What is Malaria?

Malaria is one of the most prevalent parasitic diseases across the world. It is caused by a genus of parasitic protozoans called the Plasmodium. Four species of Plasmodium protozoa have been identified as causative agents of malaria: P. falciparum, P. Vivax, P. ovale and P. malaria. The disease is transmitted by the Anopheles mosquito in tropical and subtropical regions.
