NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON APPLICATION OF ROBOTS IN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY-2015 [ARMI-2015] 13 th and 14 th June 2015 COORDINATORS Dr.P.HARIHARAN Dr.A.SURESH BABU Organized by DEPARTMENT OF MANUFACTURING ENGG. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, GUINDY ANNA UNIVERSITY CHENNAI-600025 In Collaboration with MTAB ENGINEERS (P)LTD. under Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) Objective of the workshop: This workshop will provide opportunity to school completed students a base to robotics and inspire them about potential contribution of the incorporation of robotics in the automation of manufacturing industries The workshop focuses on application and use of technology rather than their internal working for better understanding. About the workshop: Industry has benefited drastically from the expanse of a robotic work force. Automated machines have taken over the duties of dangerous and mundane jobs from humans, allowing greater productivity. Because robots never tire, extra shifts have been added to factories. The idea of a factory with no human workers has come to fruition. IBM runs a "lights off" factory in Texas completely staffed by fully autonomous robots making keyboards. The resource persons of the workshop have ample years of experience in the areas of robots manufacturing and operation who shall cover application possibilities of robots in manufacturing industries. Department of Manufacturing Engineering is proud to organize this 2 day National level workshop covering topics on application of robots. The Workshop is conducted in collaboration with MTAB Engineers (P)Ltd under corporate social responsibility. . About Anna University: Anna University was established on 4 th September 1978 as a unitary type of University. It offers higher education in Engineering, Technology and Allied Sciences relevant to the current and projected needs of the society. Besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge gained there from, it fosters cooperation between the academic and industrial communities. About College of Engineering, Guindy : College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG) in Chennai, India, is India's oldest engineering and technical institution, having been established in 1794. Today it is one of the four constituent colleges of Anna University. It's one of India's premier technical institutions preferred by the eligible top scorers. It was started in May 1794 as a School of Survey and established as a college in 1859 under the Madras University, and is one of the oldest technical institutes in the world. It is the oldest engineering institute in India. It has link-ups with institutions and organizations like USAID, UNCHS, Ford Foundation, European Economic Community and the Governments of Germany and UK. It was the first college in the country to have its own postage stamp when the Indian postal service brought out a postage stamp to mark the 200 th anniversary of the institution. About Department of Manufacturing Engineering: The Department of Manufacturing Engineering (DoME) plays an active part in the programmes offered by the prestigious Anna University. DoME was established in the year 2002 (formerly known as the Production Engineering Division under the Department of Mechanical Engineering established in the year 1967). DoME is well-committed to grooming technically competent Manufacturing Engineers and Research Testing & Consultancy in cutting edge technologies. Its major strength consists of brilliant and top class students, highly qualified and dedicated faculty members, state of the art infrastructure, modern laboratories, research oriented curriculum, well stocked Departmental Library and excellent training facilities. Research areas of DoME include CAD/CAM/CIM, Metrology and measurements, Robotics, Micro machining, Non– traditional machining, Nanomaterials, Composite Materials, Rapid prototyping and Manufacturing etc.
