A M101 howitzer was modernized ending as a modern howitzer with new caliber 33 which allows it to fire modern ammunition and achieve reaches higher than 18 Km. The modernization consists of:

• Replacement of the existing barrel caliber 23 by a new Cannon caliber 33;• Adjustment of the new double baffle muzzle brake, very effective;• Replacement of the closing and locking block (keeping the same shape and dimensions, and using asteel with higher strength);• Installation of new hydro-pneumatic balancer instead of the existing spring balancer to compensate thegreater mass of the barrel; and• Assembly of two additional masses in the paths to improve the stability of the weapon during the shot.• The howitzer is transported by a 4 x 4 vehicle with cargo capacity of 4.5 tons and a hook trailer of heightfrom 700 mm to 800 mm.
