TheclosestinternationalairportsareSanFrancisco(SFO),Oakland(OAK),SanJose(SJC)andFresno(FAT).Youcangetmoretransportationinformationonourwebpage,iss.ucmerced.edu.

TheGraduateDivisionarrangestwoairportpick-upsintheweekbeforethestartofGraduateandResearchOrientationWeek(GROW).Thesedatesarenotavailableuntilsummer.Theinformationwillbesenttoyoubyemail.Lookoutforthisinformationifyouwouldliketoarrangetobeononeofthesetwoshuttles.Thisserviceisforgraduatestudents.

PublictransportationinCaliforniaisnotsimilartotransportationinmostcountries.BesuretoplanappropriatelybeforearrivinginCalifornia. ThereisanAMTRAKtrainthatstopsinMerced.ThereisalsotheBayAreaRapidTransitSystem(BART),butthistraindoesnottraveltoMerced—itstopsinPleasanton/Dublin,stillalengthydrivefromMerced.Taxis,UberorLyftwillcostseveralhundreddollarssowerecommendyoumakepriorplanstotakeAMTRAKorBARTtoAMTRAK.ThereisalsotheGreyhoundBus.

TherearevariouskindsofhousingoptionsinMerced.Manystudentsareabletofindavailableroomsinhouseswhereyoucan

livewiththehomeownerormultiplestudents.Therearealsoapartmentsthatrangeinsizefrommultiplebedrooms,one
