The Big Draw The Atkins Gallery hosted a successful Big Draw event thisautumn as part of the Campaign for Drawing initiativeusing this year’s title ‘Every Drawing Tells a Story’.

The Big Draw saw a tremendous turnout from over theOctober half term with specially commissioned factorycolouring scenes by a local artist based on actualphotographs giving families the opportunity to colour in

huge images of factory life whilst reminiscing about Hinckley’s heritage.

Alongside the Big Draw was the Fully Fashioned Memories exhibition a 200+photograph collection of the everyday person who worked at Atkins factoriesand stories from the way we used to live, work and the impact he factories hadon the local community. The Big Draw and Fully Fashioned Memoriesexhibition was so popular it was extended by a week to accommodate nearly100 schoolchildren from St Mary’s Primary School who were learning aboutVictorians and local factories like Atkins Building role in the IndustrialRevolution and working conditions for Victorian Children.

For more information on The Big Draw and the campaign for Drawing visit thewebsite http://www.thebigdraw.org and to see the development of theFactory Colouring Scenes please see Atkins Building’s Facebook page.

EXCLUSIVE OFFERS from businesses based at Atkins Building

Learn something new thiswinter...In my work I hear a great deal aboutpeople’s strong dislike of the wintermonths. There almost seems to be acollective sense of dread, loneliness,lethargy... Many people are, at least inpart, ‘on-hold’ whilst ‘waiting’ for bettertimes.

How about setting your intention tolearn something new this winter?Mindfulness is wonderful because itteaches us to be much more ok withlife as it is. As it is now. Not just whenspring comes. Or when it stops raining. It teaches us to approach life in adifferent way. It teaches us to let go ofthe obsession with wanting everythingto be different to what it is.

Throughout the winter months I willbe running wonderful MindfulnessTaster Sessions, courses and classes. Some amazing people attend thesesessions. A sense of camaraderiedevelops amongst participants andthe sessions always uplift our spirits. So come along to The Atkins thiswinter and experience an hour or soof good company and calmness.
