We had a great time exploring the scripture, studying how to prepare our minds and hearts for prayer, and learning how God wants us to pray. Ultimately it was a weekend of encouragement as we dive deeper into our year-long study on spiritual discipline. We challenged each other to step out of our comfort zones and ask the Lord to make us his and no longer our own. We want to be able to share this with the church as a whole and live it in our daily lives as we continue our walk with Christ. The theme song for the week came from John Wesley’s Covenant Prayer. It reminds us that we must give ourselves up to God and that being a Christian is a way of life, not just a system of beliefs. We promise to serve Him as Lord, in union with the church, and we renew our promise to live as faithful members of His church and serve as his representative. -Ryan Keith “I am Yours, no longer my own Put me to whatever you will Place me with whomever you choose I am Yours and You are mine I am Yours, no longer my own Raise me up or bring me low Use my all or lay me aside I am Yours and You are mine” -Wesleyan Prayer (Come like a Fire) Mark Swayze SAVE THE DATES Sunday, December 9 th 6pm, Children’s Play, “A Family Christmas Sing-a-Long”, Ashland Hall Sunday, December 16 th , One Service at 11 am, Choir Cantata, “Appalachian Winter” Sunday, December 23 rd , 8:45 am, The Path Christmas Music Special Monday, December 24 th , 5:30 pm Christmas Eve Candlelight Service Followed by a Fellowship Drop-in in Ashland Hall

Twenty-sixth Sunday after Pentecost November 18, 2018 11:00 A.M. The Chiming of the Hour

The chiming of the hour is a call for us to shift from conversation to silence, as we prepare our hearts and minds to worship God.

Wash us thoroughly from our iniquities, and cleanse us from our sins. For we acknowledge our transgressions, and our sin is ever before us. Create in us clean hearts, O God, and renew a right spirit within us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Welcome!

Please sign the friendship pad when it is passed to you and pass it to your neighbor.

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Gloria Patri

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

Doxology Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Remember in Prayer Lynne Mahaffey; Mylla Markland; Bill Turner; Claire Dickerson, granddaughter of Linda Dickerson
