    Dr. Darlie Koshy Selected for Holden Medal Award

    Dr. Darlie O Koshy, DG & CEO ATDC & IAM has been

    unanimously selected by the Governing Council of The Textile

    Institute for The Textile Institute Holden Medal for Education.

    An award given in recognition of outstanding contribution to

    technology-based education at all levels, the Holden Medal is

    being offered to Dr. Koshy, will be presented to him at a formal

    presentation at The Textile Institute World Conference Awards

    Dinner in Poznan, Poland on April 28.

    Originally inaugurated in 1992 by the Clothing and Footwear

    Institute (CFI) International, this award is conferred only on an

    institute member.

    An visionary educationist, and persuasive administrator, Dr.

    Koshy is well known for transforming several educational institutions like the National Institute of Design

    (NID), Ahmedabad, where he served as the Director for two terms of office for almost a decade (2000-

    2009). Dr. Koshy is credited with the formulation of National Design Policy, which was approved by the

    Government Of India in February, 2007, and also for his well-known campaign Designed in India, Made

    for the World, which powered India into Design Leadership position among developing economies. He

    has been heading the ATDC (Apparel Training & Design Centre) & IAM (Institute Of Apparel

    Management) under the aegis of AEPC as its DG & CEO for the past 6 years.

    Dr. Koshy is a PhD from IIT-Delhi and a rank-holder in MBA from CUSAT having also been trained in FIT,

    New York as a founding faculty member of NIFT. Dr. Koshy has authored three books, including

    the Indian Design Edge. He has twice been named (2006 & 2008) as one of 50 leaders shaping Indian

    Higher Education. Dr. Koshy has served as Chairman of Curricula Committees set up by AICTE under

    HRD Ministry of GOI and NCVT/DGE&T under Ministry of Labour and Employment and currently serves

    as the Chairman of Mentor Council for Textile/Apparel Sectors constituted by the Ministry of Labour &

    Employment. Dr. Darlie Koshy also serves on the Advisory Board of Lakme Fashion Week and on the

    Boards of leading Corporates/Universities/Institutes.

    Dr. Koshy Selected For The Holden Medal

    The prestigious Holden Medal for Education is given bi-annually by The Textile Institute,

    Manchester, UK.

    Dr. Koshy is the second Indian to win this prestigious International Award.

    Dr. Koshy, DG & CEO, ATDC and IAM was the Founding Head of Fashion Management at

    NIFT (1987-2000) and was at the helm of NID, Ahmedabad as the Director (and Governing

    Council Member) for almost a decade (2000-2009).

    Dr. Darlie Koshy has been working as DG & CEO of ATDC with about 200 Centres and IAM

    with its Campus in Gurgaon since January 2009 until now. N educator par excellence, he has a

    Doctorate from IIT Delhi in Management. He is a rank holder in MBA from CUSAT, Kochi.

    Dr. Darlie Koshy undertook specialised training at FIT, New York in the area of International

    Fashion Marketing.

    The Holden Medal for Education, by The Textile Institute,

    member only.

    Expressing his pleasure on the selection for the prestigious Holden Medal for Education. Dr. Darlie

    Koshy, DG and CEO ATDC & IAM said, I am delighted to be selected for the Holden Medal for

    Education by The Textile Institute, UK which is truly an International recognition. No single

    individual can claim the ownership of ideas and transformation of Institutions like NID or NIFT or

    ATDC and IAM where I have spent nearly 3 decades. The Institutions are bigger than the people. Yes,

    I feel indeed happy and honoured that I have got the opportunities when I did for the contributions I

    have made in Education especially in the areas of design, fashion and management education.

    and accolades including IIT Alumni award for contribution to Nation development and the Indian Star

    of solidarity and the OGTC Path Breaker Award, 2014 etc. From the beginning of his stint at ATDC he

    has focused on the idea skilling to reach the youth and disadvantaged section of society and scaling up

    quality Vocational Skill based education has been a passion for him. Dr. Koshy hails from Chengannur

    at CUSAT, Kochi. After initially working with Karnataka State Handlooms and later at Hantex (the

    Kerala State Apex Handloom Cooperative) as its Chief Marketing Manager, he became the MD of the

    Kerala State Handloom Development Corporation during the late 80s.He moved to the National level

    as the General Manager of National Handloom Development Corporation in Lucknow and then to

    NIFT, New Delhi to expand his horizons.

    since he undertook the stewardship of ATDC the institute has grown in size and scale tremendously

    Dr Darlie Koshy selected for prestigious Holden Medal award

    ATDC DG&CEO Dr (Prof) Darlie O Koshy has been unanimously selected by the Governing Council of

    An visionary educationist, and persuasive administrator, Dr Koshy is well known for transforming several

    educational institutions like the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, where he served as the

    Director for two terms of office for almost a decade (2000-2009). Dr Koshy is credited with the formulation

    of National Design Policy, which was approved by the Government Of India in February, 2007, and also

    for his well-known campaign Designed in India, Made for the World, which powered India into Design

    Leadership position among developing economies. He has been heading the ATDC (Apparel Training &

    Design Centre) & IAM (Institute Of Apparel Management) under the aegis of AEPC as its DG & CEO for

    the past 5 to 6 years.

    Dr Koshy is a PhD from IIT-Delhi and a rank-holder in MBA from CUSAT having also been trained in FIT,

    New York as a founding faculty member of NIFT. Dr Koshy has authored three books, including the Indian

    Design Edge. He has twice been named (2006 & 2008) as one of 50 leaders shaping Indian Higher Education.

    Dr. Koshy has served as Chairman of Curricula Committees set up by AICTE under HRD Ministry of GOI

    and NCVT/ DGE&T under Ministry of Labour and Employment and currently serves as the Chairman of

    Mentor Council for Textile / Apparel Sectors constituted by the Ministry of Labour & Employment. Dr.

    Darlie Koshy also serves on the Advisory Board of Lakme Fashion Week and on the Boards of leading

    Kottayam in Kerala; Dr. Darlie Koshy had completed his formal education in Kerala. After completing his

    schooling he did his graduation in University College, Thiruvananthapuram and MBA at CUSAT, Kochi.

    After initially working with Karnataka State Handlooms and later at Hantex (the Kerala State Apex

    Handloom Cooperative) as its Chief Marketing Manager, he became the MD of the Kerala State Handloom

    Development Corporation during the late 80s.He moved to the National level as the General Manager of

    National Handloom Development Corporation in Lucknow and then to NIFT, New Delhi to expand his

    horizons.

    He was the Director, National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad for two terms. He was also the Founding

    Head of Fashion Management at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). Ever since he undertook

    The prestigious Holden Medal for Education is given bi-annually by The Textile Institute,

    Manchester, UK.

    Dr. Koshy is the second Indian to win this prestigious International Award.

    Vocational Skill based education has been a passion for him. Dr. Koshy hails from Chengannur near

    Kottayam in Kerala; Dr. Darlie Koshy had completed his formal education in Kerala. After completing his

    schooling he did his graduation in University College, Thiruvananthapuram and MBA at CUSAT, Kochi.

    After initially working with Karnataka State Handlooms and later at Hantex(the Kerala State Apex

    Handloom Cooperative) as its Chief Marketing Manager, he became the MD of the Kerala State

    Handloom Development Corporation during the late 80s.He moved to the National level as the General

    Manager of National Handloom Development Corporation in Lucknow and then to NIFT, New Delhi to

    expand his horizons.

    He was the Director, National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad for two terms. He was also the Founding

    Head of Fashion Management at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). Ever since he undertook

    the stewardship of ATDC the institute has grown in size and scale tremendously across India which at one

    point crossing 200 Centres across 125 Cities and 23 States having trained 2,50,000 Candidates in 5 years.

    Dr. Koshy Selected For The Holden Medal

    The prestigious Holden Medal for Education is given bi-annually by The Textile Institute,

    Manchester, UK.

    Dr. Koshy is the second Indian to win this prestigious International Award.

    Dr. Koshy, DG & CEO, ATDC and IAM was the Founding Head of Fashion Management at NIFT

    (1987-2000) and was at the helm of NID, Ahmedabad as the Director (and Governing Council

    Member) for almost a decade (2000-2009).

    Dr. Darlie Koshy has been working as DG & CEO of ATDC with about 200 Centres and IAM with

    its Campus in Gurgaon since January 2009 until now. n educator par excellence, he has a Doctorate

    from IIT Delhi in Management. He is a rank holder in MBA from CUSAT, Kochi.

    Dr. Darlie Koshy undertook specialised training at FIT, New York in the area of International

    Fashion Marketing.

    The Holden Medal for Education, by The Textile Institute,

    Manchester, UK will be conferred on Dr. Darlie Koshy, DG

    and CEO ATDC (Apparel Training & Design and Centre)

    and IAM (Institute of Apparel Management), for his

    outstanding contributions in technology based education at

    the levels. Dr. Koshy will be conferred the award at The

    Textile Institute World Conference Award Dinner in Poznan,

    Poland on 28th April 16.

    The Textile Institute was founded in the year 1910 and was

    chartered by the British Government in 1925.The Institute has Individual and Corporate members in

    upto 80 countries; membership covers all sectors and all disciplines in textiles say management, art,

    design, fashion, economics, science, engineering, research, production, marketing, selling, retailing,

    education and training etc. The award is made to an institute member only.

    Expressing his pleasure on the selection for the prestigious Holden Medal for Education. Dr. Darlie

    Koshy, DG and CEO ATDC & IAM said, I am delighted to be selected for the Holden Medal for

    Education by The Textile Institute, UK which is truly an International recognition. No single

    individual can claim the ownership of ideas and transformation of Institutions like NID or NIFT or

    ATDC and IAM where I have spent nearly 3 decades. The Institutions are bigger than the people. Yes,

    I feel indeed happy and honoured that I have got the opportunities when I did for the contributions I

    have made in Education especially in the areas of design ,fashion and management education.

    Dr Koshy has been an educationist par excellence and has been a recipient of many prestigious awards

    and accolades including IIT Alumni award for contribution to Nation development and the Indian Star

    of solidarity and the OGTC Path Breaker Award, 2014 etc. From the beginning of his stint at ATDC he
