The majority of buildings are accessible to guests weekdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. while classes are in session, with the exceptions of residence halls.

Campus OverviewCampus Overview: Founded in 1826, Fredonia’s oldest majors are education and music. Currently students can choose from 80 majors and 50 minors. Campus sits upon 249 beautifully maintained acres just ten minutes away from the shores of Lake Erie. Fredonia is only a fifty-minute drive from the city of Buffalo, an hour and a half from Niagara Falls, and two hours from Cleveland Ohio, making it perfectly positioned for students who enjoy the quiet and family oriented small town feel while still having access to large urban areas.

Student Centers/Dining Williams Center The Williams Center is one of our student centers on campus. It is a frequent meeting and event space for our over 170 clubs and organizations and a great spot to grab food. It houses a Tim Hortons Café, Fredonia’s Center Pointe Café, Ticket Office for bus transportation and on-campus events, Campus Life, and Lake Shore Kiosk for those students who wish to bank locally.

University Commons Another great meeting place for Fredonia students is the University Commons. This facility includes Cranston Marche, Fredonia’s all you can eat dining option, the campus book store, Fredonia’s Convenience Store and Starbucks. It also includes one of our most popular upperclassmen residence halls.

Academic Buildings Science Center Completed in 2014, the Fredonia Science Center boasts the most well equipped facility in the SUNY system, with over 4.2 million dollars in new instrumentation. Some of the building highlights include learning and collaboration alcoves, molecular and genetics instrumentation rooms, florescent microscopy lab, an exercise physiology suite, greenhouse and an observatory. The Science Center houses majors within the Biological and Chemical Sciences.

Houghton Hall Currently under construction, Houghton will be an extension of the Science Center, and will house Physics, Engineering, Geology and Environmental Sciences, and Computer and Information Sciences. Completion is slated for 2021.

Jewett Hall Opened in 1962, this building was dedicated to Franklin Jewett, a science teacher from 1886-1931. Jewett Hall is currently home to Physics, Engineering, Geology and Environmental Sciences. A special feature of Jewett Hall is Fredonia’s planetarium.

Thompson Hall Opened in 1973, Thompson Hall is home to the departments of Socioculural and Justice Sciences, Psychology, The College of Education, School of Business, and Communications Disorders & Sciences. It is also houses the Youngerman Center for Communication Disorders. The Youngerman Center serves over 1,000 patients each year, and provides hands on clinical experience to our Communication Disorder students.

Fenton Hall Fenton Hall opened in 1953 and named after state governor and Fredonia graduate, Rueben E. Fenton. In this hall, you will find the departments of English, World Languages & Cultures, Mathematical Sciences, Computer & Information Sciences and Philosophy.

Mason Hall Mason Hall opened in 1941 and underwent a series of renovations 2004-2010. These renovations include a beautiful state-of-the-art 500-seat recital hall, expanded sound recording technology studios and labs, as well as acoustically modified large rehearsal spaces. Mason also has over 100 practice rooms which are available to music and non-music majors. It is home to programs in Music Performance, Music Education, Music Therapy, Music Composition, Sound Recording Technology, and hosts over 350 performances each year.

Rockefeller Arts Center Fredonia’s newly renovated Rockefeller Arts Center houses the Department of Visual Arts and New Media, and Theatre and Dance. It is a major cultural center for western New York and northwestern Pennsylvania. It boasts a 1200 seat concert hall, two theatres, two art galleries, art studios for multiple mediums, dance/acting studios, scene and costume shops, and state-of-the-art graphic design labs. More than 200 performances and exhibitions are presented each year.

McEwen Hall McEwen Hall contains computer labs, Fredonia’s award winning radio station, lecture halls and most importantly the Reed Library. The Reed Library consists of 4 floors and over 300,000 books. It is also where students will find the Registrars Office, Disability Support Services, Academic Advising and the Learning Center, where students can receive free peer tutoring.

AthleticsSteele Hall Steele Hall houses Fredonia’s beautiful Natatorium, an eight lane pool with a diving tank with one and three meter boards. It also contains our indoor track Field House, and Ice Arena.

Dods Hall Fredonia has 19 Division III Varsity sports teams. You’ll find them getting fit in Dods Hall where they have their own strength and conditions gym. In addition you’ll find the Blue Devil Fitness Center, open to all students, faculty and staff, as well as our Dods Basketball Court.

Residence LifeFredonia has 14 residence halls, and offers a variety of corridor and suite-style living. We also have a gender inclusive option, providing a living environment welcoming to all gender identities.
