Om Shri Guruve Namah

Chapter -1

In Vedic Astrology we will learn horoscope only. It is the two dimensional representation of planetary positions in the

Universe at the time of birth and at the place where the birth took place. We may say that a horoscope is a representation

of one's past deed as "Sanchit Karma" or "Bhagya".   In Vedic Astrology the Planets do not have same meaning as in

astronomy. In astronomy Sun is a star, Moon a satellite, Ra & Ke are not present as physical bodies, Earth is a planet but

not taken into consideration. There is logic behind it.

The Zodiac (Circle of 3600) has no beginning but we have taken start of ashwini nakshatra as a reference point. Every

planet moves on this zodiac and at a particular point of time planetary position of this zodiac is represented by horoscope.

There are 27 "Nakshatras" or constellations of stars. So the zodiac is divided into 27 parts and each is represented by a

Naksahtra. If we divide 3600 into 27 parts 360/27=130 20'.

Note :- Those who are not familiar to mathematics may learn it. A circle is made of 3600 and   0 called degree and ' is

called minute & " is called seconds. These are units of angles.

each  degree = 60 minutes and each minute = 60 seconds. To simply it we may compare degree with hour 1 hour =60

minutes and 1minute=60 seconds (Hour, Minute and Seconds are units of time and degree, minute and seconds are units

of angle).

One important and interesting point we may learn here the Ancient Indian Units of time . The time was measured in Ghati,

Pala and Vipala. One day = 60 Ghatis ,1 Ghati = 60 Pala and 1 Pala = 60 vipala so our Rishis were better that the

scientist of present age. Their least count is bigger that our Rishi's because 1 day = 24 hours. So there is a lot of

difference in the least count. So our Rishis were more accurate in measuring time.

Every nakshatra is divided into 4 Charan or Pada so each Charan = 130 20' / 4 = 30 20'

Notes :-

1. Remember all the 27 Nakshatra and their lords.

2. I have arranged them in serial and in the groups or nine (9), why

Page 2: Astrology Classes

o Because nakshatra falling in one line are owned by one Lord. So it is easy to remember their lord.

o The serial of the ownership (Lords) is the serial of Vimshottari Dahsa (Ke, Ve, Su, Mo, Ma, Ra, Ju,

Sa, Me).

o Third point is also very important too. I will discuss it in a table given below.

As you know every nakshatra is of 13 degree 20 minutes and every charan is of 3 degree and 20 minutes. Further there

are total 12 Rashis so 360 / 12 = 30 degree so every Rashi is made of 30 degree angle. If we divide a Rashi's angle (30)

by one charan (3 degree and 20 minutes) we get 9. Therefore each rashi has 9 charans as mentioned in the above chart.

Suppose the Rashis is Aries (Mesha) it starts with first charan of Ashwini so includes (4 padas of Ashwini, 4 of Bharani

and the first pada of Kritika). Here note and interesting point. When the Ashwini Nakshatra ended the the Aries continued

so protection of Nakshatra ended but protection of rashi is continued. When the Rashi ended in Kritika's first pada

protection of Kritika continued. But when we come to Ashlesha's end, Cancer ends here too. So there is not protection

here. That is why I have arranged it in the groups of Nine. It is the point which is called Moola or Gadant Moola.(Means no

protection to Natal born at this junction). Similar is the case at the begining of Magha.

So the people born at the following points are called children born in "MOOLA"

born at the end of Ashlesha (4th Charan)

born in the begining of Magha (1st Charan)

born at the end of Jyeshtha (4th Charan)

born in the begining of Mula (1st Charan)

born at the end of Revati (4th Charan)

born at begining of Ashwini( 1st Charan)

.............................

Dear sir

I have read your first lesson

the gadant moola nakshatras any specific degrees are allotted and the range from which degee to which regards

gayathri-

.............................

Yes I would like to discuss it in detail. Pundits have created controversy regarding "MOOLA". They say all the children

born during the the Six Nakshatras( Ashlesha- Magha, Jyeshtha-Moola, Revati-Ashwini) are MOOLA and "Moola Shanti"

should be done for such children. Actually "Panditya" (The Karma of Pundits) is also mode of earning money for them.

Therefore they have misrepresented the facts and included all the four padas or charans of these six nakashtras so that

more children may be included for moolashanti.. But it is not logical. I have given Logic in my message no. 12 which is as

follows

Page 4: Astrology Classes

I will explain a little more on Moola to remove any doubts. Actually "Gand" means "Pit" and "Gadanta" means at the

bottom of a pit so if someone falls in pit or hole and there is no protection so he will feel suffocation there( Loss of energy,

scarcity of oxygen etc.). So the children born in Gand Moola are deficient of energy and oxygen. Therefore after 27 days

during the same nakshatra we try to fulfill all the deficiencies by way of "Hawan and Puja".

Now the mathematically what are the degree of moola.

I have made it clear in my earlier post that

1 Sign = 300

1 Nakshatra = 130 20'

I Nakshatra = 4 Pada or Charan

1 Charan = 30 20'

I Sign = 9 Charan

and the moola charans are as follows

born at the end of Ashlesha (4th Charan)

born in the begining of Magha (1st Charan)

born at the end of Jyeshtha (4th Charan)

born in the begining of Mula (1st Charan)

born at the end of Revati (4th Charan)

born at begining of Ashwini( 1st Charan)

So we can calculate the exact angle or degree. I will do the first one i.e. Ashlesha it is 9th Nakshatra and we are to

calculate fourth charan of ashlesha.

Total charans till Ashlesha's third charan are( 9 x 4 )-1 = 35 Charan or you can confirm it by counting in the table.

So it will start from 35 x 30 20' = 1050 700' or 1160 40' So the Gand moola will start at this degree and will end after 60 40'

(i.e. at 1230 20'.

Home Work :- Calculate other starting and ending point of Moolas and post it in the forum.

..........................................................................................................................................

Dear Sushil Ji,

I would be glad if you could clarify my doubts.

1)I have heard that there is Nakshatra called Abhijit.Whats that and why we are not taking it into calculations?

2)There is a old saying that Brides who have Moola Nakshatra will give problems to the health of her Father In law & girl

who has Ashlesha Nakshatra will give problems to health of her Mother In law.Is it true or its just for the sake of saying?

Page 5: Astrology Classes

3)Lord Sani is enemy to Lord Mars. What will happen if Natural malefic Sani is in Nakshatra of his enemy Mars.(for

example:Chitra)

 Regards,

Viduna.

.....................................................................................................................................

Dear Viduna ji,

Yes there is a Nakshatra "Abhijit" in addition to these 27 Nakshatras. It is far away from earth so it is not taken into

consideration generally. Though it is taken into consideration while making some special charts like Sarvatobhadra

Chakra etc. (Then we take 28 Nakshatra). It is also taken into consideration for Muhurt. We will discuss in details at some

later stage when required.

It's degree is 276 0 40' to 2800 53' 34".

Calculation of this Nakshatra

It starts with the start of 4th Charan of Uttarashada Nakshatra and ends at the end of 1/15th part of Sravana Nakshatra.

Fourt no of charan till the end of 3rd charan of Uttarashadh (Uttarashadh is 21st naskshatra)

(21 x 4) - 1 = 83

Total degree at the end of 3rd charan of U.Shadh

 = 83 x 30 20'

= 2490 1660'                        (remember  10 = 60' )

= (249+27)0  40'  or 2760 40'

Home work :- Calculate the ending of Abhijit Nakshatra

RASHIS

The Zodiac or Bhachkra is also divided into 12 parts and each part is known as Rashi or Sign. Though I have already

mentioned them in the Chapter -1 (1/1) eventhough I am again writing them. If we divide 3600 with 12 we get 300  it means

each Sign is made of 300 . As I have earlier written each Sign is made of 9 Padas or 2 1/4 Nakshatra. The names and

Lordship of the rashis are given in the following table.

Notes :-

Books generally say Aries is from 0 to 30, Taurus from 30 to 60. Here is a confusion where should the exact

300 should be. It is obvious it cannot be in both the signs. That is why I have made it clear in the above table.

We will use abbreviation in forthcoming chapter in place of full name.

Sometimes we will use only numbers for Rashi. Like 10 for Capricorn.

In the horoscope we denote Ascendant, Planets, Nakshatras etc.

Suppose at a particular point of time Sun is at 350 so it is obvious that it is in Taurus( in the 2nd Sign). It means

it must have crossed the first sign so we can write the degree as 1s 50 .It denotes that it has crossed 1 sign ( Ar)

and in the 2nd sign at 50.

Start of Ashwini Nakshatra or Aries sign is taken as reference point of Zodiac. We calculate all the degree by

taking into consideration this reference point.

You will be puzzled with so many mathematics in my writings but it is essential to learn for a good astrologer as

Maharishi Parashara has written in his book

" Ganiteshu Praveeno Yeh Shabdashstra Kritshramah Nyayabid Budhiman Deshdikkalaguyou Jtendriya"

"OohapohPaturHoraSkandha Shravan Sammatah Maitreya Satyatam Yati Tasya Vakyam Na Sanshayah"

The words of one who has achieved skill in mathematics, one who has put much efforts in Grammar, One who has good

knowledge of geography, astronomy, time One who has won his senses, One who is skilful and logical , One who is

favorable to astrology, will truthful and doubtful.

So please take the mathematics involved very seriously otherwise my hard work will be washed away

What is  HORA. And  Nomenclature of Weekdays ( An interesting topic)

Key Points:

1. HORA- is made from AHORATRI, AHO means Day and RATRI means Night and  AHORATRI  is the origin of HORA.

Page 7: Astrology Classes

Therefore Vedic Astrology is also called Hora Shastra.

Weekdays are counted in the following sequence

Sunday (Su), Monday (Mo), Tuesday (Ma),Wednesday (Me), Thursday (Ju), Friday (Ve), Saturday (Sa).

How days are names

HORA is behind the nomenclature. There are 24 horas in a day. First hora of the day starts at sunrise of the day. Hindus

consider day as time interval from one Sunrise to the next Sunrise. Every hora is almost of one hour.

Motion of planets with respect to earth is the reason behind naming hora First of all arrange the planets according to their

speed.

Planet Speed in degree/ day Sidereal Period of revolution Represented Day

Sun (Su) 1 degree 365.3 days Sunday

Moon (Mo) 13 degree nearly 27.3 days Monday

Mars (Ma) 30 - 45 minutes 687 days Tuesday

Mercury (Me) 65 - 100 minutes 88 days Wednesday

Jupiter (Ju) 5 to 15 minutes 11.9 years Thursday

Venus (Ve) 62 - 82 minutes 224 days Friday

Saturn (Sa) 3 minutes 29.5 years Saturday

Therefore Sa is slowest (takes 2.5yrs to move one sign, or 30yrs nearly one cycle on zodiac

Ju (takes 1 year to move one rasi OR 12 yrs nearly one cycle on zodiac )

Ma (1.5yrs one cycle on zodiac

Su (1yr one cycle on zodiac

then Ve Me and Moon

This is the order of HORA.

Sa » Ju »  Ma »  Su » Ve »  Me » Mo

A day starts is named after the HORA which starts at the time of Sunrise on that day.

Now the nomenclature of days :-

Today is Thursday(13th Sept, 2007).So the start of day or at the time of Sun Rise ( 5 Hour, 56 Min,48 Sec) there was

HORA of Jupiter and will last for one hour. After that according to above order of hora of Mars started. Similarly it moved

one by one. You may manually count the hora of next morning or by shortcut method there will be three cycles of these

horas in 21 hours. ( i.e. 7 x 3 = 21 ). Now the next hora or 22nd will be again of Ju,  then Ma(23rd),  Su (24th ) so at the

end of 24th HORA the thrusday is complete and at the time of next Sun Rise the first hora will belong to Ve.  That is why

next day it is Friday ruled by Venus.

PANCHAANGA PART  - II

Panchang - Means Panch + Ang ( One who has five limbs ) and these limbs are

Vaar (Days)

Tithi

Nakshatra

Yog

Karan

So we will discuss these five limbs while studying panchanga.

Vaar - In my last post I had described about name of days. How these days are named and why the Sunday, Monday,

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday is the sequence of days. Those who have not read may read the post

first.

Today We will know about Tithi.

Important Point :- I have felt some members are confused due to a new subject. The doubts will be cleared one

by one when we will complete this chapter.

There are two calendars - Solar Calendar - This calendar similar to the calendar we use daily . It is based on Sun's movement. One year

is equal to the time taken by  the Sun to complete 360 on zodiac. Sun moves daily 10 . Solar month starts when

Sun transits from one sign to another sign. It is called "Sankranti". The most famous sankranti is "Makar

Sankranti" (14th January) and it is celebrated all over India in different form. We use this calendar too for some

purposes.

Lunar Calendar - This is the calendar we use in Vedic Astrology. In Lunar calendar day is called "Tithi". You

may understand it as Lunar Day. When a Lunar Month start, Sun and Moon are at the same Longitude. Since

Mo is faster so it goes ahead of the Sun. When moon is ahead of Sun by 120  the second tithi starts. It

completes one cycle of the Zodiac(3600) in 30 Lunar Days (Not Solar days or the calendar we use) . So it

completes 3600 in 30 days hence it moves 120  ahead of Sun and after 30 tithis it will again be at the same

longitude so the next Lunar Mont will start.

o Paksha :- So there are 30 Lunar Days or Tithis in one Lunar Month. There are two fortnight in one

lunar month. These are called "Sukla Paksha" ( Brighter fortnight) & "Krishna Paksha" (Darker

Fortnight). In Shukla paksha the moon is called waxing moon and in Krishna paksha it is called

waning moon.

o Calculation of Tithis :- We can calculate tithis if we know the longitude of Sun and Moon on a

particular day.

First Step :- deduct sun's longitude from moon's longitude i.e. Long of Mo- Long of Su

Page 10: Astrology Classes

Second Step :- if we get a negative no. add 3600 otherwise use the same number.

Third Step :- Since Mo is 120 ahead of sun so divide it by 12 the number will be the tithi

and it will be between 1 -30.

Paksha :- If no is 1-15 it is Shukla Paksha and if it is between 16 - 30 it is Krishan Paksha.

Example :- Take the Panchang of today  15th Sept 2007

Moon's longitude at 6 AM (just after Sun Rise) at Kanpur is 186028'21" and Sun's long is

147050'52"

            Step 1 :-

Today Su is in Leo at 27050'52" and Moon is Libra 6028'21".

