www.atomium.be/kidsLa programmation de 2016 s’inscrit, une fois de plus, dans l’une des thématiques phare de l’Expo’58 qui fut à l’origine de l’Atomium : le rêve et l’utopie. Pour commencer, Modernika. Rêve belge d’une ville américaine, reviendra sur l’american way of life et ses gratte-ciels qui, de l’Expo’58 aux années 1980, influença de façon considérable l’architecture de la future Capitale de l’Europe. Puis, une partie de la structure intérieure de l’Atomium accueillera une installation numérique [son & lumière]. ID, pour Innovative Display, sera une création in-situ qui plongera le visiteur dans un univers qui mettra à contribution tous ses sens. Cette installa-tion célèbrera par la même occasion les 10 ans de la rénovation du monument. Enfin, Sabena. Voyager glamour, ravivera les heures glorieuses de la compagnie aérienne nationale belge, du temps où prendre l’avion faisait rêver et constituait le top du glamour.

De programmatie van 2016 staat opnieuw in het teken van één van de hoofdthema’s van Expo 58 dat aan de basis ligt van het Atomium: de droom en de utopie. Om te beginnen blikt Modernika. Belgische droom van een Amerikaanse stad terug op de Ameri-can way of life en zijn wolkenkrabbers, van Expo 58 tot de jaren 1980, die de architectuur van de toekomstige hoofdstad van Europa sterk beïnvloedde. Voorts zal een deel van het Atomium als decor dienen voor een digitale installatie (klank & beeld). ID, voor Innovative Display, zal een in-situ creatie zijn die de bezoekers onderdompelt in een universum dat alle zintuigen aanspreekt. Deze installatie viert ook de 10de verjaardag van de renovatie van het monument. Tenslotte zal Sabena. Glamour reizen de gloriejaren van de Belgische nationale luchtvaart-maatschappij oproepen, toen het vliegtuig nemen deed dromen en het toppunt van glamour was.

The schedule for 2016 is once more based on one of the key themes of Expo ’58, and one which lies at the heart of the Ato-mium’s creation: ideals and utopia. To start with, Modernika. Belgian dream of an American city, will revisit the American way of life and its skyscrapers. These had a considerable influence on the architecture of the future capital of Europe from Expo ’58 to the 1980s. Later, an area inside the Atomium will be used for a digital installation (a son-et-lumière event). ID (Innovative Display), will be an in-situ creation that will plunge visitors into a remarkable universe, providing them with a full sensory experience. At the same time, this installation will mark the 10-year anniversary of the Atomium’s renovation. Finally, Sabena. Glamour travels, will re-live the glorious years of Belgium’s national airline, recalling an age when flying fired the imagination and represented the ultimate in glamour.

L’Art & Design Atomium Museum [ADAM], nouvelle adresse cultu-relle bruxelloise, explore des thématiques touchant au design et à l’art, du XXème siècle à aujourd’hui, à travers son exposition permanente, le Plasticarium, et ses expositions temporaires. Eames et Hollywood inauguera la saison en dévoilant l’une des facettes méconnues du couple de designers Ray et Charles Eames : celle de chroniqueurs de leur temps. Muni d’un appareil photographique, ils ont notamment immortalisé l’envers des décors des plateaux hollywoodiens de Billy Wilder. Puis, ça sera une collection privée dédiée au Nouveau Réa-lisme , à la Figuration Narrative et au Pop’Art qui sera mise à l’honneur ARTVIEW#4. A private collection. Enfin, INTERSECTIONS#4. Belgian design, fruit d’une collaboration avec le Centre d’Innovation et de Design [CID] au Grand Hornu, clôtura l’année. À travers une sélection de ses dernières acquisitions, le CID partagera ses méthodes, ses défis et ses coups de cœur.

Het Art & Design Atomium Museum [ADAM], een nieuw cultuur-adres in Brussel, verkent thema’s op het vlak van design en kunst, van de 20ste eeuw tot nu, via een permanente tentoonstelling, het Plasticarium, en tijdelijke tentoonstellingen. Het seizoen wordt inge-luid door Eames en Hollywood, waarbij een van de minder bekende facetten van het designerskoppel Ray en Charles Eames wordt belicht: die van chroniqueurs van hun tijd. Gewapend met een fototoestel vereeuwigden ze de decors van de filmsets in Hollywood van Billy Wilder. Vervolgens richt ARTVIEW#4. A private collection de spot-lights op de collectie gewijd aan de Nieuwe Realisten, de Narratieve Figuratie en aan de Pop’Art. Het jaar wordt afgesloten met INTER-SECTIONS#4. Belgian design, vrucht van een samenwerking met het Centre d’Innovation et de Design [CID] van le Grand Hornu. Via een selectie van zijn laatste aanwinsten vertelt het CID over zijn methodes, uitdagingen en favorieten.

The Art and Design Atomium Museum [ADAM], is a new cultural venue for Brussels. Through its permanent exhibition, the Plasticar-ium, and its temporary exhibitions, it explores themes related to art and design from the 20th century to the present day. The season will be inaugurated with Eames and Hollywood, revealing one of the least-known aspects of the designer couple Ray and Charles Eames, as chroniclers of their times. Armed with a camera, they immortalized life behind the scenes of Billy Wilder’s Hollywood film sets. Later, a private collection dedicated to New Realism, Narrative Figuration and Pop’Art will take centre stage with ARTVIEW#4. A private collection. And finally, INTERSECTIONS#4. Belgian design, the fruit of a collabo-ration with the Centre d’Innovation et de Design [CID] from the Grand-Hornu, will bring the year to a close. Through a selection of its most recent acquisitions, the CID will be sharing its approach, its challenges and its prized pieces.
