At the end of their first year, Year 7 pupils were asked “What is it like being in Year 7 at Ryedale School?” and “What have you most enjoyed about Ryedale School this year?” Here are some of their answers…..

Tabitha Willshaw said: “I was scared about getting lost but I soon got the hang of where the classrooms are and I didn’t need to use a map!”

Millie-Anne Foster said: “When I started at Ryedale I was terrible at sports but I have got much better and I am in a few sports teams!” Alex van der Heijden said: “I recommend doing the lunchtime clubs as they are a great way to make friends as well as finding something you are interested in and could do in the future. Also, it increases your chances of getting in the school teams and competing against other schools.”

Page 17: Aspire & Achieve...253 : Hutton-le-Hole, Lastingham, West End Ampleforth Ampleforth, White Swan Spaunton Appleton-le-Moors Oswaldkirk Catterbeck Leysthorpe Cottages Sinnington (inc

Imogen Clegg said: “When I first came to Ryedale School I was anxious I wouldn’t make friends, but within the first day I knew I had made some loyal friends. Teachers also made lessons really fun which I didn’t think would be possible. I am so glad I chose to come to Ryedale!” Haydn Vity said: “PE in my perspective is the best lesson because it is good for your health, the teachers are nice, you learn a lot and most importantly ir is really fun because there is a whole variety of different sports to play. Don’t be worried because I am positive you will find a sport you love!”

William Pepler said: “When I started at Ryedale I was nervous, I never felt able to put my hand up in lessons. However, after a few weeks, I grew more confident to do so.” Jack Deighton said: “I was worried about finding my way around but staff and students are very helpful and having your planner helps as well!”