So Sun's long is (30 x 4) +  27050'52" { Since Su has crossed the fourth Sign of Cancer so moved 120

degree + 27050'52" from start of zodiac }

Moon's long is (30 x 6) + 6028'21".{ Since Mo has crossed the sixth Sign of Virgo so moved 180

degree +6028'21" from start of zodiac }

  186028'2

1"

o

r

185087'8

1"

- 147050'5

2"

- 147050'5

2"

=  = 38037'29"

Step - 2  no need because the no is already  +ve.

            Step - 3 divided the no. by 120 i.e. 38037'29" /12 = 3 + some remainder

Here 3 + remainder sows that the 3 Tithis are completed and next 4th is running remainder is

the proportionate part of next tithi(Chaturthi) that has passed. So today it is chaturthi. Since it is

between 1 -15 so Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha. Today is Ganesh Chaturthi So Wish all the

members a very Happy Ganesh Chaturthi.

Home work :- Note down the Long of Sun & Moon from any Panchang or make a horoscope

with the help of an astrology software and note down the Long. of Sun and Moon on 4th Sept

2007(at 6.00AM) and Calculate the Tithi according the above method.

At the start of a Lunar month Sun and Moon are exactly

at the same longitude.

How the months of Hindu Calendar have been named :-

There are two types of Panchanga -

1. Suklanta -That ends with the end of Shukla Paksha.( Last day of this month is Poornima.)

2. Amanta -That ends with the end of Krishna Paksha( Last day of this month is Amavasya.)

In most parts of India Shuklanta Panchanga is popular. I also use this Panchangam. A New lunar month(Pratipada of Shukla Paksha) starts whenever Sun and Moon are at the same longtude. Moon will start going ahead and again after 30 lunar days (29 to 30 Solar Days) it will be at the same long. as of Sun (Start of again a new month). Months have been named after the name of the nakashtra. Sun and Moon are expected to be at the same longitude(On poornima) in the Nakshatra (Most expected one) after which the month have been named .

I wanted to teach you something about Solar Day, Lunar Day, Hindu Panchanga (Calendar). There are several other

matters too that need to be discussion So I will take up the matter in my next lesson. Other seniors are also requested to

add something necessary to the above points.

How to see Panchanga

Download Panchang.pdf  from files section and try to learn how to see panchanga.

Again download another file panchaga sept.pdf from files section.

Suppose you want to see pachanga of 18 Sept. Got to English date column already described as English

calendar.

Go to 18 and read this line from very begining.

Dinman :- leave this column. I will teach some time later about it.

Tithi :- 7 is written in this column means at the time of sunrise the tithi is 7 or Saptami.Next is the day Mangal or

Tuesday. See next column it says it will last till Ghati 58 Pala 23(In Vedic Time Unit One day= 60 Ghati and 1

Ghati = 60 Pala), next columns says it will end in Night (Ratri), again next column says according to Indian

Standard Time it will last till 5.17 AM (Next Morning but according to English calendar the date has changed at

Midnight but according to Hindu calendar the day will end at next Sunrise and next Sun Rise has not taken

place so the same day continues)

Nakshatra :- Nakshatra is Anuradha in the above explained way it will end at 17 Ghati 53 Pala in day or at 1.05

PM today. Nakshatra means today the Moon is in Anuradha Nakshatra.

Yoga :- Priti ends at Ghat 60 Pala 0 or at he exact day ending time

Karan :- Gar karan  ending at 26 Ghati 24 Pala next karan is Vanij ending at 58 Ghati 23 Pala

Date :- English date is 18

Moon rashi :- Moon is in Vrishchik Sign (Scorpio). Here moon's entrance time is given. No time or blank column

means it is already running in the sign mentioned in that row.

Sunrise(Suryodaya) :- 5.56AM at (City where Panchanga belongs - this Panchanga belongs to Varanasi)

Sunset (Suryast):- at 6.04 AM

Sun longitude :- means the Sun is at 5s 00 22' 35" at the time of Sun Rise in Varanasi it means it has crossed

the fifth sign and in sixth sign or in Virgo (Kanya) and it will move 58'39" till next Sun Rise. So we can exactly

calculate Sun's longitue at any point of time today.

Chandrast (Moon Set):- Moon will set at 9.59PM.

again tithi 7 or Saptami and Var (Day) is Mangal (Tuesday).

next to it - other details are given like festivals etc.

Dear Lalit ,

This will automatically be covered in the lesson "How to cast horoscope from Ephemeris" but  since you are very special

to me. I will reply here in short. I don't know whether you have any idea of Longitude and Latitude or not. So I am

explaining here in short.

Latitude :- We can imagine the Earth as a sphere, with an axis around which it spins( like the picture above). There are

two poles North and South Poles. The Equator is a line around the earth, an equal distance from both poles. The Equator

is also the latitude line given the value of 0 degrees. This means it is the starting point for measuring latitude.

Latitude values indicate the angular distance between the Equator and points north or south of it on the surface of the

Earth. A line connecting all the points with the same latitude value is called a line of latitude. Parallels are equally spaced.

There are 90 degrees of latitude going north from the Equator, and the North Pole is at 90 degrees N. So latitude of a

place is between 90 N to 90 S.

Delhi is at Latitude. 280  40' North (you will find that it is written as 280  N 40' )

Sydney is 230 53' or 230 S 53'

Lines of longitude, called meridians, run perpendicular to lines of latitude, and all pass through both poles. It is a complete

circle. According to an international agreement, the meridian line passing through Greenwich (Near London), England, is

been allotted  value of 0 degrees of longitude. So everything here is in respect to this reference point. The Earth is divided

equally into 360 degrees of longitude. There are 180 degrees of longitude East and West of Greenwich.

Delhi is at Longitude. 770  13' East of Greenwich (you will find that it is written as 770  E 13' )

Washington is at 770  02' but west of Greenwich. you will find that it is written as 770  W 02' )

Now coming to your question :-

The Earth rotates on its axis from West to East with its axis in the North/South direction like below

Page 14: Astrology Classes

Since the earth is rotating on it's axis from West to east therefore the Sun rises in the East.( Becasue the Sun will be like

an stationary body). So the Sun rise will be different for each longitude. When comparing two places the Sun rise will be

earlier at the eastern place and later at Western place.

Total longitudes 180 E + 180 W = 3600

The earth complete one rotation on its axis in 24 hours ( The rotation on axis is the cause of day and night too)

so 3600  are covered in 24 hours or 24 x 60=1440 minutes

so 10 will be covered in = 1440/360 = 4 minutes

So the difference of 1 minutes will create the difference of 4 minutes in Sun Rise. The calculation is same for

calculating the Local Mean Time.

Example :-

Suppose we have a data that Sun Rise had taken place at Calcutta at 5 h 27m

Longitude of Calcutta = 880  22' East

Longitude of Mumbai = 720  50' East

Now calculate the Sunrise at Mumbai.

Difference in Long = 880  22' East -720  50' East = 150  32' or near about 15.5 degree

So difference in Sun Rise will be = 15.5 x 4 minutes = 62 Minutes

or 1 hour 2 minutes and it will be after Calcutta because Calcutta is in the West so we will add the 62 minutes to Sun rise

of Calcutta.

so Sun rise at Mumbai is at 5 h 27 m + 1 h 2m = 6 h 29 m

One of our members in a private mail asked me "There are so many software available in the Market, why are you asking

us to learn for so many calculations etc."

