IN THE LAST TWENTY YEARS ARTHEMISIA HAS BECOME A WOLRD LEADER IN THE ORGANIZATION OF MAJOR ART EXHBITION WHICH HAVE OBTAINED INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS
ARTHEMISIA: THE ART PROFESSIONALSArthemisia is Italy’s leading company in the production, organisation and staging of art exhibitions. Arthemisia has introduced and consolidated a new way of creating exhibitions, and is now a national and international point of reference for the organisation and production of high quality art events. Since 2000 we have produced more than 300 exhibitions, many of which have launched innovative trends in exhibition organization.
Arthemisia directly handles every aspect of production.Ideas and projects are handled by our Project department: working in collaboration with leading academics we conceive future exhibitions and assess their feasibility. Working alongside our project department, the International department ensures that our exhibition projects are proposed throughout the world.
Loan requests and relationships with lending bodies are managed by our Registrar’s office: every day we are in contact with the major museums and institutions in Italy and worldwide. Our reputation is well established and we also act as consultants.
Our catalogues and publications are handled by our Publication department, which works with curators and authors to plan exhibition catalogues, and collaborates with publishers from the start of the project to the printing of the catalogue.
Our Exhibition office, which boasts a team of affirmed professionals, handles all the work involved in managing and staging exhibitions: installation, insurance, transport, security, ticketing, bookshop, audio guides, etc.
Our Education department guarantees that the key themes of each exhibition are communicated in the most effective way: each single visitor is important to us, and we adapt the language we use in our exhibitions to all age groups, taking particular care with material designed for children.
The Communications office is responsible for promoting our events as widely and strategically as possible: an event produced by Arthemisia never goes unnoticed.
ARTHEMISIA
Our Graphics office boasts professionals of long-standing experience who translate our exhibitions into effective, stylish images, with outstanding results.
Our Press office - one of the most established and experienced in the art field - guarantees that our events receive extensive media coverage.
Arthemisia also acts as a technical and scientific advisor to museums, both in Italy and internationally, and other event organisers, including public and private bodies wishing to stage temporary or permanent exhibitions, or those who simply want to promote an art event in the most effective way.
Arthemisia offers three different operational approaches when it comes to staging an event:1. Co-production: Arthemisia coproduces events with public or private bodies, taking on a percentage of risk that varies according to the project, exhibition venue and specific situation; 2. 100% production: Arthemisia handles the entire production of the exhibition, taking on the full business risk; 3. “Ad-hoc” service: Arthemisia organises and delivers services to event organisers, either full-service, covering all aspects of the exhibition, or on an ad-hoc basis, providing the services requested.
Whatever the project, Arthemisia guarantees top-level experience, the utmost reliability and sharp business acumen, as well as the maximum on-site involvement during the actual event. We are the ideal partners: on hand, attentive, highly specialised and capable of adapting our professional expertise to respond to our partners’ needs.

PALAZZO ALBERGATIBOLOGNA
BASILICA DELLA PIETRASANTANAPLES
Arthemisia has been managing Palazzo Albergati since 2015, opening with two important exhibitions, one dedicated to the famous artist M.C. Escher and the other to The Brueghel Dinasty.
Palazzo Albergati is located in the heart of the historic center of Bologna, with its façade 54.70 meters long, which took its final shape around 1612.The construction of the building took place on the foundations of ancient aristocratic “palazzo” and began in April of 1519.It was commissioned by the Albergati family and the architectural project, traditionally traces back to Baldassare Peruzzi. The entrance leads to a courtyard where a plaque informs the visitors of the passage of the Russian Tsar Nicholas I in 1845.
The building houses two exhibition spaces, one located on the ground floor - with a beautiful frescoed ceiling by Francesco Gessi (Bologna 1588-1649) representing mythological scenes of the first half of the XVII century as well as frescos attributed to Andrea Sirani (1610-1670). On the first floor, the “piano nobile”, there is the second exhibition space decorated with a treasured frieze by Bartolomeo Cesi (1556-1629) representing the Stories of Hannibal. Among the subjects of greater visual impact, the passage of the Alps and the battles with the elephants.
The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Pietrasanta is located in the heart of the city of Naples. It is called “della Pietrasanta” (of the Pietrasanta) from a stone with an engraved cross with the image of the Madonna. The Church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Pietrasanta was the first church in the city to be dedicated to the Virgin. The building was erected in the VI century as an early Christian basilica on a pre-existing structure dating back to Roman times (it appears to have been built on the remains of the Temple of Diana, goddess of the hunt) and has a circular plan. The present church, built between 1653 and 1678, was designed by Cosimo Fanzago who rebuilt it in the Baroque style. Noteworthy is the façade that remained unfinished at the level of the second order, while the portal, built by Pietro Sanbarberio, dates back to 1675.The church then underwent other restorations between the XVIII and IX centuries, but the bombings of World War II seriously damaged it. Although first restoration was completed in 1976, the basilica has recently been returned to its original splendour thanks to conservation work completed with UNESCO funding. Today the basilica presents itself as a two level multi-purpose structure: ground floor and hypogeum. The exhibition area on the ground floor is approximately 1.120 square meters.

PALACIO DE GAVIRIAMADRIDPalacio de Gaviria is a mid-nineteenth-century palace in Madrid designed by the architect Aníbal Álvarez, under commission from the Marquis Manuel de Gaviria y Douza, a banker and stockbroker. Well related with the court, the Marquis chose the location for the palace between Puerta del Sol and the royal palace. The palace, also known at the time as Palacio de Buena Esperanza in allusion to another of the Marquis of Gaviria’s aristocratic titles, opened in 1851 with a ball presided by Queen Isabella II. Made according to the Italian style then so much in fashion, the inspiration for the palace came from Palazzo Farnese in Rome. The building is laid out around two courtyards and an imposing staircase with a marble balustrade, still intact today. The staircase is decorated with classic-style sculptures in ornamental niches. The palace’s Andalusian courtyard has been recently restored and converted into an additional exhibition space of sm. Thus, one of the first areas the public comes across is the chapel, an outstanding part of the palace, complete with altar, sacristy and a dome with four medallions, four pendentives with angels and four lunettes. Also worth noting in the public area are the ceilings, painted in their day by Joaquín Espalter y Rull, an artist trained in Italy. One can also admire mirrors and other original elements that decorated the palace’s salons, whose arrangement is respected in all exhibitions on view here. Since February 2017 Palacio de Gaviria has housed exhibitions of the most well-known artists like: M.C. Escher, Alphonse Mucha, the group exhibition Duchamp Magritte Dalí. 20th Century Revolutionaries and Tamara de Lempicka.
