Are Humans Still Evolving?Does Darwin’s theory of natural selection work for our species?
To explain that new forms of a gene result from mutation.
To evaluate the reasons for change in a species.
.
“Candidates should develop an understanding of the timescales involved in evolution.”
This is a little tip from the examiner about what will help you to answer questions about this topic.
A*
I can give many reasons which are concise, linked and in order of
importance. I compare my reasons to science theories to make future
predictions. I use my own research.
A
I can link my detailed reasons together showing cause and effect. I can
put/sequence my reasons in order of importance or time order. I can see the
big picture. I am using SKW's when needed.
B
I can give several detailed reasons but they are not related or linked. I can back
up my ideas with evidence and use a range of SKWs. I can explain how two
species have an evolutionary relationship.
C
I can give more than 1 reason to say WHY something is like it is using a few
SCIENCE Key Words (SKW'S) and explaining words like "because", "so,
"consequently" etc.
DI can give 1 reason to say WHY
something is like it is. I am using the word because.

Step 1
• Find one website that has some information about what a mutation is and how they occur.
Step 2
• Then copy your sentence and paste it into a sticky note on our canvas on lioit.com.
Step 3
• One, snag, if the sentence is already there you must find a different one!
OK, now you’ve done that – tell me, what has mutation got to do with the theory of evolution and our worms?
Step 1
• Open up a blank word document and put the names of both people in your pair in the header.
Step 2
• Read the latest post on www.biologypostgcse.wordpress.com
Step 3
• Copy and paste it into a word document then highlight as many different arguments as you can find.
How to highlight your text
Highlight your text and click on this symbol and choose a colour!! Easy!
Now repeat using at least 2 more websites!!

If you do your own research and finds some websites independently then you will automatically gain a better grade for your writing.
A/A* Grade skill
The next step is to now group my information together so cut and paste all the pink sections into 1 paragraph, all the yellow sections together etc.

For Grade B and above:•The next step is to now group your information together.• So cut and paste all the pink sections into 1 paragraph, all the yellow sections together etc.
Now cut and paste all the sentences of the same colour together.
1. Write out what you have found out in your own words, use evidence!!
One of the biggest threat to Mountain Gorillas is the Ebola Virus which killed 1/3 of Gorillas between 1992 and 2007. Ebola is deadly to humans and Gorillas because it .........., Gorillas can also catch human germs and get diseases which can kill like TB and Scabies. The Gorillas catch these diseases when they steal food from farms and come into contact with humans so the numbers of gorillas are decreasing fast.
2. Google for extra information – e.g. I might Google about the Ebola virus to find out exactly how it kills.

For A grade
• Arrange your paragraphs in order of importance.
• Use a linking sentence at the end of one paragraph to the next threat paragraph.
What do the arguments that humans have
stopped evolving have in common?
Proof read your finished work!!• Make sure your sentences say exactly what you meant them
to say.• Make sure you have used Science Key Words e.g. Natural
Selection, Mutation, Evolution etc.• Have all place names or names of organisations got capital
letters?• Check you have given your work a title, put your name on
your work and written out the learning objective “To explain that new forms of a gene result from mutation.
• To evaluate the reasons for change in a species”• Now email your work to your teacher:
