    * = Except at Cooks Beach/Ferry Landing, Opoutere and Te Karo Bay/Pumpkin Hill where more than one house on a lot is a non-complying activity unless at Cooks Beach! Ferry Landing the lot is capable of being subdivided as a controlled activity for one house on a lot, in which case, more than one house on a lot is a discretionary activity.

    = Housing is a controlled activity where required for management purposes, for example, huts, workers units, in the Conservation Zone.

    Note When applying for three or more houses on a lot, applicants may use either the rules and standards for "More Than One House per Lot" or "Three or More Houses as Comprehensive Developments" but not a combination o f these rules.

    In the Rural and Coastal Zones outside all Policy Areas only, the guests may, instead of being accommodated in part o f the house, be accommodated in "temporary living places", (refer definition) on the property, provided all the standards for home occupations are met. This means that up to 6 guests is a permitted activity, more than 6 but not more than 12 guests is a controlled activity, and more than 12 guests makes the activity a "Camping Ground", refer definition.
