Save the Date for the Executive Functioning Workshops! Dr. Ridgely and Mr. Tobin will present Executive Functions for Elementary School Students, a two-part training for parents, on April 20th and May 4th at 6:30 pm in the media center. These workshops will provide parents with strategies for helping their children develop self-control, manage frustration, develop flexibility, and develop organization skills. HCPSS will hold a series of Vision 2018 Listen and Learn Sessions with stakeholder
groups to gain feedback on the school system’s strategic plan, Vision 2018: Fulfilling the
Promise of Preparation.
Parents and community members are invited to sessions on Tuesday, April 5, 6:30-8
p.m., at Marriotts Ridge High School and on Monday, April 11, 6:30-8 p.m., at Oakland
Mills High School. No registration is required; attend either session.
April is the Month of the Military Child
On April 15th we will participate in “Purple Up! For Military Kids. We will wear purple
to show support for our military and veteran children and to thank them for their strength
and sacrifices while their service member parents serve the nation.
Upcoming Celebration – Spring Fling: Thursday April 28th The Related Arts team is organizing the Spring Fling celebration for students on Thursday April 24th. Each grade level will participate in a variety of activities during their grade’s designated Related Arts time on the 24th. The Related Arts schedule has changed for this day because of PARCC. The schedule is as follows: 9:20-10:20-4th Grade 12:35-1:35-Kindergarten 10:35-11:35-2nd Grade 1:35-2:35-1st Grade 11:35-12:35-5th Grade 2:35-3:35-3rd Grade We will need several parent volunteers to help at each station collecting tickets, distributing prizes, and overseeing the activities. There are two time slots for volunteers, including Grades 3-5 from 9:20am – 12:20pm and Grades K-2 from 12:35pm – 3:35pm. Full day volunteers should bring a bagged lunch. you believe how fast the school year has gone by? It has gone by so fast, that we almost
missed the start of election season for the OMMS PTSA. The Nomination Committee
has started its yearly task of drumming up excited, motivated parents to participate in
next year’s PTSA. We are looking for individuals interested in holding a leadership
position for the 2016-2017 school year. If you are interested and would like to know

A note from the health room…. Spring is in the air and so is the pollen…it might be time to start your child’s allergy medication routine. Remember to contact the HEALTH ROOM staff with a note . . .
IF your child was diagnosed with a communicable disease such as influenza, strep throat, fifth disease, etc. (Information is used to track illness trends.)
IF your child needs to come to school with crutches, a splint/cast and/or has physical activity restrictions.
IF your child has a medical condition that requires medicine or treatment during school hours.
IF you have treated your child because of head lice. (Proof of treatment is required, either a note from the pediatrician, or the label/box from the treatment used at home.)
PARCC Testing in April and May
Students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 will take part in the PARCC assessments on the following dates. Please do not schedule appointments on these mornings. It is very important that students are in school for the assessments (unless they are sick) so they don’t miss instruction when making up missed sessions. Testing will take place in the morning.

Tickets are now on sale for "Cinderella Stories On Ice"! Ian Lorello, International Ice
Dance Competitor will be performing the role of the Prince. Ian currently teaches locally
and works with The Next Ice Age and Nathan Birch’s Men Skating. Julia Choi, National

Hammond High Summer Camps Hammond Boosters Camps! Sign up now for Hammond HS Boosters sports and activities camps for incoming 6th thru 9th graders. Camps run from mid-May thru beginning of August. Signups and information is located at www.hammondboosters.org/camps/ These programs offer a great opportunity for your student to get to know the high school coaches, learn some skills, and experience a little of the high school sports experience. PLEASE NOTE - Basketball, wrestling and volleyball camps are held in evenings in May or June. All other camps (Band, Baseball, Cheerleading, Football, Soccer) will be mornings during the summer break (June, July or August). Wrestling will accept elementary and middle school aged campers. Camp admission includes an exclusive Hammond Golden Bears t-shirt. Ranker’s Sports Camp Come out to Reservoir High School for Ranker's Sports Camp July 18-22. The camp is designed for rising 3rd-9th graders and features multiple sports everyday! Flag football, kickball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, team handball and Lithuanian ball are just a few of the sports we will play. Coach Phil Ranker is a physical education
