Useful tips Never use your washing

machine to wash... torn, frayingor non-hemmed linen. If it isabsolutely neccessary, place it ina bag for protection. Do not washcoloured linen with whites.

Watch the weight! For best results, do not exceedthe weight limits stated below(figures show weight of drygarments):

- Resistant fabrics:5.5 kg maximum

- Synthetic fabrics:2.5 kg maximum

- Delicate fabrics:2 kg maximum

- Pure new wool:1 kg maximum

How to wash almost anything Curtains.

Curtains tend to crease a greatdeal. A useful tip to reducecreasing: fold the curtains andplace them in a pillow case ormesh bag. Do not load anythingelse inside the appliance, this willensure that the overall weightdoes not exceed the half load.Remember to use the specificprogramme 10 which automa-tically excludes the spin cycle.

Trainers.Once you have removed mud anddirt from trainers, you can evenwash them with jeans or anyother tough garments. Do notwash trainers with whites.

Quilted coats and anorak. You can wash quilted coats andwind-cheaters, too, if they arepadded with goose or duckdown. Do not load more than2-3 kg and never load 5.5 kg.Repeat rinse once or twice usingthe gentle spin.

How much does it weigh?1 sheet 400-500 gr.1 pillow case 150-200 gr.1 tablecloth 400-500 gr.1 bathrobe 900-1,200 gr.1 towel 150-250 gr.

Coloured T-shirts, printedones and shirts last longer ifturned inside out before washing.Printed T-shirts and sweatshirtsshould always be ironed insideout.

Dungaree alert.Very popular salopette typeoveralls have straps with hooksthat can damage the drum of yourwashing machine or othergarments during the wash. Tominimise the risk, place hooks inthe pocket and fasten with safetypins.

Holidays: unplug theappliance. It is recommended that youshould unplug the machine fromthe socket and turn off the watersupply. Leave the door ajar toallow air circulation to the drawand the door gasket area. Thiswill prevent unpleasant odours.

Margherita - Instructions for installation and use

You must follow the dosagerecommendations provided bythe manufacturers when addingdetergent or fabric conditioner.Doses will vary according to thewash load, the water hardness andhow soiled the washing is.Experience will help you selectthe right dosage almostautomatically: it will becomeyour secret. Before adding detergent for pre-washing in compartment 1, makesure that the extra compartmentfor bleach 4 has not been inserted.Ensure no overfilling when addingfabric conditioner in compart-ment 3.The washing machine automa-tically adds the softener to thewash in each programme.Liquid detergent is poured intocompartment 2 just a fewseconds before starting the washcycle.

In compartment 1:Detergent for pre-washing (powder)

In compartment 2:Detergent for washing(powder or liquid)

In compartment 3:Additives (softeners, perfumes, etc.)

In compartment 4:Bleach and delicate bleach.

Useful tips about the detergent dispenserIts important for a good wash

The first secret is the easiest: the detergentdispenser is opened by rotating it outwards.

Remember that liquid detergentis only designed for wash cyclesof up to 60 degrees on non pre-wash items, so you will not haveto use button I.Special containers are sold withliquid or powder detergents forplacing inside the washingmachine drum, these arepositioned according to theinstructions found in thedetergent boxNever use hand wash detergent, because it may form too muchfoam, which could damage thewashing machine.Detergents that are specificallyformulated for both hand andmachine wash are an exception. One last secret: when washingwith cold water, always reducethe amount of detergent you use:it dissolves less easily in coldwater than in hot water, so partof it would be wasted.

Cutting costs efficiently A guide toenvironmentallyfriendly and economicuse of your appliance.MAXIMISE THE LOAD SIZE

Achieve the best use of energy, water, detergent and time by using therecommended maximum load size.SAVE up to 50% energy by washing a full load instead of 2 half loads.

DO YOU NEED TO PRE-WASH?For heavily soiled laundry only!SAVE detergent, time, water and between 5 to 15% energy consumption byNOT selecting Prewash for slight to normally soiled laundry.

