using your l ibr@ryGetting Your Library CardLibrary cards are free of charge to anyone who lives, owns property,works or goes to school full time in the City of Vaughan. You can joinVaughan Public Libraries in person at any branch and online atwww.vaughanpl.info.

Whether you apply for your library card inperson or online, you will need to bring oneof the following to verify your information:

• proof of your home address in Vaughan

• registration at a school or college inVaughan, or

• proof of employment in Vaughan

Children can get their own library cards. If they are 13 years old orunder, the parent or guardian is required to sign the child's library card. Ifyou don't qualify for free membership as described above, you can stilljoin VPL. Please phone any of the branches for details.

Visitors to VPLYou don't have to have a library card to visit branches of Vaughan PublicLibraries to consult library staff or use the print collections on site. If youdon’t have a card and wish to use the library's electronic resources,please bring with you valid identification, including your address (e.g. your driver's licence).

Library Services All branches have materials for reference and loan. The mostcomprehensive reference collections are held at Bathurst Clark ResourceLibrary and the Pierre Berton Resource Library. Books, DVDs, videosand CDs are all available in many languages to meet the needs of ourdiverse community.

Books are also available in large print and as audio books. CommunityLibrary Link is a service to facilitate borrowing for people who aretemporarily or permanently homebound.

Vaughan Public Libraries now offers a new and convenient Books by Mailservice. For a fee of $6 per shipment, your items will be sent right toyour doorstep. For more information, please visitwww.vaughanpl.info/services/mail_delivery or call 905-653-READ(7323).

Qualified staff are always on site in each library to assist you in yoursearch for information. They are also available to advise on leisurereading or on materials appropriate to your child's reading abilities.

Some libraries have study rooms available for groups or individual studyand all libraries have meeting rooms available for booking by the public.Pierre Berton Resource Library has both a boardroom and a trainingsuite available for rent. Details of all these services are available fromthe libraries and on the website.

All libraries provide free access to the Internet and to PCs equipped withMicrosoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Wireless access is available in alllibraries. CD-ROM stations are available for pre-schoolers to learn basiccomputer and literacy skills.

Each library has black and white photocopiers. Colour photocopiers are available at the Resource Libraries.

Library Services by Phone Telephone service is available at each branch during open hours.Qualified staff will answer your information and reference inquiries,check your account on your behalf and give details of library services andprograms.

New for 2011, VPL is pleased to announce the introduction of a Cinema collection at a third location.In addition to Bathurst Clark Resource Library andPierre Berton Resource Library, Maple Library will nowhouse a collection of foreign and independent films onDVD. The cinema collection focuses on the works ofmaster directors from all around the world and filmsnot made by the major studios or with big Hollywoodbudgets. This collection is a definite must for all seriouscinephiles!

To see a complete list of titles, simply:

choose “Advanced Search”4. Select “Series Title” field and enter “cinema

Organizing a training day or need space for a large meeting? Check out VPL.Meeting Room space is available for rent at all branches of VPL. Select from boardroom style, classroom style or theatre style set up ofmeeting room facilities. In addition to this available space, the Pierre Berton Resource Library offers Boardroom and Training Suite facilities which support presentations and training sessions.

BOARDROOM: The Boardroom seats 18 at the table but the room can accommodate an additional 12 chairs placed around the room. An optional IT package is available which includesan LCD projector, screen and Internet hook-up. The Boardroom also includes a kitchenette for refreshments.

TRAINING SUITE:The Training Suite has eight computer workstations and is fully equipped with a non-optional IT package that includes a SmartBoard, LCD projector, screen, Internethook-up and printer.

Organizing a training day or need space for a large meeting? Check out VPL.Meeting Room space is available for rent at all branches of VPL. Select from boardroom style, classroom style or theatre style set up ofmeeting room facilities. In addition to this available space, the Pierre Berton Resource Library offers Boardroom and Training Suite facilities which support presentations and training sessions.

BOARDROOM: The Boardroom seats 18 at the table but the room can accommodate an additional 12 chairs placed around the room. An optional IT package is available which includesan LCD projector, screen and Internet hook-up. The Boardroom also includes a kitchenette for refreshments.

TRAINING SUITE:The Training Suite has eight computer workstations and is fully equipped with a non-optional IT package that includes a SmartBoard, LCD projector, screen, Internethook-up and printer.

The cinema collection focuses on the works ofmaster directors from all around the world and filmsnot made by the major studios or with big Hollywoodbudgets. Children can get their own library cards. If they are 13 years old orunder, the parent or guardian is required to sign the child's library card. Ifyou don't qualify for free membership as described above, you can stilljoin VPL. Please phone any of the branches for details.

Visitors to VPLYou don't have to have a library card to visit branches of Vaughan PublicLibraries to consult library staff or use the print collections on site. If youdon’t have a card and wish to use the library's electronic resources,please bring with you valid identification, including your address (e.g. your driver's licence).

Library Services All branches have materials for reference and loan. The mostcomprehensive reference collections are held at Bathurst Clark ResourceLibrary and the Pierre Berton Resource Library. Books, DVDs, videosand CDs are all available in many languages to meet the needs of ourdiverse community.

Books are also available in large print and as audio books. CommunityLibrary Link is a service to facilitate borrowing for people who aretemporarily or permanently homebound.

Vaughan Public Libraries now offers a new and convenient Books by Mailservice. For a fee of $6 per shipment, your items will be sent right toyour doorstep. For more information, please visitwww.vaughanpl.info/services/mail_delivery or call 905-653-READ(7323).

Qualified staff are always on site in each library to assist you in yoursearch for information. They are also available to advise on leisurereading or on materials appropriate to your child's reading abilities.

Some libraries have study rooms available for groups or individual studyand all libraries have meeting rooms available for booking by the public.Pierre Berton Resource Library has both a boardroom and a trainingsuite available for rent. Details of all these services are available fromthe libraries and on the website.

All libraries provide free access to the Internet and to PCs equipped withMicrosoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Wireless access is available in alllibraries. CD-ROM stations are available for pre-schoolers to learn basiccomputer and literacy skills.

Each library has black and white photocopiers. Colour photocopiers are available at the Resource Libraries.

Library Services by Phone Telephone service is available at each branch during open hours.Qualified staff will answer your information and reference inquiries,check your account on your behalf and give details of library services andprograms.
