Xauie, de Kibangay High School is a diocesan school founded in 1995 by Fr. James Mccuire, a Scarboro Fatherfrom Canada. ln the t97o's, a Barangay high school was established in the barrio but had to be closed because it did not meet the requirements necessary to continue its existence. Parents sent their children to the national High school in Lantapan or Malaybalay.- Many of these students ended up quitting school because of the distance, the board and lodging expenses and the limited access to public transportation to and from the city. lt was through the concerted efforts of the Parish and the parishioners with the insistence of the parents that Xavier de Kibangay High School was established. The barangay council was very supportive of this parish project. On June 5,1g95, the first year class was opened with 73 enrollees. The barangay hallwas used as temporary classroom with Sr. Delia Akut, MCM sister assigned in Linabo, Bukidnon as the first principal along with 3 lay teachers (all residents of Kibangay). DECS granted the school a temporary permit to continue its operation. With the generous help of the Parish Council, the parents, the catechists, the Alagads and the Barangay council, Fr. Mc6uire was able to acquire a t.7 hectares of land near old Kibangay. Before he left to go back to Canada, he left funds to build a 4-classroom building. The Parents'Association initiated the construction of the school with the help of the barrio people through the "pahina" or Bayanihan System. Sr. Lorena Batasin, MCM sister took over the administration of the school from t996-1997 and the Canossian Sisters helped in the religious formation of the students. Mrs. Elisa 6. Toledo named Teacher-in-charge of the school in t997-t998. ln May 3t, tg91,the Religious of the Assmption were asked by Bishop Honesto Pacana, S.J. to administerthe school following their phase out from Kadingilan, Bukidnon after zr years of service to the people through education and parish involvement. The library and laboratory building was built through the generosity of Ambassador Bienvenido Tan Jr. The Administration and Home Economics Building was donated by Nedy and trene Martel-Francisco Tantoco.