I must say he is right. You are not expected to make horoscope mathematically but  to predict  horoscopes. You may

seem right here but after three or four lessons ( when mathematical portions will be over), you will find the difference in

your confidence. While making a prediction you will have full confidence. Imagine you are studying in MBBS and you

do not study physiology of Human Body and directly start learning "How to prescribe medicines? " Can you

imagine in that case you may perform well as doctor or with confidence. I think now you would have understood the

difference. Believe me you will be a very good astrologer if you learn systematically and in a planned way, though it will

take time.

If most of you are of the same view, please believe me whatever I am doing is the correct way of learning astrology. But to

relax you I will not post mathematical calculations next one or two postings. I will discuss something funny in Vedic

Astrology in a lighter way.

 I take up a matter today :-

" Two brothers when become young or after marriage, they cannot live with each other. They want partition in family and

properties. Whether they may have too much wealth, they may not have any problem of money or wealth even though

they will not live together at that stage. Ambanis are recent examples in our country. Here I am talking about common

assumptions not about exceptions. They divided the Reliance into two parts, even though   they had no problem of money.

Why?"

Note :- Those members who have primary knowledge will understand the following table and those who cannot

understand need not worry, I will take up every aspect involved in next lessons.

First House represents yourself and the third house represents your younger brother.

Suppose sign in first house is Aries ( Mesha ), in third house will be it will be Gemini ( Mithuna )

First house lord is Mars (Mangal) and third house lord is Mercury (Budha) and Mercury is enemy of Mars.

Now suppose sign in first house(1H) is Taurus (Vrishabh or Ta), the third house(3H) will be Cancer (Karka or Ca).

First Lord (1L) wil lbe Ve and 3L will be Mo again enemy.

If 1H is Ge, 3H is Le

1L is Me & 3L is Su again Me is neutral to Su.

Now consider other houses on your own. Thus we can reveal many secrets of our life with the help of Vedic Astrology but

what we need, is to understand it well, from basics and philosophy behind it.

Here I am giving a table of friendships for your use, though I will again take the matter of friendship in future again.

Page 16: Astrology Classes

Home Work :- Did you understand what I wanted to convey from my illustrations of two brothers ?

Understanding   Planets   & Natural Friendships

There are nine planets in Indian Vedic Astrology. Those are Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu &

Ketu. Please try to remember in this sequence because it is the sequence of our weekdays and Maharishi Parashara has

written in this sequence. Rahu and Ketu are no allotted any days being no physical bodies. Rahu has been allotted a

certain period daily and it is called Rahu Kaal. I will post about it seperately. So it is not only easy but given in our

reference book(BPHS) too.

Here again I am telling you that Sun is a star, Moon is a satellite, Earth, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are planets but not

taken into consideration, Rahu and Ketu are not celestial bodies. What I understand If we want to study effect on

particular object of surrounding objects, we will take into consideration all surrounding objects nearest to it. So these

celestial bodies have been taken into consideration because they are nearer to the Earth, whether they are planets or not.

Moon being nearest to earth has the most impact on us that is why Moon plays the major role in zodiac. It's Nakshatra is

the birth nakshatra and it's Sign is Birth Sign and dasha is also decided on the basis of moon's longitude. Sun has great

impact on our life it is the source of energy so it is also into the consideration. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto being very

remote to us, are not into consideration. Rahu and Ketu ( North and South Nodes) are points( points where of earth and

moon's orbit cuts each other ) these are calculated but they do have impact on us.

Further our body is mini Brahmand representing the big Brahmand (Universe) and so everything in our life is represented

by these nine planets. One more thing related to the philosophy the zodiac is treated as Bhagwan Vishnu, it's signs are

limbs of Vishnu ji and planets are represented by Lord Vishnu's Avatars or incarnations.

Planets Vishnu Avatara Representing the

Sun Ram Avatar The King

Moon Krishna Avatar The Queen

Mars Narsimha Avatar Army Chief

Page 17: Astrology Classes

Mercury Buddha Prince

Jupiter Vaaman Avatar Raj or Dharma Guru

Venus Parashurama Daitya Guru

Saturn Koorma Avatara Hard worker

Rahu Sookar Avatar Lower Servant

Ketu Matsya Avatar Lower Servant

We see these planets only as celestial bodies but our Rishis who were able to see many more dimensions that us had

seen them as Jeevatma not as Jadatma.

What planets represents in philosophical way:- Please note it I like to think on topics in details so I am keeping my views

here, if you are not satisfied please feel free to discuss it.

It is will make easy for you to understand it's qualities and natural friendships.

Sun :- is the King so it represents every character of a King. e.g. He is the ruler. He has an authority. He is  supreme, He

does  Justice too.  etc. He is not benefic but a king can never be malefic. So he may be cruel but not malefic. So it is a

cruel planet. He will have enmity with daityas and daitya guru.

Moon :- is the Queen so it is very Saumya Planet. She has no enmity with anyone. She has much emotions. She will

have two friends one the king(Su) and the other prince (Me).

Mars:- He is commander of army so he is aggressive, ready to fight, energetic etc. He will be friends -his king (Su), his

Raj Guru (Ju) and the queen (Mo).

Mercury :- is the Prince and prince has too much wealth to utilize or mis-utilise.He will become like the persons (planets),

he sits because he is adolescent. He will not have natural friendship with his mother (Mo) because mother will complain to

he husband (Su) about his mischiefs so that her son does not become a bad boy so he will feel enmity. He will be neutral

towards Dharm Guru(Ju) and Commander (Ma)  because he is not in position to ignore them but will not feel enmity

because they will not interfere in his work.  . He will have to be friend of his father Su because he is the next king who will

rule the state. He is a learner or student too. So he may a very good student or very bad student depending upon his

nearby persons. He will behave like the people he sits due to adolescent nature.

Jupiter :- He is Dharmadhikari. He is always just. He is very very saumya too. He has too much knowledge He will like to

protect everyone from the influence of bad people (planets). He will guide the king in his work but the king is supreme .He

is Brahmin and Guru of Devatas. He has satwik guna. What ever duty he will perform, he will do it just as his duty not for

name or fame. So he is truly satwik. He will have enemity with other malefic planets. His friends King (Su), Queen (Mo)

and Army Chief (Ma). He will not like Ve because Ve is daitya guru.

Venus:- is also a brahmin but guru of daityas. So it has rajasik guna. He will do for name and fame. Even if he donate

something he will do it for fame and name only. So the truly rajsik. He is representative of all types of enjyoment,

entertainment or whatever things that give us enjoyment (like cars, bunglows, property etc.). He is the guru of daityas so

he will control over daityas too. He will have good friendships with daitya. He wll have friendship with prince too because

he would like the prince to have enjoyments. He will respect Ju being a bramin but will not be his friend so neutral.

Home Work:- I have left Saturn. Discuss about   it and   many other points those I have left for thinking on your own   but

please   do not go beyond the chapter of Natural Relationship.

