ASHFIELD U3A – CLASSICAL MUSIC 2

At our April meeting we encountered the Arabian Nights, a film score, invading hordes, Cossacks, a battle and a limping waltz: in other words music by Russian composers. It will be German composers at our May session – and the possibilities are endless. We normally meet on the first Monday in the month, but in May and June they are bank holidays so we have moved to the second Monday – May 14th and June 11th. In July we’ll go back to the first Monday. Our programme is shaped by what the members want and there’s a standing invitation to bring your own CDs or tapes. Times:– 14.00 – 16.00 at the Ashwood Centre. We are not limited in numbers – we already have a dozen or more members - because we meet in the large room in the Ashwood Centre, which is comfortable with ample space. So if you’d like to share some of your favourite music with us, or listen to pieces you may not have heard before, or perhaps explore the world of classical music for the first time, do get in touch and come and join us.

Ron Walker 01623 456389 [email protected]

Your U3A Committee

We are looking for someone to help at meetings. If you feel you could help in any capacity, please inform Lynne Jackson, our Chair, as the present committee are fully stretched, particularly due to the illness of members. Any help with such as the Book Stall, refreshments; greeters; or making new members feel welcome. Also help with the catering at the many events we organise. Ashfield’s committee is quite a fun group, and nothing is onerous, but we always need a few ‘extra hands’ to help at events and meetings.

Please consider helping your committee in either of the above capacities.
