No one from the IRS made the call. •Mark Alan Parras, 34, was charged with violation of a restraining order. Feb. 1 •Nathan Lee Richardson, 22, was charged with obstructing a peace officer/firefighter. •Anthony Dean White, 22, was arrested on a community placement violation. Jan. 30 •Curtis Upchurch, 22, was arrested on a failure to comply warrant. Jan. 29 •David Wayne Bueno, 27, was arrested on a Sterling Police Department warrant for failure to appear in court. Jan. 28 •Justin Arlyn Medrano, 35, was arrested on Sterling Police Department charges of menacing and domestic violence. •Crystal Anne Gonzales, 31, was arrested for violation of a protection order. •Leeanna Dawn McCauley, 26, was arrested for a parole violation. Continued From Page 2 Esta Amelia Matthews, 94 of Sterling (formerly of Wray), was born on Dec. 2, 1920 and passed away Mon., Jan. 26, 2015 in Sterling. Funeral services were held on Fri., Jan. 30, 2015 at Chaney- Reager Funeral Home in Sterling with Rev. Norman Stott from the Wray United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was held at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Matthews’ honor may be made to the Esta Matthews Memorial Fund in care of Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, 443 S. 2 nd Street, Sterling, CO 80751. Esta was born in Sterling to Bertram and Mabel Smith Wilson. She grew up on her parents homestead in Northwest Yuma County and attended school at Plainview and Sterling, graduating in 1938 from Sterling High School. Her parent’s home burned to the ground in 1932 and the family moved to Sterling at that time. She and her parents joined Christ United Methodist Church in 1933. She later became a member of the Wray United Methodist Church. Esta’s first job was at Woolworths working part time while in school. She also worked at cafés where her mom cooked. She worked in the catalogue department at Montgomery Wards after graduation and Firestone until she had to quit to care for her mom who was losing her sight due to cataracts. She worked as a seamstress to help out and continued to work as a seamstress much of her life making all of her daughter’s clothes and several wedding dresses including her own and her daughters. In August 1946 she met her dream man, Charles Matthews, at a dance. They dated for three years and married on Nov. 30, 1949. They settled in the Padroni community and had two daughters, Patricia and Charla. The couple moved to the Matthews family farm in 1956. Esta went to work in Sterling in 1967 managing Scott’s Fabrics. While living in Iliff, she was a 4-H leader, belonged to several clubs and served on the advisory committee to the LPN program at Northeastern Junior College. In 1968 the family moved to Wray to farm and Esta worked at Ken Lane Clothing and Houtz Drug Store. She belonged to several clubs and was always active in her Extension Club and Bon Ami. She also worked as a travel agent for 10 years. Esta was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 1998, brother Howard Wilson, her parents and her son in law Bill Cox. She is survived by her daughters Patty Cox from Wray, and Charla Castle and husband Gary from Atwood; grandchildren Matt Cox from Thornton, Philip Cox and wife Andria from Wray, Brittany Kloberdanz and husband Josh from Atwood, Tanja Castle Davis and husband Joe from Chicago and Trenton Castle and wife Kayla from Thornton; great grandchildren Ean White, Jordan, Caleb, Blake and Chloee Kloberdanz, Taylor, Nicole, Ryan and Andrew Davis, William Castle and Ben Breidenbach and her sister in law Mary Jane Chapman in Westminster. Chaney-Reager Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Jan. 27 •Following a traffic stop, deputies charged Jacob Gandee, 24, with violation of a restraining order and possession of an open marijuana container. Desiree Gandee, 22, was also arrested for possession of a schedule II controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, violation of a restraining order and resisting arrest. Both were book into the Logan County Jail. •Edgar Rene Morales, 30, was charged with failure to appear in Sterling Municipal Court, providing false information to pawn, unlawful possession of a controlled sub- stance, possession of an authorized controlled substance theft of $5,000- $20,000 and criminal possession of a financial device. •Cheyenne Alicia Richards, 22, was charged on two failure to appear warrants, one from the Logan County Sheriff’s Department and one from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Jan. 26 •Cody Tucker, 21, was arrested for failure to pay fines. Colorado State Patrol Jan. 27 •Troopers arrested Harry A. Holensworth, 55, on an escape warrant from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.
