COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS IN BUILDINGS ( one-day session )

Deployment of Super-Fast Broadband in all areas for the general public represents a considerable challenge. The digital arrangements, the deployment programmes, the schedule, funding, how to carry the plan through, how to prevent a digital divide, which solutions should be used (FTTH, broadband upgrades, mobility), the impacts on pick-up and service infrastructures, the players involved, the usages and services, the social and cultural consequences, the impact on job creation, relationships, political communication etc.

A host of topics to be debated over two and a half days.

Apply to the organisation committee for your talk before Monday 17 November 2013.

Communications systems are becoming the strategic centres of buildings, with many and varied fl ows: communication, heat regulating, energy control, comfort, security, access control. All these parameters mean that buildings cannot be designed today the way they were designed yesterday. How can we take these new requirements on board in residential and tertiary-sector buildings?

ProspectsSmart buildings• Impact of networks on the functioning and performance of buildings• Impact of the obligations of buildings to perform, and of new usages on

networks and their architectures• Developments in the design and operation of buildings, the cradle of

new technologiesCampuses, districts, smart cities• Communications networks and associated usages: video protection,

access control, dynamic display, 4G, etc.• Development of urbanisation: the services/usages expected, impact

on technologies catering for the new usages/services

Architecture of networks, products and technologiesTertiary buildings• Fibre networks in buildings (FTTo, FTTD, POLAN, etc.)• Smart buildings, GTC, GTB and associated networks• Feedback, specifi c problems in connection with health, education,

industry, etc.• What broadband speeds should be used for certain applications, the

future of +10GB cabling in buildings?• Should 4G be deployed by an internal system at the building?Residential buildings• FTTH• Super-Fast Broadband on copper systems: VDSL, G-fast, and their