Why dates of Festivals vary year to year

Page 18: Astrology Classes

Adhika Masa: A solar year has about 365 days and a lunar year has 355 days so there is difference of 10 days every

year. Every three year it is accumulated to 30 days (extra days). We correct our panchanga by introducing a new masa

and it is called " Adhik Masa". In some parts of North India it is called the "Mal Masa". "Mal" is a bad name so God have

that masa his own name and it is also called "Purushottama Masa".

Mo go around the zodiac in around 29 days and by which time Su also already moved. Moon moves a little more daily 12

d ahead of sun. ( It moves 12d in one lunar day ahead of sun and solar day is a little longer than lunar day so it is moves a

little more that 12d daily) while Sun moves daily 1 d. So it creates difference of nearly one day per month. i.e.it has sear

about one day extra in a lunar month as compared to solar month. That is the difference of between the two calenders.

That is why dates of Hindu festivals vary year to year but they are with in the limit of 1-2month's variation because we

correct our calender by alloting a month to a masa as"adhika masa". So it is corrected during this year. Muslims are not

correcting their calender as we do therefore their festivals vary too much. Sometimes Ramzan month falls during  winter

and after some year it will fall during summer. So there is too much variation in their dates.

Suppose Su is in the beginning of the rasi. Mo will catch up with Su and new month begins, Vaisakha masa begins. Mo

will go around the zodiac in around 29 days and by which time Su also has already moved .and it is possible that Su

hasn't left Mesha. Therefore occasionally 2 times in 5 years, it happens that Su remains in the same rasi . Hence, 2

Vaisakha masas are possible and the second one called "Purushottama Vaisakha masa" and the former one is  called

"NIJA Vaisakha masa".If Mo met Su TWICE in Taurus, there will be Nija Jyestha Masa followed by Adhika Jyestha Masa.

Important:- Taurus denotes Jyestha Masa. Our rishis had verified the montly calendar by looking at the sky which

masa/month is running after that physical verification that they had decided the calendar.

How to draw horoscope

Part 1- how to calculate ascendant

Here is the Bio-data posted by one of our members for casting sample horoscope.

DOB- 4 SEPTEMBER 2007

TOB- 4 30 00 AM

POB- HYDERABAD

BABY- GIRL

First of all note it down that you will hardly need to draw a horoscope because there are so many software available in

Market but I just want to guide you how it is drawn. So try to have an idea and it is very simple to draw horoscope

manually. Just go step by step. After some practice it will much easier that it looks.

Important :- I have already mentioned that you should have two books (one Indian Ephemeris by N.C.Lahari and Tables

of Ascendants by N.C.Lahari. Those who have not purchased these two books may download the from files section of our

group. I have uploaded all the necessary files in Lahari folder of files section.

Required data -

Date of birth

Page 19: Astrology Classes

Time of birth

Place of birth or Longitude and Latitude of the place

Here we have all date, time and place.

1. 1st step we should note down the data alongwith longitude and latitude o Date :- 4.9.2007

o Time :- 4.30 AM

(For calculation purpose PM should be written in 24 hour system e.g.13.30 instead of  1.30

PM )o Place :- Hyderabad (Write down the Longitude and Latitude here)

(See long&lati.pdf Here you may find Longitude and Latitude of Hyderabad which Latitude

170 N 26' and Longitude ( 780 E 27')

In next column Local Time Correction is also given you may note it down which is -16m

12s.

Now you have the following data

Date :- 4.9.2007

Time :- 4.30 AM

Place :- Hyderabad (Write down the Longitude and Latitude here)

o Latitude 170 N 26'

o Longitude ( 780 E 27')

o Local Time Correction= (-)16m 12s.

2nd. Step :- calculate Local Mean Time

If Local Time Correction is not known of a place you may calculate it as I have already posted a lesson on it. If we correct

Indian Standard Time by this correction, we will get Local Mean Time (LMT).

So Local Mean Time =

  hours minutes seconds

Time of birth 4 30 0

Correction 0 16 12

LMT 4 13 48

So the Local Mean Time is 4h 13m 48s

3rd Step :- Calculate Sidereal Time

See table1.pdf here Sidereal time at 12 h (Noon)   LMT is given for days of yea r. So note down the this Sidereal time

for Sept 3( at 12 h LMT) is 10h 47m 45s. ( Since the time of birth is before 12h of 4th Sept so I have noted time for Sept

3rd Noon)

Now see On same page in table1.pdf, there is a table Table-II-Correction for different years for next page you will have

to see table2.pdf it is in continuation of table1.pdf.

Page 20: Astrology Classes

Here note down the correction for year 2007 it is +12s

in table2.pdf there is another table (Table IV- Correction for hours and minutes)

Now note down correction for 4h 13m 48 s

For 4 h it is +39s  (These are given on hourly basis 1 - 24 hours)

for 12 m it is 2s (12 minute is nearer to 13m and 48s than 18m) (These are given after each 6 minutes and start a line is

drawn in the table)

Now find the sidereal time for the above LMT by applying all the corrections

  hours minutes seconds

Time interval from 12 noon to 4h13m48s 16 13 48

Sidereal time at 12 h (Noon)  LMT is 3 September 10 47 45

Correction for different 2007 0 0 12

Correction for 16 hours 0 2 38

Correction for 12(near about 12m48s) minutes 0 0 2

Correction for place 0 0 3

Now the Sidereal Time is 26 62 148

or 27 4 28

4th of Sept (24hours have been changed to a day) 3 4 28

Thus the sidereal time is 3h 4m 28s it is called Sampat Kaal in Hindi.

3rd Step :- To find out Lagna of the baby

Now see the file lagna.pdf See at the top of the table "Ascendant for Latitude 170 30'North ( for Hydearabad 170 26',

Sholapur ...........)

correction for proportional parts are given at the bottom of the page.

now according to your sidereal time find out the longitude of Lagna

  S (Signs) 0 (degree) ' (minutes) " (seconds)

3 hours 8 m 3 26 25 0

3 hours 4 m 3 25 31 0

LMT 0 0 54 0

So the we may calculate the lagna (Ascendant) movement for  28 s

For 4 minutes or 240 second it moves 54 m

for 28 sec it will move = (54 m x 28)/ 240 = 6m 18 s

So the ascendant is

Page 21: Astrology Classes

  S (Signs) 0 (degree) ' (minutes) " (seconds)

3 hours 4 m 3 25 31 0

54 s 0 0 6 18

Ascendant before ananamsa

correction

3 25 37 18

Ayanamsa Correction (given in

table3.pdf ) for 2007

0 0 -58 0

Real ascendant 3 24 39 18

3s 24 degree 39 minute 18seconds lagna means the lagna or ascendant has crossed 3rd Rasi or Sign (it has crossed

Gemini or Mithuna) and it is at 24 degree 39 minute 18 seconds (Ca - 240 39' 18"  of next sign i.e. Cancer of Karka. You

should check this ascendant by making chart with some software and tally the result.

Rest will follow in next posting, till then you may discuss any point on it.

Note:- There may be some minor mistakes when calculating, if you find so please convey me.

 Styles of Birth Charts (Chakra)

Birth Chart is two dimensional representation of position of planets at the time of birth. Therefore first of all calculate we

Lganam (Ascendant) and then longitudes of planets. We accordingly place them in this chart. There are 12 Rasis(Signs)

and every Rasi has been allotted one house (Bhava) in the chart so every chart has twelve houses (Bhava). (So every

chart is has 12 square or boxlike segments, these are called houses)

Now there are several ways of representing charts in India but here we will learn only three types of charts those are most

popular.

