    -Army limit explained-

The army limit system has been totally transformed from the original Warlords Battlecry game.

This document explains how to read the new system and skillfully use it in The Protectors mod.

First off, the units in TPC need food now and all army limit issues will be dealt in food. Food is

obtained from all buildings built or con!erted" and some researches, spells, skills and upgrades.

Consumption of food is done by all units, including hero, armies, retinue, characters and critters.

#n game, the army limit display can be seen on the top left corner of the screen.

There, you will see two numbers constantly changing, separated by one or two slash symbols

(/). The first one represents the food storage, while the second one shows the food income.

In this image, the storage has 1 units of food left while production and

consumption of food brings an income of !" per in#game second.

Incomeshows by what amount the storage will be modified per in#game second. If the countershows /" li$e in the picture abo%e, then the food reser%es in your storage will grow by " per in#

game second (resulting in a &1 storage ne't second in this case, then & and so on). If there are

two slashes (//) instead of one, then the numbers shows expenditureof food or negative

income. This happens when food production is smaller than food consumption (ha%e less

    buildings than units, army#point wise).

In this image, the storage has *+ units of food left, while production and

consumption of food brings an e'penditure of per in#game second. In the ne't

second of the game, the storage indicator would show *&.

Storageshows how much food reser%es you ha%e left. Income will increase this number,e'penditure will decrease it and if there is no income and e'penditure (/) then it will not be

modified. -hene%er the food in the storage runs out, a star%ation indicator will appear. -hile

thestarvationte't is %isible, the counter on the left shows how bad your units are star%ing or a

    negative storageand the income/e'penditure wor$ in re%erse (/ decreases and // increases

    it).

In this image, the units are star%ing by *+ points, and are getting ! hungrier

    per in#game second.

During starvation periods, you cannot train more units (you will be announced that you ha%e

too many menwhene%er you try) and suffer a morale reduction. To end these periods, you

need to decrease the star%ing points to ero by ma$ing income (or decreasing the e'penditure

below ), meaning building more structures and/or loosing more units. nce you ha%e income

and star%ation is or below, the te't will disappear and all restrictions will be remo%ed, while the

number on the left will start showing food reser%es again.

That sums it up. 0fter e'perimenting a little you will soon learn that it is better to a%oid star%ation

or escape it as soon as possible, while in some conditions it is better to ma$e a huge and

hungry army to defeat your opponents. -hats more, guessing what the enemies reser%es loo$

li$e based on their unit and building numbers re%ealed through scouting will ma$e you de%elop

strategies to tip the tides of war into your fa%or by a great amount. The rotectors food system

truly ma$es unit management and attac$ timing more important, while the battles o%erall

    become larger2
