Kato Keizan I (1886-1963) was born in Tajimi, Gifu prefecture and moved to Kyoto

to open a kiln in Gojozaka in 1912. He specialised in Longquan-style celadon

ceramics, often referred to as "tenryuji seiji”, with the majority of his work

replicating the style of Yuan and Ming Dynasty China. His works are represented

in the collection of the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto.
