Ashok holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from therenowned VJTI, Mumbai and a Master’s in Management Studiesfrom the prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of ManagementStudies. He is also a certified six sigma black belt from the MotorolaUniversity.

Prior to joining Mahindra, he has held successful leadershippositions in various Indian and multinational corporations like Godrej& Boyce Manufacturing Co, Videocon International, and DaewooElectronics.

Since 1998, he has been with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and hasheaded diverse functions including sales, channel, marketing, qualityand strategy, where he contributed significantly to increasingMahindra’s market share in the tractor business and in sustainingits leadership position. Ashok was also instrumental in developing anintegrated ‘One Mahindra’ strategy for the Automotive and FarmEquipment sectors in South Asia and Africa.

Ashok heads the Business Excellence and Innovation functions forthe entire Automotive and Farm Equipment businesses of theMahindra Group. Under his leadership, Mahindra’s Agri-businessportfolio, comprising fresh produce, irrigation, crop developmentand protection inputs, staples, and dairy, has grown around 12 foldin the last 5 years. Today, it is one of India’s largest grape exporterwith a strong customer base in Europe and South East Asia.

Under Ashok’s leadership, the business launched India’s firstpremium fresh fruit brand Saboro, initiated Saboro Dairy businessin Indore, launched NuPro Mustard Oil in Kolkata and NuProPulses in Mumbai, initiated the new-age Saboro Lounge businessand has also established ‘Farm to Fork’ presence across the Agrivalue chain.

Ashok has also been instrumental in articulating and pursuingMahindra Agri-businesses’ vision of Delivering Farm TechProsperity. It is his passion and commitment to this vision thatenables Mahindra to positively impact more than 100,000 farmerlives each year through its Samriddhi network of agronomy, input,and buy back centres.

Ashok has big ambitions for Agri-business. He aspires to makeMahindra Agri-business an end-to-end solution for all the farmerneeds. He wants to make the brand ‘Samriddhi’ synonymous withIndian Agriculture and wishes to enable more than 2 millionfarmers to Rise by 2022 through the efforts of Mahindra.Samriddhi Centres have so far impacted the lives of around778,000 farmers and through six editions of Mahindra SamriddhiIndia Agri Awards, have attracted more than 198,000 agriculturalinnovations and success stories till date. In the seventh edition, theAwards have attracted more than 60,000 nominations. Also, as adirect extension of Mahindra’s presence across the value chain,he has exciting plans to create a strong food brand from thestable of Mahindra.

Ashok is also one of the foremost authorities in the world of quality.He has led Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector, Swaraj Division, andour Powerol Division to successfully challenge the prestigiousDeming Prize, and under his leadership Mahindra Farm EquipmentSector successfully claimed the Japan Quality Medal.

Ashok is an advisor to the Union of Japanese Scientists & Engineers(JUSE), Chairman of the CII TPM Club of India, and serves on theTechnical advisory committee of the TUV. He also serves as aMember, CII Africa Committee and CII Western Regional Council.

In his spare time, Ashok enjoys reading and meditating. He lives withhis wife in Mumbai and has a son who holds a dual degree inEngineering and Management from UC Berkeley.
