group they were on November 01, 2019.

Sitara Atfal 7 – 8 years of Age

Hilal Atfal 9 – 10 years of Age

Qamar Atfal 11 – 12 years of Age

Badar Atfal 13 – 15 years of Age

English Extempore

Speech (For all age groups separately)

» Each participating Tifl will be given a topic on the spot and

has 3 min to prepare a speech about it. Speech duration is

maximum of 3 minutes. The Tifl will be provided pen and

paper to prepare notes.

Team Trivia

» All questions will be asked from the book “Religious

Knowledge for Atfal” [Prepare questions for your age

group]– available at www.atfalusa.org/ijtemasyllabus

» This competition will be conducted individually on Local

and Regional levels. The best Sitara, Hilal, Qamar & Badar

Tifl from each Region will qualify for participation on

National Level as part of the Regional Team.

» The National Level competition will be conducted between

Regional groups

» In case of tie between individuals / teams, additional

questions might be asked which are not part of “Religious

Knowledge for Atfal” Booklet.

Message Relay (For all age groups together)

» Groups of 4 – 5 Atfal are formed.

» A message is conveyed to the first Tifl in the group. He has

to relay the message to the next group member (one by

one), until it reaches the last Tifl.

» The last Tifl writes down the message he has received.

» The team which is able to relay the original message as

accurately as possible wins.

» Wining team qualifies for participation at National Ijtema

Observation &

Memory Test (For all age groups together)

» Each Tifl is shown a set of items for a few minutes, e.g. 20

items shown for 3 minutes.

» Afterwards the Tifl is given a pen and paper and has to

write down as many items from memory as he

remembers.

» Tifl remembering most items wins.

Recitation of Holy Qur’an and Poem Competitions:

No points are taken away, if the text is read/not memorized.

For Speeches:

Select one of the 3 topics. The maximum speech duration is 2 min.

for Sitara & Hilal Groups and 3 min. for Qamar & Badar Groups. It

is not required that the Tifl knows the speech fully from memory

(can bring notes). The Tifl should practice the speech so that he is

able to maintain eye contact with the audience most of the time.

Essay:

Select one of the two provided topics. Essay should not be longer

than 700 words. Please submit essay with Tifl Name, Majlis,

Age/Age Group to [email protected] - submission deadline is:

June 10th, 2020.

Note for Local / Regional Ijtema:

For competitions requiring Regional Qualification: The top 3

positions per age group from each region qualify (unless

otherwise stated). Names of regional winners MUST be submitted

by April 15th, 2020 via email to [email protected].

Transliteration: Allah humma inna nasta-eenoka wa nastagh-firuka wa nu’minu bika wa natawakkalu alaika wa nusni alaikal khair, wa nashkuruka wala nakfuruka wa nakhla-oo wa natruku mai yaf-juruka, Allah humma iyyaka na’budu wa laka nusalli wa nasjudu wa ilaika nas aaa wa nahfizu wa narju rahma taka wa nakh-shaa azaa-baka inna azaabaka bil kuffari mulhiku.

Translation:

O Allah! We beseech Your help and ask Your forgiveness and believe in You and trust in You and praise You in the best manner; and we thank You and we not ungrateful to You, and we cast off and forsake him who disobeys You. O Allah! You alone do we worship and to You alone do we pray and we prostrate ourselves; and we rush to You and present ourselves, and we hope for Your mercy and we fear Your chastisement, for surely, Your chastisement overtakes the disbelievers.

Transliteration:

Allah humma inna nasta-eenoka wa nastagh-firuka wa nu’minu bika wa natawakkalu alaika wa nusni alaikal khair, wa nashkuruka wala nakfuruka wa nakhla-oo wa natruku mai yaf-juruka, Allah humma iyyaka na’budu wa laka nusalli wa nasjudu wa ilaika nas aaa wa nahfizu wa narju rahma taka wa nakh-shaa azaa-baka inna azaabaka bil kuffari mulhiku.

Translation:

O Allah! We beseech Your help and ask Your forgiveness and believe in You and trust in You and praise You in the best manner; and we thank You and we not ungrateful to You, and we cast off and forsake him who disobeys You. O Allah! You alone do we worship and to You alone do we pray and we prostrate ourselves; and we rush to You and present ourselves, and we hope for Your mercy and we fear Your chastisement, for surely, Your chastisement overtakes the disbelievers.

Transliteration: Allah humagh fir li hayeenaa wa mayee-tina wa shaahi-dina wa gaa-ee-binaa wa sageerina wa kabeerina wa zakarina wa unsaanaa Allah huma man ahyai ta hoo mi’nna fa ahyeehi al-al islaami Wa man ta waf faitahu mi’nna fa ta waf’fa hu al-al ee maani Allah huma la tahrimnaa ajra hu wa la taf ti’nna ba’da hu

Translation: O Allah! Forgive our living ones and our deceased ones; and those of us who are present and those of us who are absent; and our young ones and our old ones; and our males and our females; O Allah! Those of us whom you grant life, keep them firm on Islam; and those of us whom You cause to die, cause them to die in the faith. Deprive us not, O Allah, of the benefits relating to him (the deceased) and subject us not to trials after him.
