Corrosion Protection and Inhibition Solutions

Predict and Prevent Corrosion Before It’s a Problem

ASSURE® HI-43DW LDHI CAPABILITIES

The Problem: Deepwater operators use large volumes of methanol and

mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) to protect from hydrate blockages during

operations and shut-in/re-start operations. Traditional anti-agglomerate-

low dose hydrate inhibitors (AA-LDHIs) cause water quality issues, and

do not function at high water cuts and gas to oil ratios (GOR’s). The Solution: Assure HI-43DW low dose hydrate inhibitor (LDHI)

Features: Most used LDHI in Gulf of Mexico (GOM) Deepwater; Won

every major competitor evaluation in the last three years; Proven for

water cuts up to 90%; High GOR applications (up to 100,000); High

sub cooling (up to 38°F); Effective in low salinity (0.05 g/L) systems.

Benefits: Proven track record of 18 applications in the GOM;

Eliminates/reduces MeOH and MEG usage; No water quality issues;

Eliminates hydrate blockage risk; Manufactured in-house; Champion

Technologies patented chemistry.

Assure HI-43DW: Gas Condensate System Problem: High hydrate risk required large amounts of methanol to control. Pump restrictions and supply chain issues prevented the operator from being able to apply enough methanol. Challenge: High water cut gas condensate system and un-insulated 7.5 mile flowlines. Competitor LDHI was not successful. Solution: Apply Assure HI-43DW continuously using existing pumping equipment. Results: Product has been continuously injected since 2010 with no hydrate blockage and reduced/eliminated methanol handling costs. Value: Total savings to customer > $10,000,000, no lost production, deferral of additional equipment cost, and reduced corrosivity of the system.

Assure HI-43DW: MEG system

Problem: Reduced production due to MEG system limitations.

Challenge: Product must allow for increased production, cause no water quality issues, and must not require MEG or methanol. Solution: Inject Assure HI-43DW continuously using existing equipment.

Results: Able to bypass the MEG Regen unit; No water quality issues; No increase in pressure drop; Allowed for increased production; No methanol slugging was required.

Value: > $70,000,000 annually, increased oil production by 2,000 bbls/d, and gas by 20 mmscf/d.

Assure HI-43DW: Black Oil System Problem: Hydrate blockage during shut-in/re-start operations. 50% water cut, three 4.5 mile flowlines. Challenge: Planned to use methanol; Large volumes of methanol required; Penalties for methanol in crude; Concerned about over water quality issues. Solution: Inject Assure HI-43DW during shut-in/re-start operations. Results: Multiple successful shut-in/re-start operations, including a seven-day shut-in/re-start for tropical storm Lee; No lost production and no water quality issues; No crude penalties for methanol content.

Value: $600,000 annual methanol savings and no lost production.

Assure HI-43DW: High Water Cut, Long Un-Insulated Flowlines

Problem: 70% water cut, 26-mile flowline required large volumes of methanol to control hydrates.

Challenge: High water cut and long un-insulated oil and gas flowline, high hydrate potential.

Solution: Apply Assure HI-43DW continuously

Results: No lost production due to hydrate blockage for more than 2 years; No use of methanol; No water quality issues; Lowered flowline corrosivity; No crude penalties for methanol content; Lowered the HSE risks.

Value: $700,000 annual methanol savings. No lost production.
