As a child, Beatrix Potter was encouraged to draw and spent many hours making intricate sketches of animals and plants. Often using her pet rabbit, Benjamin Bouncer as a model, she created wonderful art featuring rabbits wearing bibs, and mice whose paws are busy with spinning, knitting and sewing. Beatrix Potter’s first children’s book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, was published in 1902 by the London firm Frederick Warne & Co. It was an instant success and Beatrix went on to produce a total of twenty-three ‘little tales’,
