Disassembly Procedure Please follow the information provided in this section to perform the complete disassembly procedure of the notebook. Be sure to use proper tools described before.

SUS M70VM/R Notebook consists of various modules. This chapter describes the procedures for the complete notebook disassembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed disassembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your service needs.

The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps: • Battery Module • CPU Module • Wireless LAN Module • Memory Module • HDD Module • ODD Module • Keyboard Module • Top Case Module • Motherboard Module • Bottom Case Module • LCD Module

Battery Module The illustration below shows how to remove the battery module. Remove Battery Module Hold the latch when removing the battery.

CPU Module The illustrations below show how to remove the CPU module from the notebook. Remove CPU Module 1. Remove 6 screws (M2*4) on bottom case and remove the CPU cover.

2. Disconnect the fan cable.

3. Remove 2 screws (M2*4) on CPU fan and take the fan away. Then remove 4 screws (M2*4) on the heat sink and take it away.

4. Turn the non-removable screw here 180 degrees counter-clockwise to loosen the CPU. Squeeze the vacuum handling pump on the CPU and use it to lift the CPU away.

Wireless LAN Module The illustration below shows how to remove the Wireless LAN module from the notebook. Remove Wireless LAN Module 1.Remove the tape here.

2.Disconnect the antennas and remove 2 screws (M2*3) on Wireless LAN card and pull out the card from its slot.

Memory Module The illustration shows how to remove the memory module form the notebook. Remove Memory Module 1. Pull two latches here to pop the Memory module up at 45° angles, and then pull out the

module at that angle.

HDD Module The illustrations below show how to remove the HDD module from the notebook. Remove HDD Module 1. Remove 2 rubbers and 2screws (M2*4) on HDD cover ,then remove the HDD cover.

2.Unscrew and remove 2 screws (M2*4) on HDD housing. Pull the hard disk module toward the direction of the arrow and then lift it up and take it out.

3. Remove 4 screws (M3*3) to separate HDD from HDD housing

Optical Drive Module The illustrations below show how to remove the ODD module. Remove ODD Module Remove 2 screws (M2*4) here and pull the ODD module out of the notebook.

Keyboard Module The illustrations below show how to remove the keyboard. Remove Keyboard 1. Remove 2 screw (M2*4) here.

2. Open 4 latches (F2, F7, Ins and *) on keyboard module by a pair of tweezers.

3. Turn over the keyboard plate and disconnect the keyboard FPC and remove the keyboard plate.

Remove Keyboard Cable 1. Use a flexible connector tool to unlock the cable connector on both ends (no. 1). 2. Carefully pull out the keyboard cable (no. 2) with a pair of tweezers. 3. Lock the connector (no. 3) again to avoid possible breakage.

Top Case Module The illustrations below show how to disassemble and remove the top case module of the notebook. Remove Top Case Module 1. Separate the two hinge covers. (If the hinge covers are hard to remove, you may need to push the covers hard to release them from the hooks.)

2. Remove 6 screws (M2.5*7) securing the hinges.

3. Then disconnect the LVDS cable and CMOS MIC INV cable.

4. Release the Wireless LAN antennas from its hooks on bottom case and then pull it out through the tiny hole in the bottom case.

5. Then lift up the LCD panel and take it away.

6. Remove 2 pieces of tape and disconnect touchpad cable, two speaker cables, LED FPC and Bluetooth cable which are connected with motherboard. Remove 5 screws (M2.5*7) on top case.

7. Remove 22 screws (M2.5*7, M2*4) on bottom case.

8. Remove the dummy SD card and dummy express card.

9. Then separate the top case module from the bottom case.

10. Remove 2 screws (M2*3) fix the LED board and then take the board away. Disconnect the FPC from the LED board.

11. Remove 4 screws (M2*3) and 3 piece of tape on top case speaker and then take the 2 speakers away.

12. Remove 3 pieces of tape and disconnect the touchpad FPC and touchpad cable.

13.Remove the tape here, and then disconnect the touchpad FPC

14. Remove 9 screws (M2*3) fixing the touchpad bracket and take the touchpad bracket away.

15. Then remove 2 screws (M2*3) on touchpad button board and separate the board from the bracket. Then take the touchpad away.

Motherboard Module The illustrations below show how to disassemble and remove the Motherboard Module. 1. Tear off the tape fixing the speaker cable and then disconnect the woofer cable and bottom

speaker cable.

2. Remove 1 piece of tape.

3. Then separate the motherboard from the bottom case. Please separate slightly it from one side to the other side.

4. Remove 1 screw (M2*3) fixing the TPM board and then take it away from the motherboard.

5. Remove 2 screws(M2*3) on the turbo memory, and then take it away.

6. Unscrew and remove 2 screws (M2*6) on VRAM BTM and then take it away.

7. Remove 2 screws (M2*6) on VGA card and pull it out from its slot.

8. Remove 1 screw (M2*3) on VGA thermal module and take it away.

9. Remove the tape here, and disconnect the modem cable.

10. Remove 2 screws (M2*3) on modem.

11. Remove 3 screws (M3*3, M2*3) on IO bracket and take the IO bracket away.

Bottom Case Module The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the Bottom Case module. The module contains bottom case, the woofer and bottom speaker. Disassemble The Bottom Case Module 1. Remove the woofer from the bottom case.

2. Remove 4 screws (M2*3) on bottom case speaker and the take the speaker away.

LCD Module The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the LCD module. The module contains LCD panel, Inverter board, LCD bezel, LCD back cover, LCD brackets and camera module. Disassemble LCD Module 1. Remove 6 rubber pads and 6 screws (M2.5*5) on LCD front bezel.

2. Pry the inside edges softly to separate LCD front bezel from LCD panel and take it away.

3. Remove 1 screw (M2*3) on inverter board and tear of the tape. Disconnect 2 LCD cables and inverter cable from inverter board and take away the inverter board.

4. Remove 8 screws (M2.5*5) on LCD panel bracket and take the LCD panel away.

5. Disconnect the LVDS cable from LCD panel and take the LVDS cable away.

6. Remove 8 screws (M2*3) on both sides of LCD bracket and separate the two bracket from LCD panel.

7. Remove 4 screws (M2*5) and remove the LCD support bracket.

8. Remove the camera bezel. Then remove 3 screws (M2*4) and the tape fixing the camera. Remove the camera module from the LCD back cover.

9. Separate the camera cover and remove 2 screws (M2*4). Then separate the camera module into the following parts. Disconnect the camera cable.

10. Tear of the 3 wireless antennas and remove the camera bezel.
