Art lovers are invited to meet with local artists and view their artistic talent in a studio setting as part of the sixth annual Studio Tour, presented by The Artists of the Superstitions, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 3 and 4.

Thirty-one studios present the work of 70 artists in the Apache Junction and Gold Canyon areas, with many artists

giving demonstrations. This free, self-guided tour provides a diverse selection of art that can be purchased directly from the artists.

Visitors can choose from a variety of media including paintings, glass, fabric, jewelry, sculpture, pottery, gourds, photography, wood, fiber art and more. Artists will be available to answer questions and share information about their creations.

Complete information can be found at artistsofthesuperstitions.com. Maps are available at select locations in Apache Junction and Gold Canyon and on the website. Locations to obtain maps will be listed on the website a week before the event.

Fall art showAn assortment of fine art created

by members of The Artists of the Superstitions will be showcased during the group’s Fall Holiday Art Show, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sun., Nov. 25 in the Big White Tent at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort, 6100 S. Kings Ranch Rd. in Gold Canyon.

Shakespeare among roses

A comical compilation of some of Shakespeare’s most enduring and immortal characters makes up the original story of “Falstaff,” presented by Southwest Shakespeare Company 7:30 p.m. Sat., Nov. 19 in the Rose Garden at Mesa Community College (MCC), 1833 W. Southern Ave., on the southeast corner at Dobson Road in Mesa.

“Falstaff,” a new adaptation of several works by William Shakespeare, is drawn from “Henry IV,” “Henry V” and “The Merry Wives of Windsor.” This new work follows a rollicking path through the life, loves and schemes of this fat, vain, boastful and cowardly knight known as Sir John Falstaff.

The evening of food, drink and Shakespeare amongst the roses benefits both the MCC Rose Garden and Southwest Shakespeare Company. An hors d’oeuvres reception starts at 6:30 p.m. with the performance following. There will be silent and live auctions, with evening festivities ending about 9 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $100 per person. All seating is general seating and there will be no ticket sales at the door. Tickets are available at swshakespeare.org. You must be able to print your own tickets. For more information, call 602-535-1202.

Artists sought for January show

Artists representing a wide variety of media are asked to fill out an application to participate in the 13th annual Gold Canyon Arts Festival, set for Jan. 26, 2013, on the grounds of the United Methodist Church at 6640 S. Kings Ranch Rd. in Gold Canyon. Deadline for submission is Nov. 30.
