Construction starting soon Work on the new Frankston station is beginning. The Level Crossing Removal Authority (LXRA) and its construction partner John Holland/KBR will be building the new station and at the same time removing the dangerous Skye/Overton Road level crossing just down the road. Running these two projects at the same time will minimise disruptions to rail users, and get the job done sooner. Genton Architecture, the winner of the Frankston station design competition in March 2017, has recently been working with LXRA to further refine the design to best suit the needs of the local community and commuters. What facilities will the new station have? The new station will have: • New station buildings and comfortable waiting room • Improved access for people with a disability • MYKI gates and customer service office • Passenger information displays • Customer kiosk • Improved lighting, hearing loops and security cameras • Improved screens and landscaping • Passenger toilets • Platform seating • Raised platform surfaces. Raising the platforms will reduce the gap between the train and the platform. This means no more big steps up or down when getting on or off the train at Frankston. Frankston Station Precinct Redevelopment The Frankston Station Precinct Redevelopment will deliver a safer, more modern station and encourage more investment in Frankston. A number of projects are underway to deliver the recommendations in the Frankston Station Precinct Master Plan. Construction – what you need to know Works within the station precinct will begin in February while trains are still running. The station will remain open during this time, however there will be some changes to the way you access the station. We will keep you informed of these changes ahead of time.

There will be several weekend rail line disruptions during the year, as well as a longer disruption when we knock down and re-build the station. This will be coordinated with work on the Skye/Overton Road level crossing and will be in the second quarter of 2018.

Services on the Stony Point line will keep running throughout the majority of construction.

We will let you know well ahead of time about upcoming disruptions, including when the station will be closed.

What we’ve heardWe know that there has been disruption over the past year as part of the Young Street Improvement Project. We will be working closely with traders in the area to minimise disruption while we build the new station.

Stay in touchWe will be providing regular community updates during construction. These will be distributed locally, including at the station and local shops. We will also be sending email updates to subscribers. Sign up now at levelcrossings.vic.gov.au/subscribe to get the latest project updates.

You can also speak with our project team by coming into our level crossing Info Hub on the corner of Skye Road and Farrell Street, Frankston (Monday to Friday 9am-5pm). Opening hours for the Revitalisation Hub at 62 Young Street, Frankston will be advised on www.levelcrossings.vic.gov.au.
