Come view these small gems along with a variety of other works by Forrestall and many more of Atlantic Canada’s finest contemporary artists. Current exhibitions continue to Sunday, March 8, 2015. Upcoming exhibitions include Bedroom Paintings by Stephanie Weirathmueller and a group exhibition: Home. Gallery 78 is located at 796 Queen St. (corner of Church and Queen) in Fredericton. We are open from Tuesday to Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday 10am-3pm, Sunday 1-4pm or visit virtually at: www.gallery78.com. Back to top.

The original production was nominated for a record-setting fourteen Tony Awards and won six. The plot revolves around Bobby, a single man unable to commit fully to a steady relationship, the five married couples who are his best friends, and his three girlfriends. Unlike most book musicals, which follow a clearly delineated plot, Company is a concept musical composed of short vignettes, presented in no particular chronological order, linked by a celebration for Bobby's 35

th birthday. Back to top.

8. Heavy Metal at the UNB Art Centre Mar 13 -Apr 9 Rock out with ArtZone as they unveil their recycled electronic creations at a special opening night of Heavy Metal, Friday, March 13 at 9pm. For the past month, UNB’s student art collective Artzone has been collecting electronic waste and recycling it into art. It is estimated that 50 million metric tons of e-waste is dumped into landfills around the world. Many of the hazardous materials found in discarded electronic devices leach into the soil during rainfall and can have dangerous effects on our eco-system. Heavy Metal is part of an environmental awareness project in support of the UN initiative, World Water Day.

12. NB Film Co-op’s Monday Night Film Series presents Citizenfour (Mar 16) and Foxcatcher (Mar 23) March 16, 2015 - 7:30pm at Tilley Hall, UNB Campus Citizenfour Laura Poitras Germany/USA, 2014 Portuguese/German with English subtitles 114 Minutes Principal Cast: Edward Snowden, Glenn Greenwald, William Binney In January 2013, Laura Poitras (recipient of the 2012 MacArthur Genius Fellowship and co-recipient of the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service) was several years into making a film about surveillance in the post-9/11 era when she started receiving encrypted e-mails from someone identifying himself as “citizen four,” who was ready to blow the whistle on the massive covert surveillance programs run by the NSA and other intelligence agencies. In June 2013, she and Greenwald flew to Hong Kong for the first of many meetings with the man who turned out to be Edward Snowden. She brought her camera with her. The fi lm that resulted from this series of tense encounters is absolutely sui generis in the history of cinema: a 100% real-life thriller unfolding minute by minute before our eyes. Citizenfour not only shows you the dangers of governmental surveillance—it makes you feel them. After seeing the film, you will never think the same way about your phone, email, credit card, web browser, or profile, ever again. Nominated for Academy Award for Best Documentary and winner of Golden Globe for same. March 23, 2015 - 7:30pm at Tilley Hall, UNB Campus Foxcatcher Bennett Miller USA, 2014 English 114 Minutes Principal Cast: Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo, Vanessa Redgrave, Sienna Miller Foxcatcher is a psychological drama directed by Academy Award nominee Bennett Miller (Moneyball) and starring Golden Globe winner Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Academy Award nominee Mark Ruffalo, Academy Award winner Vanessa Redgrave and Sienna Miller. The film was written by E. Max Frye and Academy Award nominee Dan Futterman. Foxcatcher tells the story of Olympic Gold Medal-winning wrestler Mark Schultz (Tatum), who sees a way out from the shadow of his more celebrated wrestling brother, Dave (Ruffalo), and a life of poverty when he is summoned by eccentric multi-millionaire John du Pont (Carell) to move onto his estate and train for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Desperate to gain the respect of his disapproving mother, du Pont begins “coaching” a world-class athletic team and, in the process, lures Mark into dangerous habits, breaks his confidence and drives him into a self-destructive spiral. Based on actual events, Foxcatcher is a gripping and profoundly American story of fragile men who pinned their hopes for love and redemption on a desperate obsession for greatness that was to end in tragedy. This term, 13 limited release, independent, foreign, and Canadian films will be shown. The film series is open to everyone. Regular admission is $7; Member’s admission is $4. January-April Memberships are $20 (regular), and $12 (Students/Seniors (65 years and up)/NBFC Members). Memberships are available at the door. For further info, contact NB Film Co-op at 455-1632, [email protected], or http://www.nbfilmcoop.com/exhibition/monday-night-film-series. 14. Espresso Yourself: Coffee House and Silent Auction Mar 20 The Fredericton Pride Committee will be hosting a Coffee House and Silent Auction on Friday, March 20 at 6:30pm at the Roxstone Cafe. Guests will be able to browse donated items while listening to talented local artists sing, play music, and read poetry. Food and drink will be available to purchase from the lovely staff at Roxstone Cafe. Admission is $5; money raised will go toward costs needed during Pride Week, including our fifth annual Parade and Festival. If you are also interested in participating in the 2015 Parade and Festival, applications will be available by request. Pride Week and the events leading up to it are very important to our community. Pride week is the one time of the year when sexual minority groups find visibility in the larger Fredericton community. It is a chance to raise awareness and celebrate our diversity. We understand poetry and song is a venue for sharing your experiences; however, this is an all ages event and we would like it to be a safe space for everyone. For that reason, we are asking performers not to share pieces with triggering content. We are talking big trigger issues such as violence, suicide, and self-harm. It is OK to express some anger, frustration and sadness. For more information visit the Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/974219912599131. Back to top.

