    INTRODUCTION

    Akhtar Hameed Khan National Centre for Rural Development &

    Municipal Administration (AHKNCRD) was established as a federal

    training and research institution in the year 1979 and become operational

    in 1983, it was declared as an attached department of the Ministry of

    Local Government and Rural Development in 1988. In recognition of

    invaluable services rendered by late Dr. Akhtar Hameed Khan for the

    cause of community development, strengthening of civil society and

    socio-economic empowerment of the poor and marginalized people living

    in informal settlements in Pakistan, Government of Pakistan renamed

    NCRD as Ahktar Hameed Khan National Center for Rural Developmentand Municipal Administration (AHKNCRD). After the announcement of

    three new ministries by Cabinet Division w.e.f 29th

    July 2011, NCRD has

    become the attached department of Ministry of Education and Trainings;

    Its activities focus on four related programmes: -

    Training courses;Conferences, Seminars and Workshops;Learning and Research;Liaison with international agencies.

    Besides, catering to the training and research needs of rural

    development, municipal administration themes, AHK NCRD liaises with

    various international agencies like CIRDAP, SAARC, APO, UNICEF,

    ILO, FES, ESCAP & AARDO, LOGOTRI and other such organizations

    engaged in rural uplift endeavors.

    The Centre is situated at a distance of 10 km. from Faizabad on Park

    Road, Chak Shahzad. The Campus is located on 12 acres of land

    comprising administrative block, auditorium, conference room,

    classrooms, faculty offices, Library and hostel apart from a small

    residential colony for the employees.

    The Annual Training Calendar 2012-2013 highlights the details of NCRD

    training programmes proposed to be organized during this year. The

    agencies interested to designate their functionaries in any of the

    specific training programmes may, however, confirm the dates

    again. Two Computer Labs have also been established at NCRD to

    conduct Computer and IT related trainings.

    No training fee is charged from participants for all of the courses.

    However, the departments / organizations of the nominees bear the

    cost of TA & DA etc.

    Hostel accommodation for participants on double occupancy basis is

    available at affordable rates. Besides accommodation mess facility is

    available on self-financing basis.

    AHK NCRD also extends logistical, secretarial and faculty support to

    national and international organizations for seminars, workshops and

    training courses.
