ASSIGNMENT 2
QUESTION 1
Large building need to be demolished by machinery components because of few
factors The factors are!"
• To reduce the time needed to demolish a building
• To sa#e cost
• Only s$illed person will do demolishing wor$s
• %an reduced labor cost
QUESTION &
'(NU(L )E'OLITION E*+LOSION )E'OLITION
• )emolition process start from
the top of a building until the
ground
• ,efore demolishing- structure
of the bulding need to studied
to de#elop a blasting design• Use hand"held tools such as
.ac$ hammer
• Use dynamite
• )emolition wor$ assessed by
competent person
• )emolition wor$ assessed only
by e/pert

1 %ompressor The purpose of the compressor is to draw the low"temperature- low"
pressure #apour form the e#aporator #ia the suction line Once drawn- the
#apour is compressed hen #apour is compressed- it rises in
temperature Therefore- the compressor transform the #apour from a low"
temperature #apour to a high"temperature #apour- in turn increasing the
pressure The #apour is then released from the compressor in to the
discharge line
& The e#aporator

The purpose of the e#aporator is to remo#ed unwanted heat from
the product- #ia the li2uid refrigerant The li2uid refrigerant contained
within the e#aporator is boiling at a low pressure The le#el of this
pressure is determined by two factors!"
" The rate in which heat is absorbed from the product to the li2uidrefrigerant in the e#aporator
" The rate in which the low"pressure #apour is remo#ed from the
e#aporator by the compressor
To enable the transfer of heat- the temperature of the li2uid
refrigerant must be lower than the temperature of the product being
cooled One transfered- the li2uid refrigerant is drawn from the e#aporator
by the compressor #ia the suction line hen lea#ing the e#aporator coil
the li2uid refrigerant is in #apour form

0 %ondenser
The purpose of condenser is to e/tract heat from the refrigerant to
the outside air Usually installed on the reinforced roof of the building-
which enables the transfer of heat 3ans mounted on the condensor units
are used to draw air through the condensor coils The temperature of thehigh"pressure #apour determines the temperature at which the
condensation begins (s heat has to flow from the condenser to the air- the
condensation temperature must be higher than that of the air- usually
between 1&4c to "14c The high"pressure #apour within the condenser is
then cooled to the point where it becomes a li2uid refrigerant once more-
whilst retaining some heat The li2uid refrigerant then flows from the
condenser in to the li2uid line

5 E/pansion 6al#e
Located at the end of li2uid line- before the e#aporator The high"
pressure li2uid reaches the e/pansion #al#e- ha#ing come from the
condenser The #al#e then reduce the pressure of the refrigerant as it
passes through the office- which is located inside the #al#e On reducingthe pressure- the temperature of the refrigerant also decreases to a le#el
below the surrounding air This low"pressure- low temperature li2uid is
then pumped in to the e#aporator

3actor that affect escalator design !
(i) Physical requirement
The #ertical and hori7ontal distanced to be spanned must be considered
These factors will determine the length and pitch of the escalator The
building infrastructure must be able to support the hea#y components
(ii) Location
The escalator should be located where it can be easily seen by the general
public In department stores- customers should be able to #iew the
merchandise easily In addition- up and down escalotor trafficshould be
physically seperated and should not lead onto confines spaces
(iii) Traffic pattern
The traffic pattern should be also be anticipated In some buildings- the
ob.ecti#e is simply to mo#e people from one floor to another- but in others
there may be a more specific re2uirement- such as funneling #isitors
towards a main e/it or e/hibit The escalator- must be design to carry
there2uired number of passengers
(i) Safety consi!eration
Escalators are re2uired to ha#e mo#ing handrails that $eep pace with the
mo#ement og the steps This helps riders steady themsel#es- especially
when stepping onto the mo#ing stairs Occasionally- a handrail will mo#e
at slightly different speed from the step- causing it to 8creep9 slowlyforward or bac$ward relati#e to the steps The lose of the synchroni7ation
between handrail and step speed can result from slippage and wear
() Aesthetic preferences
The architects and designers can choose from a wide range of styles and
colors for the handrails and tinted side panels
