Na industrial term denoting a product's theorical reserve capability; usually computed by dividing the catalogMinimum Brak Load by the Work Load Limit.
What do we need to know for a good job?
- What is the weight of the piece to be lifted?- What is the capacity of the crane or hoist that will be used?- Where is the load's center gravity?- Are there lifting points at the piece to be lifted? How many?- How many Slings and accessories will be necessaries for the service?- How will be used these products? Vertical, Basket or Choker?- Is there Sling angle? In positive answer, what is the value of angle?
- Is the Work Load Limit of the products appropriate to the operation?- Are there labels and/or tags indicating the WLL of products?- Do the products have a Quality Certificate?- Are there sharp corners in the piece? In affirmative case, how many and what kind of protections will be used?- Which additional safety practices will be necessary, so that we can have a safety operation?

LIFTING CHAIN (Grade 8) INSPECTIONProducts made of Grade 8 steel, have high mechanical strength and high performance in dynamic applications. However, are also subject to wear fatigue. The fatigue is a mechanical phenomenon natural to all types of steel, caused due to the usage time and the number of working cycles which the materialissubjected.Fatigue causes the material to lose its mechanical strength, causing deformation, elongation and subsequent rupture.
THE CHAINS MUST BE REMOVED FROM SERVICE (DISCARDED) WHEN:(1) show deformation by bending, twisting, kneading or notching;(2) Show elongation bigger than 5% at pitch of the chain, it can be caused by plastic elongation (overload) and / or wear diameter by friction.(3) show, at any point on its length, diameter reduction of 10% or more.
EXPOSIÇÃO A ALTAS TEMPERATURAS REDUZEM A CARGA DE TRABALHO DA CORRENTE:
Temperatura:
Entre -40°C e 200°C - Não há alteração na Carga Máxima de Trabalho. / Between -40°C and 200°C - No change in WLL.
Entre 200°C e 300°C - Redução de 10% na Carga Máxima de Trabalho. / Between 200°C and 300°C -10% reduction in the WLL.
Entre 300°C e 400°C - Redução de 25% na Carga Máxima de Trabalho. / Between 300°C and 400°C -25% reduction in WLL.
HIGH TEMPERATURE EXPOSURE REDUCES THE WORK LOAD LIMIT VALUE.

EXPOSURE TO SHARP CORNERS MAY REDUCES THE WORKLOAD LIMIT VALUEWhenever possible, we must avoid sharp corners. But if not possible, we shall use the chain, assuming that your work load limit will be reduced up to 50%.For chains, it is considered sharp corner when the corner radius is smaller than 2 x chain diameter.
NOTE: In case of doubt, call our technical department.

WHAT IS STAINLESS STEEL?
DOES STAINLESS STEEL CORRODE?
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AISI 316 AND 304 STAINLESS STEEL?
Stainless steel is an alloy of Iron with a minimum of 10.5% Chromium.
Although stainless steel is much more resistant to corrosion than ordinary carbon or alloy steels, in somecircumstances it can corrode.Chromium reacts with the oxygen in the air to form a complex chrome-oxide surface layer that is invisible but strong enough to preventfurther oxygen from "staining" (rusting) the surface.
The main difference is the high resistance of corrosion and chemical composition.
The addition of molybdenum at SS 316 become it more resistant to corrosion than 304.So, use the AISI 316 for added protection and durability!

STAINLESS STEEL “GALLING” EFFECT
Stainless steel threads have a tendency to join permanently after some time of use. This occurs more frequently in turnbuckles! While the turnbuckle is being tensioned, the thread will slide causing the pressure rise and friction between the surfaces of thethreads of the screws. After some time of use, the pressure between the thread, may cause micro fusions in parts of the thread screw surfaces. Thisphenomenon is known as effect "Galling".Once that occurs the "Galling", the piece will be unusable because it will be impossible to reverse it.To avoid this, apply a lubricant at the threads when using the turnbuckle.