17. Gallery 78 Gears Up for Home Exhibition Mar 27 It’s still a couple of weeks to opening but some of the artwork for Gallery 78’s next exhibition, Home, is starting to make itself known. Get a sneak peek at work by Fredericton artist and academic Danielle Hogan. Danielle is a PhD candidate at UNB who is exploring concepts of the feminine, art making, and valuing time and effort both in the creative process and in daily life. Her latest series of tiny watercolour paintings explores the layers of our lives as exposed by the lint caught in our dryers. Hogan’s young and growing family has loads of laundry and her renditions of the various forms taken on by her family’s dryer lint offer a reflection on the day to day and the mundane in daily life. The group exhibition Home will open March 27 alongside Bedroom Paintings by Fredericton artist Stephanie Weirathmueller. Look for details on-line beginning March 24, 2015. Gallery 78 is located at 796 Queen St. (corner of Church and Queen), in Fredericton. We are open: Tuesday to Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday 10am-3pm, Sunday 1-4pm, or visit virtually at: www.gallery78.com. Back to top.

8. Theatrical Design Workshop Beginning and experienced playwrights, designers and directors from Mount Allison University and the professional theatre community are invited to attend Theatrical Visualization of New Plays, a workshop to be conducted by leading Canadian Theatre Designer, Roger Schultz. The workshop will focus on the creation of a functional, evocative visual world for playwrights’ work, through exploration of practicalities and use of image. In a world in which television and film are our primary visual influences, examining that which is inherently theatrical is paramount to the development of the contemporary playwright. The relationship between designer, director and playwright will also be examined, as well as the difference in approach for designers working on a first production compared to a previously produced script. Activities will include an informal presentation of the designer’s work, which will be open to the public, and a practical, hands-on workshop. The presentation will take place on March 20 from 3:30 – 4:30pm, followed by the first workshop session from 4:45-6:30pm. Additional sessions are to take place from 2-5pm on March 21 and 22. All activities will take place in the Motyer-Fancy Theatre, Purdy Crawford Centre for the Arts, Mount Allison University. Theatrical Visualization of New Plays is presented with the support of the Marjory Young Bell Fine Arts Award in partnership with the Playwrights Atlantic Resource Centre. The workshop is free and individuals can register by contacting Andrea Boyd at [email protected]. Back to top.
