    Title The Straw, the Coal and the Bean

    Characters 3 main characters; a woman, the straw, the coal, and the bean, a tailorPlot 1. A woman was cooking beans. She lit a fire with some straw and a piece

    of it fell to the floor.

    2. Then she emptied the beans into the cooking pot. Plop! One droppedonto the ground beside the straw. A burning coal leapt down from the

    fire to join them with a crackle!

    3. The straw, the bean and the coal congratulated themselves on escapingthe fire which would have destroyed them.

    4. They ran through the open door and didnt stop until they reached alittle brook. But there was no bridge over water, so the straw lay across

    the brook and invited the others to cross.

    The coal leapt at first, but half way over he got scared and couldntmove. As he was still hot from fire, he burned through the straw and

    they both fell into water with a hiss!

    6. Hahaha! the bean laughed so hard that she split in two, and thatwould have been the end of her too, if it wasnt for a tailor who

    happened to be passing.

    7. The tailor kindly sewed the bean back together again. And that is why,to this very day, some beans have a black seam!

    [In a kitchen]

    Narrator :

    Daughter : (from far) Mum, I feel very hungry. Can we have some bean porridge for our dinner

    tonight? Please, mum..

    Mother : Alright then. But you have to help me first here.

    Narrator : So, the daughter helps her mother lit a fire with some straw and a piece of it fell to the

    floor. Then, she put all the beans into the cooking pot. One of the beans dropped onto

    the floor beside the straw.

    Mrs. Bean : Auww!

    Narrator : A burning coal also fell down from the fire and join Mrs. Bean and Billy the straw.

    Coal : (cracking) Ouch! It hurts. Eh, hey Billy. Hey Mrs. Bean.

    Billy : Wow, it was too close just now. If not, we are all will be destroyed by the fire.

    Mrs. Bean : Well, yeah. But we have to get out from here now before those two monsters catch for

    us.

    narrator : They ran through the open door and did not stop until they reached a small drain.

    Mrs. Bean : So, what about now? I cannot get through this. There is no bridge here. (sad)

    Billy : (thinking) Hmm.. I can be the bridge. (lay across the drain)

    Mrs. Bean : Coal, you first.

    Narrator : the coal was very excited to cross the drain but suddenly, he got scared and could not

    move. Since he was still hot from the fore, he burned through the straw and fell into the

    water together. (splashing)

    Mrs. Bean : Hahaha! You two are very pity.

    Narrator : The bean laughed so hard until she split into two.

    Mrs. Bean : (crack) Oh, no.. What is happening to my body? Help!

    Billy and Coal : Hahaha! Serve you right!

    narrator: Suddenly a tailor passing through the place and Mrs. Bean ask Mr Tailor to sew her body

    back together again. And that is why; some beans that we found today have a black

    seam.
