GENERAL INFORMATION

Who may nominate a classified staff member?Any full or part time MiraCosta College student who is currently enrolled in credit coursework at either the Oceanside or San Elijo campuses, or the Community Learning Center. Members of the Selection Committee are not eligible to nominate a faculty member.

Number of nominations?Any student may nominate one classified staff member. Any given classified staff member may be nominated by more than one student.

Who is eligible to be nominated?Any classified staff member who has not been away on leave for more than one semester during the current academic year. The previous year’s associate faculty winner is not eligible.

What is the deadline?

Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.

DIRECTIONS1. Complete the Nomination Form . Make sure to include your student identification number

and signature.

2. Complete the Written Response page using the following guidelines: You MUST type or print your responses to the three questions. Give thoughtful consideration to each item and do not leave any question

unanswered. Write a response to question one with no more than 300 words. Questions two and

three require a short response of no more than 100 words each.

3. Submit completed nomination packet.

2013 Classified Staff

CRITERIAOverviewEach nominee will be scored based on two categories: written response (20 points), number of nominations (5 points).

Each written response will receive a portion of the total number of points.Question One - 10 pointsQuestion Two - 5 pointsQuestion Three - 5 points

Category I: Written ResponseEach written response to the three questions will be evaluated by the criteria below. Each individual criteria is worth one point.

Question One - Overall Impression - (10 points)A. Staff member is able to connect working area experience to the outside worldB. Staff member demonstrates genuine interest in students and their welfareC. Staff member builds connections beyond his or her work area, on and off campusD. Staff member participates or promotes student activities (field trips, ASG, clubs, on campus activities,

student-sponsored events)E. Student conveys overall respect for staff memberF. Staff member maintains professionalism G. Student recommends staff member to other student(s)H. Participation in staff member’s program has enriched student's lifeI. Student demonstrates enthusiasm for nominee by submitting a typed or neatly written nomination
