h f hHigh Performance Lighting System
h lLED Technology
h ?LED = Light Emitting Diode
What is a LED ?LED = Light Emitting Diode• It’s a solid state (electronic component) of miniature size. • It has no filament, no gas, no powder filling which makes it
a robust and reliable source of light.I b i d i l li h i li i• It can be integrated in almost any lighting application.
• The only source of current light technology, which can match the listed high performance parameters, is LED.
Energy efficiency Energy efficiency Sustainability ‐ Non polluting Long life through operation Easy control No harmful emissions No harmful emissions Compatibility with renewable energy power generator
ff• The energy efficiency of LED
Energy EfficiencyThe energy efficiency of LED products is defined by the ratio of power input (watts) to light output (lumens).
• Today, LED efficiency exceeds
160 Lumens/Watt
• LED is a highly energy efficient• LED is a highly energy efficient lighting technology available on the market, and has the potential to fundamentally change the future of lightingchange the future of lighting.
b l llNon Polluting Light Source
Sustainability – Non PollutingNon Polluting Light Source• A perfect candidate for LEED requirements and Dark Sky strategy compliance (USGBC)
• LEDs are fully recyclable and do not contain toxic materials like mercury, found in fl d di h l N h f l i h iflorescent and discharge lamps. No harmful impact on the environment.
Conventional Lighting LED Lighting
f h hLong Life Through Operation• The lifetime of a LED light Lamp Type Lifetime (Hrs)The lifetime of a LED light
source can be up to 10 times longer than that of traditional light sources.
p yp ( )
LED Up to 50 000
Metal Halide Up to 12 000• LED light sources last longer,
therefore reducing the frequency of lamp replacement.
High Pressure Sodium Up to 24 000
Linear Fluorescent Up to 20 000
• This significantly reduces waste but also saves money in the long term.
CFLs Up to 10 000
Halogen Up to 4 000
Incandescent 1000
lEasy Control• LEDs are very easy to control andLEDs are very easy to control and
are fully dimmable.
• Control is achieved by PWM (Pulse Width Modulation).( )
• Popular control protocols: Digital: DALI – DMX 512.. Analogue: 1‐10V
• This is not the case for HID lamps like Metal Halides and HPS.
f lNo Harmful EmissionsNo harmful emissions in the visible and non visible spectrumNo harmful emissions in the visible and non‐visible spectrum• UV is the most harmful light emission, it represents 40% of the causes of color fading, whilst extended
exposure to visible light and heat can be the cause at 25% of the cases.
LED f f h ill i i f i i i l N i f d UV i i• LEDs are safe to use for the illumination of sensitive materials, No infra‐red or UV emissions.

their light output is twice as high.• The dimmability of LED luminaires makes it easy to adjust the lighting to cope with various activities and y y j g g p
usage periods.

high illuminance levels and high uniformity ensure a warm reception and a high degree of safety.• This convenient car park is made perfect by luminaires arranged along both sides of the lanes ensure
uniform and bright illumination of the parking and transit areas.• In this way, superior lighting quality is combined with high energy efficiency and low maintenance y, p g g q y g gy y
costs, thanks to durable LED luminaires.• Calculations comparing the modern LED lighting solution with a conventional solution using T26
fluorescent lamps and magnetic ballasts result in energy savings of 35 per cent.

To integrate with the room architecture, and replace the conventional lighting quickly and easily. To achieve significant energy and maintenance savings, for the lowest possible investment. To be controllable in harmony with the natural light. To offer high comfort levels for employees.g p y To improve productivity by providing higher and better quality light.

• The system output fell from 4,600W to 2,220W; a 52% reduction.
• By ensuring the optimum control of the daylight, energy savings of up to 72% can be realized.y g p y g , gy g p
• After five years, the cost savings will be more than € 15,000 or € 126 per month.
• What is more, CO2 emissions will be reduced by at least 8 tones.
• Thanks to the constant glare free lighting at their workstations, employees experience better quality lighting with higher light levels, which in turn provides better visual comfort and aids concentration.

Bouygyes Telecom covering 45,400 m² over 23 floors.
• The challenge was to reduce the average energy consumption to 90kWh/m²/year, which is 3 to 4 times less than a tower building in the “La Défense area of Paris”.g
• One of the key aspects of the design was to prioritize the use of daylight in the space where possible.
• The unique solution of comfort and light balancing is in the combination of lighting and solar protection management systems (Automated venetian blinds)
• The blinds are activated to manage thermal heating, to reduce visual glare discomfort and to take advantage of the sun’s position for natural light as required
dCase Study – Tour Sequana• When the blinds are closed the artificial light levels are boostedWhen the blinds are closed, the artificial light levels are boosted.
• When the blinds are opened the artificial lighting is dimmed down.
• With this management of artificial light and daylight the Tour Sequana targeted energy consumption g g y g q g gy plevels have been met and ensures the best level of indoor comfort in terms of light levels and glare.
