Appointments

• Referees panels – Premier, B, C, JRC, 1st Year• Commence 2011 where finished in 2010• 1st Year referees are placed in JRC panel• Transferees are sighted by selectors and placed

in a panel– take into account the referees history

• Appointments are coordinated by ARFU referee administrator

• There is a rotation of games for referees within their panel

• Final sign-off of appointments are by referee manager

Promotion - Demotion

• There is a maximum number of referees in each panel guided by numbers of games

• Each panel has base set of criteria• When a referee may be promoted or demoted:

– The panel coaches and head coach request a sighting– The referee will be viewed by two of the three selectors– The referee & referee’s coach will be given information

about the referee’s work-on areas– If the referee has no personal coach the panel coach

will receive this information and work with the referee prior to a follow-up sighting

Premier panel - 15

• Criteria– L2 Exam annually– 3 physical monitoring

sessions– On field performance

as seen by 3 selectors– Lead Monday practical

and panel sessions– Work with Academy– Mentor other referees– Hosting visitors

• Appointments– Premier 8– 1st XVA 6– U21 8– Or below

– On reserve

B Panel - 40

• Criteria– L1 Exam annually– L2 Exam – open book– 2 physical monitoring

sessions– On field performance

as seen by selectors & coaches

– Assist Monday sessions

• Appointments– Reserves 8– U21 8– U85kg 14– 1st XVA 6– Assistant referee– Or below– On reserve

C Panel - 50

• Criteria– L1 Exam annually– L2 Exam - open book– 1 physical monitoring

session– On field performance

as seen by selectors & coaches

– Buddy to assistant referee

• Appointments– Senior 1-3 12– U19 8– U85kg 14– Secondary School– Women 4– Assistant referee – Or below– On reserve

• Criteria– L1 Exam annually– L2 Exam optional– 1 physical monitoring

sessions - optional– On field performance

• Appointments– U11 - 13 club– Lower Secondary

Assistant Referee Panel

• Appointed to premier games

• Appointed to finals and semi-finals

• Appointed to representative matches

• Appointed to other matches– A buddy

• No1. assistant referee is the reserve referee

Appointment Policy

• In the main appointments will be consistent with this policy

• From time to time situations will arise where it is necessary to deviate from this policy

• Such occasions are authorised by the Selectors in consultation with the Referee Manager

• Finals and semi finals appointed to best performing referees in their respective panels– Feedback is taken from:

• Referee coaches & selectors• Club & school team coaches
