The Holy Season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday March 1st

Ashes will be imposed at Santa Maria Parish at the following times only: 7:00 am Mass 8:30 am Mass for Santa Maria School Children 11:00 am Mass 3:30 pm Liturgical Service 7:00 pm Mass 8:00 pm Mass in Spanish

Lenten Regulations:

ABSTINENCE: All Catholics who have reached their 14th birthday are bound to abstain totally from meat on the following days: Ash Wednesday, all Fridays of Lent, & Good Friday. FASTING: All Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 are bound also to observe the Law of Fast on the following days: Ash Wednesday (March 1st) and Good Friday (April 14th). Fasting, that is, eating less, involves limiting oneself to a single full meal and avoiding food between meals. Lighter nourishment may be taken on two other occasions in the course of the day but this should not equal a full meal. If you are sick you are dispensed. EASTER DUTY: All Catholics who have reached the age of reason must confess their serious or mortal sins in the Sacrament of Penance at least once a year during the Easter season.

First Friday: March 3rd - We will have Exposition, Adoration and Benediction immediately after the 7:00 PM Mass.

Pray as a family! How? Take five minutes of your day...turn off the radio, the television, the cell phone...sit comfortably in front of the Crucifix or a Holy Picture...then slowly pray one Our Father, three Hail Marys and one Glory Be. You are praying for the health, the unity and the holiness of your family...and for vocations...to the priesthood and religious life. If you live alone...we ask that you pray with a relative, friend or neighbor or come to Church to pray with us. Let us continue this prayer revolution! Let us transform Santa Maria and our community. Without prayer...there is no communication with our Heavenly Father!
