UPDATE REGARDING COVID-19

Dear Audio-Reader patron,

By now, we are all aware of the measures taken at the national, state and county level regarding the current global pandemic of COVID-19 coronavirus.

In compliance with the Governor Kelly’s “stay at home” order, Audio-Reader’s offices and studios in Lawrence are now closed to all volunteers and visitors until further notice.

Our programming team has been working hard to maintain our key services throughout this crisis, and our plans are to continue our Live Broadcast and Telephone Reader services with minimal interruption.

Our Special Request service is experiencing delays due to our lack of in-house program staff, and unfortunately Audio Description services are postponed due to the cancellation of all arts & cultural events with gatherings of over 10 people, per CDC guidelines.

Staff are coordinating operations from their homes and volunteers are reading remotely in order to continue to produce content for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In this time of transition, you may notice some temporary changes to our broadcast. These are outlined in the following pages.

It may also be necessary to make unscheduled changes to our programs at any given point, in light of the nature of the challenges ahead.

We will do our best to keep you informed of all programming changes as best we can, moving forward.

Audio-Reader will continue to operate through this crisis, and we are focused on our mission to provide information, news and entertainment in order to keep you connected, informed and operating with independence and safety in mind.

We sincerely hope you are staying safe during this time, washing your hands regularly and practicing social distancing.

We encourage you to utilize Audio-Reader to stay connected. We’ll be there for you.

Stay safe,

Dan Skinner

Director Audio-Reader Network
