Extensive efforts were made to preserve the contents of the originaldocument.  However, certain portions, such as diagrams, programlistings, and indexes may have been either altered or sacrificed dueto the limitations of plain vanilla text.  Diagrams may have beeneliminated where ASCII-art was not feasible.  Program listings may bemissing display codes where substitutions were not possible.  Tablesof contents and indexes may have been changed from page numberreferences to section number references. Please accept our apologiesfor these limitations, alterations, and possible omissions.

Document names are limited to the 8.3 file convention of DOS. Thefirst characters of the file name are an abbreviation of the originaldocument name. The version number of the etext follows next. (t1) - Introduction ________________________________________________________ # Welcome to the world's first-ever icon-driven adventure: Shadowfire -rescue from Zoff V.

MISSION BACKGROUND# At this time starships can jump from star to star using their hyper-drives. They are unable to jump into a planet's orbit. General Zoff, traitor to the Empire exploits this situation. His skyfortress,Zoff V, lurks behind the perilous asteroid belts which ring planetNorgol. There he plots the conquest of the Empire's peaceful worlds.

# However, plans for a new kind of starship do exist. They propose acraft called Shadowfire, able to jump from planet to planet. If Zoffhad the plans he could ravage any part of the empire. If the Emperorhad the plans he could destroy Zoff.

# Unfortunately, Ambassador Kryxix has the plans, hidden in a micro-discembedded in his spine. The ambassador is held captive aboard Zoff V.In a few short hours Zoff's inquisitors will discover the plans, unless the Empire's Enigma team can rescue Kryxix.

# Enigma, is a shadowy organisation dedicated to te Emperor's service. Its operatives are the cream of the Empire's legions, the worst of itscriminal scum or the latest development in cybernetics. Its missioncontrollers are dedicated. That is why you have been chosen to headthis mission. The Empire commands! Your team awaits!
