  • Instructions Regarding Homework Assignments

    1. For homework assignments that require solving problems, please make sure that

you solve the problem systematically (step-by-step) and show all the steps in the submitted homework. Submitted homework that contains only the final answer, without the intermediate steps showing how the final answer was derived, will be penalized. One of the primary goals of the homework assignments is to ensure that you have understood how to arrive at the final answer. The value of the final answer is just one factor in the overall score assignment for the homework.

    2. Homework is due by the end of the class period on the specified day unless

specified otherwise. Any homework received after that will be considered late. As a general rule, late homework will not be graded.

    3. Homework will be collected in class only. Homework submitted in any other manner

(leaving homework in instructor's mailbox, sliding homework under instructor's office door etc.) will not be graded. If you cannot come to class on the specified day, contact the instructor before the homework due date, to discuss alternative arrangements.

    4. Late homework will be accepted only under special circumstances (such as medical

reasons) that are clearly documentable and verifiable. In such special circumstances, the student will be required to show the proper documentation as proof (such as a note from the attending physician), which may be verified for authenticity.

    5. Each student is expected to do his/her own work when doing the homework

assignments. Team work on homework assignments is not allowed unless explicitly specified. While you may discuss the homework problems and solution strategies with your friends and/or classmates, the work you turn in has to be yours and should reflect your effort and your understanding of the material.

    6. Staple ALL the homework sheets together and PRINT your name clearly on the

    homework.