North Indian Style:- It is also called Diamond Style because its boxes are like Diamond. Since it has been

called diamond chart so it is said to be ruled by Venus (Shukra).

South Indian Style :-  It is said to be ruled by Jupiter (Brahspati).

Bengali/Orriya Style :- It is popular in Orrisa and Bengal. It is said to be ruled by Sun. If you see history Sun

was given most importance in Orrisa. The famous Konark temple is situated in Orrisa. So the astrologers of this

region preferred this style. It is my personal view. I do not know the real reason.

I have tried my best to guide you on these charts, still someone has any problem may raise a query.

True Rahu is mathematical points based on the intersection of the plane

of the motion of the Moon (around the earth) and the earth (around the

Sun). It is sometimes Direct and sometimes Retrograde.

Page 23: Astrology Classes

Mean Rahu is always retrograde and our Rishis had mentioned clearly

that Rahu and Ketu are always Retrograde. They are never direct. Thus

while claculating longitudes we should take Mean Rahu.

Again while do calculation for Solar Eclipse or Lunar eclipse true rahu

is taken into consideration but when dealing with charts we take mean

rahu. If you use True rahu in drawing a chart sometimes your prediction

may go wrong because Parashara used retrograde rahu(mean rahu).

About Signs (Rasi)

As you know that the Zodiac is equally divided into 12 equal parts and these parts are called Signs (Rasi). I have already

discussed their names, short-names and the number by which they are denoted.

Again I am presenting the same table before you just for revision.

Now some more discussion about signs

Nature of signs :-

Signs have been divided into 3 categories, Movable (Char), Immovable (Fixed) and Dual (Dwiswabhav) signs.

Movable Immovable Dual

person will take some time to

take decision but once a

decision is taken he will stick to

the decision

In the middle.

Do or not to do type of nature

Fast Slow Sometimes fast sometimes

slow

Note :-

Signs have been denoted by numbers only.  you have to just write in the sequence only to know nature of the

sign. I have written something about nature so that you should understand that everything being discussed here

has a meaning. Nothing is useless. Your will have apply all things learnt simultaneously to arrive to perfect

result.

While considering a lagna, take into consideration all the three lagna (Ascendant, Chandra, Surya). If

Ascendant and Chandra Lagna both are movable, the person will be very very quick or fast.If Ascendant and

Chandra Lagna both are immovable, the person will be very very slow. If Ascendant and Chandra Lagna both

are dual, the person will be indecisive many a time.

Note the everywhere (in each table ) they are divided in a sequence so that you may easily remember of sings.

Note :-

It means a male is always odd person.( Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha). Am I correct while laughing? A female is

always even calm person or expected to be loving, having emotions and saumyata.

A male sign is always dominating, active and aggressive.

A female sign is submissive, passive and mild (saumya).

So the Lagna and Chandra Lagna will decide the nature of a person whether he is aggressive or submissive.

Important point to remember - do not relate the sex of a sign with the sex of a person. If lady has odd numbered

lagna and Chandra Lagna, she will have a dominating personality.

Another important point:- Every point discussed here are one of the factors not the only factor. You should

remember this rule throughout your study. A combination of many factors decide the final projection or

prediction.

Sex of sign is also used to predict a female or male baby.

About Signs - Part -II

................In continuation to the earlier discussion

Signs are constellation of stars and our Rishis had named signs on the basis of images created by these stars like a

sketch is given below.

Page 27: Astrology Classes

Real Example Libra (Tula):- Tula means balance. The constellation of stars look like a Tula or Taraju or Balance or

Scale. A real sky picture is given below.

Details about all the pictures formed by these stars is as under

Signs Figure formed

Aries Ram

Taurus Bull

Gemini A pair of man and woman

Cancer Crab

Leo Lion

Virgo A woman sailing boat

Libra A Scale or Balance

Scorpio Scorpion

Sagittarius A man armed with bow and hinder part is

like of a horse

Capricorn Face as crocodile and hinder part like a

deer

Aquarius A pot ( A man with a pot)

Page 28: Astrology Classes

Pieces Two fishes with their head opposite to

each other

The above details are important for knowing the characteristics of a sign.

e.g. Suppose Leo - It is a Lion so it will like or represent forests. In other words it will like Natural Atmosphere. We can

relate other natural things like Hills, Mountains, Caves. He will have Large Cheeks like a Lion . Similar characteristics

related to Lion like Reddish Eyes, Broad Face etc. He will be honourable too. None can dare to disregard a Lion in a

forest or in open area.

Note:- You may think why I havechosen Libra and Leo only. Libra is my moon sign so I chosen it and Leo is lagna of my

daughter(Ananya).

Home Work :- Discuss characteristics of each sign with some explanation on it like I have done for Leo. It will

help you to remember the characteristics of signs. All are invited to take part in this discussion. Do not hesitate

whatever comes to your mind write to group.

My next post will follow only if you take part in this discussion with enthusiasm. An impression must come to me that my

hard labour is not going waste.

Maraka Planets:- Maraka means those who have power to cause death It is not necessary that it will cause death, it may

cause to face very difficult situation or disease or accident that will be equivalent to death. ( Marantulya Kasht).

Aayu Sthana (House of longevity) :- 8th house is the Aayu Sthana or house of longevity. Many people call it Mrityu

Sthana(House of death) but it is wrong. It is always house of longevity. The life may be short but it show life not death.

House of Expenditure :- 12th house from every house is the house of expenditure for that house (for significator of that

house). You should remember it well because these are thumb rule and you  will have to apply it again and again. Now

the 7th house if 12th from 8th house so 7th house is the house of expenditure for house of longevity.

3rd House:- 3rd house is the 8th from 8th house therefore it also shows longevity. (Bhavat Bhavam:- It is also a principle

in Vedic Astrology nth house from nth house also shows the same significance). So third house is the house of longevity

too. 2nd house is the 12th from 3rd house so it is also a Maraka Sthana.

Maraka Sthana (House) :- Now we have come to the conclusion that 2nd and 7th are maraka house for a person. Lord of

these houses are called Markesh (Marak + Ish). It means lord of these two houses may cause death or trouble equivalent

to death.

Consideration of 12th House:- 12th house in one's Lagna Kundali is 12th from Lagna so it is an expenditure of Lagna or

one's body. So it is also Maraka House. the lord of this house will also cause miseries/ death.

Malefics Deposited in 2nd and 7th House:- If malefics are deposited in 2nd and 7th house they will also cause trouble

and add to Maraka power of Markesh. Suppose someone tells a criminal to kill a person. The criminal goes to the spot to

kill the person and he finds some more criminals there and they are criminal's friends. They will also support the criminal

so the chances of death increases. So the malefics deposited in these house are also important while calculating power of

a Marak Planet.

I have discussed the Marak Houses in short so that you can have an idea of significance of houses. I will discuss in

details while dealing with longevity.