IS A HOT WASH REQUIRED?Pretreat stains with stain remover or soak dried in stains in water beforewashing to reduce the necessity of a hot wash programme.SAVE up to 50% energy by using a 60°C wash programme.

BEFORE USING A DRYING PROGRAMME ...SAVE energy and time by selecting the highest suitable spin speed to reducethe water content in laundry before using a drying programme.

Bleach cycle and stain removalbuttonIf bleaching is necessary, the ex-tra case 4 (provided) must beinserted into compartment 1 ofthe detergent dispenser. When pouring in the bleach, becareful not to exceed the "max"level indicated on the centralpivot (see illustration). The use of the additional bleachcontainer excludes thepossibility of using the pre-washcycle. Traditional bleach canonly be used on sturdy whitefabrics, whereas delicatebleach can be used forcoloured fabrics, syntheticsand for wool.

You cannot bleach with the Silkprogramme and with the specialprogrammes (see page 4).Use the stain removal buttonevery time you want to bleach.Should you want to do itseparately you must pour thebleach into the additionalcontainer 4, press button H(stain removal), start thewashing machine, then selectone of the symbols accordingto the type of fabric. When you bleach during anormal wash cycle, pour thedetergent and any additives inthe special compartments, pressbutton H (stain removal), set theprogramme you desire and turnthe washing machine on.

The detergent dispenser can beremoved and cleaned: just lift it upand pull it outwards ,as indicated inthe figure. Then leave it under runningwater for a few minutes.

Treat your machine well and it will providemany years of trouble free service

Easy Care and Maintenance

Your washing machine is a reliable companion in life and on the job. It is just as important for you tokeep it in shape.

Margherita is a washing machinedesigned to provide reliableservice over many years. A fewsimple steps will help to prolongits life and avoid problems. It isadvisable, to turn off water tapswhen the machine is not to beused, this protects the hoses, etc.If the water in your area is toohard, use a deliming product(water is hard if it often leaveswhitish stains around taps ordrains, especially of bath tubs. For more accurate information asto the type of water in yoursystem, call the local waterworks or a local plumber).Pockets must always be emptiedremoving even pins, badges andany other hard object. The washing machine exteriorshould be cleaned with a ragdipped in lukewarm water andsoap.

Never exaggerate withdoses.Normal detergents alreadycontain deliming agents. Only ifthe water is particularly hard, that is, rich in lime content, dowe recommend the use of aspecific product at every wash.A periodical wash cycle with adose of a deliming product, without detergents or washing, may prove useful.Never use too much detergent oradditives because this could cau-se an excess amount of foam, scaling and possible damage tothe component parts of yourwashing machine.

When in need, check the pump and the rubber hose.Margherita comes equipped with a self-cleaning pump that does not require any cleaning or maintenance. Small objectsmay accidentally fall into the pump: coins, hair clips, loose buttons and other small items. To avoid possible damage, they are withheld in an accessible pre-chamber, situated at the lower end of the pump.

It is important towash the detergentdispenser regularly.

To prevent driedwashing powder fromaccumulating, placethe dispenser underrunning water for a

few minutes.

Do not forget to empty all pockets: small objects can causedamage to your friend Margherita.

Attention: Before attempting to examine this pre-chamber,first ensure that the machine has finished its programme andis empty. Unplug the machine, as with any maintenance.

To gain access gently ease down the top of the plinth panelsituated at the base of the machine, with a screwdriver etc,to release it. Then ease the top edge forward to allow it to belifted clear (Fig. 1). Place a shallow dish or tray below thecover of the pre-chamber to catch the small amount of waterpresent. Release the cover by turning anti-clockwise (Fig. 2).Ensure that the cover is securely replaced.Re-fit the plinth cover by inserting the hooks on its loweredge into the slots and ease the top edge back into position.

The water inlet hoseCheck the rubber hose at least once a year. If you see any cracks, replace it immediately. When you use your washingmachine, water pressure is very strong and a cracked tube could easily split open.
