PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Plastic surgery medical coding can be confusing, but it is critical to every practice to accurately interpret and report medical procedures and services. If coding is incorrect, reimbursement is delayed and office staff has less time to spend with patients.
The ASPS Coding Workshops will teach you how to improve your communication with the payers and how to comply with all regulations. We will provide a coding workbook for your reference to help you avoid the coding pitfalls.
Code it right every time – make your practice more efficient, obtain appropriate reimbursement, and focus on quality patient care.
INTENDED AUDIENCE
This educational activity is designed specifically for plastic surgeons and their office staff teams including office administrators, practice managers, billing companies and billing/coding specialists.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Utilize the changes in 2013 CPT codes that affect plastic surgery practices.
Explain the major changes in 2013 Medicare regulations.
Apply correct CPT coding concepts to common plastic surgery services including breast reconstruction, skin lesion removal, flaps and grafts, and wound debridement procedures.
Discuss application of evaluation and management codes for services provided when the majority of the office visit is spent counseling the patient.
Describe two aspects of a successful revenue cycle.
Identify one way to prepare for implementation of the new ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding system.
ACCREDITATION
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons® (ASPS®) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
DESIGNATION
ASPS designates this live activity for a maximum of 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
This activity has prior approval of the American Academy of Professional Coders for 12.0 Continuing Education Units. Granting of this approval in no way constitutes endorsement by the Academy of the program, content or the program sponsor.