SUN

Dear Members,

Page 29: Astrology Classes

It is very tough to remember to Karakatwas of planet. There are only 9 planets, 12 signs and 12 houses and all our

activities, every part of body, our every action etc are ruled by these planets, signs and houses only. So I have tried to

personify them so that you can remember it easily. You may further try to remember other karaktwas of it in the same

manner. If it is beneficial to all of you, I will try to write on other plants too. It is small effort from me. I will wait for your

feedback on the above to prepare lessons.  I do not whether I am right while teaching in the way, but it is my

personal view that it will be easier for you to learn all this complicated items. Eveything is given in books but It is my

perosnal opinion, "If book are sufficient enough, there is no need for teacher. Every school use the same text books but it

is the teacher who makes the differences in schools." That is why I am trying all these things.

Message # 332

DOB- 4 SEPTEMBER 2007

TOB- 4 30 00 AM

POB- HYDERABAD

BABY- GIRL

We had calculated the Sidereal Time and Lagna Spasht in this example.

Sidereal Time : 3h 4m 28s

Lagna (Ascendant) : 3s 24 degree 39 minute 18seconds

Now we will calculate Bhava Spasht.

I have uploaded a file named "tables of 10th house"in lahari folder in files section (Download).

Now we will find out 10th house at the required Sidereal Time 3h 4m 28s.

As per table given Signs Degrees Minutes Seconds

10 house at 3h 8 m 0 26 27 0

10 house at 3h 4m 0 25 28 0

Motion of 10th house in 4 minutes 0 0 59 0

So the motion of 10th house is 59' in 4 minutes ( Note we have to find out 10th house at 3h 4m 28s which is between 3h

4m and 3h 8m).

so will should calculate movement in 28 seconds. (difference between 3h 4m 28s - 3h 4m)

in 4minutes or 240 seconds the movement is 59 degree or 59 x 60= 3540 "

in 28 " the movement will be = ( 3560 x 28) / 240 = 413 "

or 6' 53"

Page 35: Astrology Classes

Thus the 10th house spasht is

  sign degree minute seconds

10 house at 3h 4m 0 25 28 0

add movement in 28 seconds 0 0 6 53

10th house at 3h 4m 28s 0 25 34 53

Important Point :- In Parashara system this Spasht is said to be the middle point of that house. In KP system it is said to

be the starting point of that house. Since we are studying Parashara's system we will consider it as middle point of that

house.

Now suppose we move towards 11th house we will move through middle of 10th hosue, end of 10th house (Bhav Sandhi),

then middle of 11th house, end of 11th house (Bhav Sandhi), middle of 12 house, end of 12 house (Bhav Sandhi), lagan

(middle of first house). So there are six portions. Now we will calculate the difference between Ascendant and 10th house

and divide them into 6 equal portion to find these points

difference between Asc(  3s 24 degree 39 minute 18seconds ) and 10 H ( 0s 25d 34' 53")

  sign degree minute seconds

Ascendant 3 24 39 18

10th house 0 25 34 53

Difference 2 29 4 25

Now change it into seconds to divide into 6 equal portions.

  sign degree minute seconds

Difference 2 29 4 25

or   89 4 25

or     5344 25

or       320665

now divide in six equal portions

320665 / 6 =

  sign degree minute seconds

Difference       53444.17

or     890.736

or   14.8456

or   14 50.736

    14 50 44

So the difference is ( *) 0 14 50 44

Now go on adding the it will get the three sandhi and spasht of 11th & 12th house

Page 36: Astrology Classes

10th house 0 25 34 53

+  ( *) 0 14 50 44

end of 10th house or beginning of

11th house (Sandhi between 10 H

and 11H)

1 10 25 37

+  ( *) 0 14 50 44

Middle of 11th house 1 25 16 21

+  ( *) 0 14 50 44

end of 11th house or beginning of

12th house (Sandhi between 11 H

and 12H)

2 10 07 05

+  ( *) 0 14 50 44

Middle of 12th house 2 24 57 49

+  ( *) 0 14 50 44

end of 12th house or beginning of

1st house (Sandhi between 12 H

and 1H)

3 09 48 33

+  ( *) 0 14 50 44

Middle of first house the Asc. 3 24 39 17

Now we have reached the lagna which is  3s 24 degree 39 minute 18seconds (difference of 1 sec is negligible due to

involvement of so many divisions and multiplications in fractions).

Now we can find the spasht of 4th house, 5th house and 6th house by adding 180 deg or 6 signs to 10th , 11th and 12th

house spasht becase they are 180 degree away.

10th house 0 25 34 53

add 6 signs 6 0 0 0

4th house spasht 6 25 34 53

end of 10th house or beginning of

11th house (Sandhi between 10 H

and 11H)

1 10 25 37

+  6 signs 6 0 0 0

end of 4th house or begining of

11th house

7 10 25 37

Middle of 11th house 1 25 16 21

+  add 6 signs 6 0 0 0

5th house 7 25 16 21

end of 11th house or beginning of 2 10 07 05

Page 37: Astrology Classes

12th house (Sandhi between 11 H

and 12H)

+  6 signs 6 0 0 0

end of 5th house 8 10 7 5

Middle of 12th house 2 24 57 49

+  add 6 signs 6 0 0 0

6th house 8 24 57 49

end of 12th house or beginning of

1st house (Sandhi between 12 H

and 1H)

3 09 48 33

+  6 signs 6 0 0 0

end of sixth house 9 09 48 33

Middle of first house the Asc. 3 24 39 17

add 180 degree or 6 signs 6 0 0 0

seventh house (just opposite to

Asc)

9 24 39 17

Now we will find out difference between Ascendant and 4th house to calculate the point between these houses

4th house 6 25 34 53

less Asendatnt 3 24 39 17

difference (**) 3 0 55 36

Now we will divide it into six equal parts 327336 seconds / 6 = 54556 seconds = 15 degree 9 minutes 16 seconds (you

have to calculate in the same way as calculated for 10th house.

Now go on adding it to ascendant

Ascendant 3 24 39 17

+  (**) 0 15 9 16

end of first house 4 09 48 33

+  (**) 0 15 9 16

2nd house 4 24 57 49

+  (**) 0 15 9 16

end of second house 4 10 07 05

+  (**) 0 15 9 16

end of third house 6 10 25 37

Page 38: Astrology Classes

+  (**) 0 15 9 16

4th house 6 25 34 53

Now we can calculate the values for remaining three houses that are just opposite to these three houses by adding 180

degree or 6 signs.

Ascendant 3 24 39 17

add 6 signs 6 0 0 0

7th house 9 24 39 17

While making Rasi Chakra or Lagna chart or D-1 we had placed the planets according to their rasi (Signs) in which they

were at the time of birth , now we will place them according to their Bhava to make Bhava Kundali or Chalit Chakra.

Mo's   logitude on 4th Sept at 4.30 AM is 1 15 9 43

Longitude of Sun is 4 17 5 41

we have already calculated the Longitude in Message no 356, some were calculated by others I have taken into

consideration the calcualtion done by Usha Ji

Moon 15d 9' 43" in Taurus

Sun 17d 5' 41" in Leo

Mercury 3d Virgo 34'

Venus -Retro 23d Can  4.6"

Mars 23 d Tau 2' 35" 2

Jupiter 17 d Scorp 7' 38"

Saturn 6d Leo 12' 40"

Rahu (retro) 13d Aqu 5' 41"

Ketu ( 6 signs opp. Rahu) 13d Leo 5' 41"

according to it the horoscope is

Page 41: Astrology Classes

Now we will place the according to house

There are two changes Me and Sa

Me Virgo 3d 34' or 5s 3d 34', now chech where it falls in second part of 2nd house or first part of 3rd house

end of third house 6 10 25 37

so it is in the third house because it is at 5s 3d 34'

so the chalit Chakra is like below

Importance of Chalit Chakra:-

Page 42: Astrology Classes

While reading predictive astrology you will find two types of predictions related to planets e.g. suppose in the case of

mercury in our example horoscope.

