB, Trinity College London or ABRSM. 3. 3. 3. 3. SCALES SCALES SCALES SCALES Strings may be asked to play the following major scales and arpeggios (3 octaves with spiccato and 2 other bowings of your choice) o Violins: G, A, Bb, o Violas/Cellos: C, D, Eb, o Basses: G, Ab, Bb.
