What kind of problems? Shootings and kidnap- ping are the main incidents that have taken place. This has become a com- mon story between our communities. This problem has been ongoing, and we fail to get rid of this recurring issue. The two most important recent prob- lems that have got the community on their toes is the kidnapping of several women from the same area, Perry Barr. Some of you may know these women as neighbours, friends and relatives. The first incident took place roughly 2 weeks ago and the last reported inci- dent roughly two days ago. The clos- est members of the victims have re- ported the case to the police and were sure that they are doing their best. We got in touch with a local neigh- bour, unnamed, who gave us their view and opinion on this recent problem, ‘When I heard of the first missing, we were all shocked, see- ing as we see ‘‘her’’ everyday. The news was passed to everyone, it spread very quickly throughout the neighbourhood, and the police we have seen many officers often walking through our roads, asking about any- thing mysterious, strange they may have seen. We hope that the police is doing the best they can and we hope to get this problem resolved as quickly as poosible’, yet all our family members are frightened and we have to take precautions before leaving the house.. Since these kidnappings, we urge everyone, women, kids, elderly folk to stay home especially during the the dark hours. Please turn to PAGE 4 for full details of this recurrent problem. Sports Cars Roadshow comes to BirminghamThe main issue as stated before, we have said

that these kidnappings have been recently taking place for about two weeks now. Many members, especially the female members of the communtiy are frightened and scared of this mystery kidnapper. We have not seen any cctv footage and no one in the area has seen this kidnapper. There-fore, without any pictures or videos, we are unsure of who to suspect. How can the police tell communtiy members on who to look out for, if they don’t know who this ‘‘criminal’’ is. Does this mean that we should now ask for cctv cameras on the local streets instead of having them on the main roads? I remember just a few months ago, the communty members were ar-guing to the council that they should not have cctv cameras on small streets, as it invades there privacy. Is it now time to change this previous action to stop this recurring problem? We attempted to talk to some of the officers on this issue that were trying to find clues on this ‘mysterious kidnapper’ by asking the communty members. We asked on how their trial was go-ing, whether any progression has been made. Since the first kidnapping, the officers have been on the look out as well as the local neigh-bourhood yet instead of any progress, we think that a regress has been evident, six more kidnap-pings took place. We are unaware of the time this happened or where exactly, no sightings of this ‘kidnapper’ have been seen or no one has reported anything unusual. The only noticable pattern is that these women were kidnapped roughly 3 days apart from each other.

This hasn’t been the first report of kidnapping in our area, it just wasn’t publicised of for a while, let’s say 6-7 years ago. That incident reported then was quickly resolved, the kidnapper, un-named was found living in Perry Barr. They weren’t known in the area, and as reported from several people, he wasn’t much seen and heard of. Could this be a similar story we are fac-ing today? From an interview with several local neighbours, we discovered an interesting story about the missing of one of the women. The man unnamed, told us that his neigh-bour whom he sees nearly everyday in the morning when off to work, didn’t see his neigh-bour, but didn’t take much notice. He stated that she lives alone and has seen friends or family going into her house. But this he saw only some-times, not on a reguar basis. Then after several days of not seeing her, he had heard of the ru-mours that were being spread of the missings and kidnapping, he then contacted the police and found out she was also missing. This had obviously shocked him, and once the news got spread to the whole road, everyone is wary. As said before, we urge all members of Aston, Perry Barr, in fact everyone reading to be wary and to take the neccessary precautious, and if you spot, noticing anything that you think is unusually, to contact the police immediately, you know the number, to avoid anything like this incident hap-pening again.

LOCAL SCHOOL CLEANS UPSome students from Broadway School have been spotted walking through our area with bin bags and brooms for a new attempt to clean-ing the area up. They said that these clean-ups will take place once a week with different students every time. They hope to keep this act up for the rest of the acedemic year and are encouraging others to do the same.