1. Prediction based on Sign in which the planet is placed. Me is in Virgo in Rasi Chakra (D-1) so it will give results of

Virgo.

2. Predictions based on Bhav or house :- Me will not give the results of 3rd house but of second house because it is

actually in 2nd house calculated as above.

So Chalit Chakra are very important.

Note :-

1. There may be some typing mistakes because I have not checked it after typing. I never prepare a lesson on

paper. I just start on computer and go on typing so there are always chances of typing errors. Please point out

them so they may be corrected to avoid confusion.

2. This calculation may look tough one but it is not so. There were two students of class 11th standard and were

told to sit in different rooms to solve a question. The question was taken from IIT entrance exam. One of them

solved. The other one could not solve because he was told that this is a question form IIT exam. So your

mentality is most important factor while learning. Believe me it is a very simple one. Just try to learn it so that

you can understand the importance of Chalit Chkra.

The error occured when the follwoing table was being prepared. Now corrected so the last table need correction too.

Now go on adding it to ascendant

Ascendant 3 24 39 17

now correct the next table

Compound Relationship

When we combine temporary relationship and natural relationship of planets, we get compound relationship.

The details are as under

For better understanding , I would like to allot the following marks to friends, neutral and enemy

Friend = +1

Neutral = 0

Enemy= -1

Natural Friend (+1) + Temporary friend(+1) = Good Friend (Adhimitra) (+2)    1+1= +2

Natural Friend (+1) + Temporary enemy(-1) = Neutral (Sama) (0)                        1-1= 0

Natural Neutral (0) + Temporary Friend (+1)= Friend (+1)                                     0+1= +1

Natural Neutral (0) + Temporary Enemy (-1) = Enemy (-1)                                    0-1= -1

Natural Enemy (-1) + Temporary Friend ( +1)= Neutral (0)                                    1-1= 0

Natural Enemy (-1) + Temporary Enemy ( -1)= Bad Enemy (Adhishatru)(-2)     -1-1= -2

it is quite clear +2 doubles the friendship and -2 doubles the enmity .

Most Important Point to remember :-When we talk about a friendly on inimical house, we refer to compound relationship

only. A planet placed in a house owned by it's friend or good friend is said to be in friendly house.

A planet in a house owned by a enemy or bad enemy is said to be inimical house.

Exaltation, debilitation and Mool Trikona Signs

Page 46: Astrology Classes

These are three points for each planet in zodiac.  Each planet at a certain point of zodiac is exalted or he is said to be in Uccha Rasi , at 180 degree away from it is debilitated (Neech) sign and it has another point too where it is called the planet is in Mool Trikona.

Planet Exaltation Sign Debilitation Sign Mool Trikona Sign Own Sign of the

planet

Sun Ar Li Le Le

Moon Ta Sc Ta Cn

Mars Cp Cn Ar Ar & Sc

Mercury Vi Pi Vi Ge & Vi

Jupiter Cn Cp Sg Sg & Pi

Venus Pi Vi Li Ta & Li

Saturn Li Ar Aq Cp & Aq

Rahu Ge Sg Vi Aq

Ketu Sg Ge Pi Sg

Rahu and Ketu's exaltation points are disputed. A parampara treats Ra exalted in Ta and Ke exalted in Sc. Since Ra and

Ke has lordship over no sign so it is a debatable issue.

This chart is very very important so it should on the tips of every astrologer.

I will try to guide you how to remember this chart.

You know the own signs. It simply means Lord of the signs. So everybody knows it.

Now MOOL TRIKONA signs - it must be a sign whose lordship has been alloted to the planet. (except Moon its

MT is Ta) So Sun' MT is Le because these two planets have been allotted only on sign each. Here I must

mention that these have been given lordship of only one sign each so these two are most important in Indian

Vedic Astrology. Apart from Rasi Chakra or Lagna Chakra we consider Su as Lagna and Mo as Lagan too to

decide various facotrs.

Others have lordship of two signs now it is again very easy to remember. Divide them into parts

o Having odd numbers (Normally all male planets and Sa too) in MT

Ma      in    Ar (1)

Ju       in    Sg (9)

Sa       in    Aq (11)

Ve      in    Li (7)

o Having MT in even numbered signs

Me    in    Ve (6)

Ra    in    Vi (6)

Ke     in     Pi (12)

Some says since Ke is very good for spirituality and 12th house is house of Moksha so

12th sign should be its Mool Trikona sign.

For remembering Exalt. and Deb. please try to keep in mind the following chart. + means exaltation and -

means debl & numbers denote the signs i.e. 1 is Ar. 2 is Ta etc

Page 47: Astrology Classes

Now you can simplify a little more. Su is exalted in the sign of Army Chief Mars i.e. Ar(Male sign of Army chief).

Saturn is real son of Sun and it is very inimical with its father so it is debl. here.

I have shown you the way to make anything easy to remember so you have two options either you remember the above

chart which also very very simple to remember or personify them by your logic.

A planet is most comfortable it its Rasi because he is at home. Everybody feel most comfortable in his home so the case

of these planets.

A planet in Mool Trikona is said to be the best place for its work or duty. So the mooltrikona sign is like place of one's duty

(office, workshop, factory etc). You are alert enough here and feel the responsibility to perform the job you are expected to

perform or you have been appointed to perform. So the planet is very very fruitful here. He is bound to do his duty in Mool

Trikona Sign.

A planet when exalted is like you are at your favourite Picnic place. Suppose you like beaches of Goa and you get a

chance to visit it. I will not try to tell your happiness in detail. All of you can imagine the happiness of being there.

A planet in debilitation is the a person is somehow got transferred to a place the most disliked by him. Again I will not try

to express it in words. At a most disliked place one can imagine one's unhappiness, capacity, power etc.

Page 48: Astrology Classes

(1) Ar, Cn, Li and Cp are known as chara rasis or movable rasis. They

are ruled by Brahma, the Creator. Their nature is to move and to be

dynamic.

(2) Ta, Le, Sc and Aq are known as sthira rasis or fixed rasis. They are

ruled by Shiva, the Destroyer. Their nature is to be stable and constant.

(3) Ge, Vi, Sg and Pi are known as dwiswabhava rasis or dual rasis. They

are ruled by Vishnu, the Sustainer.3 They are stable sometimes and

dynamic sometimes.

The badhaka place is 11th sign for all moveable signs from them, 9th sign for all fixed signs and 7th sign for all

dual signs respectively.

The adverse effect, generated by badhaka places, is removed by badhaka place from them (like in vipreet yogas). Thus

badhaka removing place is 7th sign for moveable and fixed signs. And dual sign itself removes it‟s own badha .For

example, if sign Aries is in consideration ,badha sign will be Aquarius and badha removing sign will be Libra. Similarly,

badha sign is Capricorn and badha-removing sign is Scorpio for TAURAS, and badha sign is Sagittarius and

badha-removing sign is Gemini itself for GEMINI SIGN.
