I’msureyouknowabouteventsliketheLondonMarathon.Youprobablyhaveafriendorfamilymemberwhohastakenpartinonebefore.TheymayevenhaveraisedmoneyforOxfambydoingit!But,haveyoueverwonderedwherethemoneythatgetsdonatedgoes?IknowIhave.So,IaskedOxfam!And,tobehonest,it’sspentonpreFymucheverything.OxfamusesdonaHonsfrompeopletoprovide

cleanwater,food,sanitaHon,shelterandtohelpfarmersimprovethecropstheygrow.Rightnow,Oxfamishelpingmorethan11millionpeoplein51countrieswithyourdonaHons.Threeofthosepeopleare11-year-oldHamoudiandhisyoungersistersSidraandYasmine,wholiveinZaataricampinJordanalongwith80,000otherSyrianrefugeesjustlikethem.Youcanseetheminthisphotograph(above),collecHngdrinkingwaterfromawatertankintheircampsuppliedbyOxfam.Hereareafewmoreofthose11millionpeopleOxfamhashelpedinthepast

IfeellikeI’mdoingallright,thanks.BeforeIgetintoit,though,IjustwanttosayhowinspiringitistolearnhowthemoneytheLondonMarathonraiseswillbehelpingpeopleallaroundtheworld.It’sincredibletoknowthat,inafewweeks,I’llberunningtheworld’smostfamousmarathontohelpOxfammakeadifferencetoevenmorelives.

ALL THAT RUNNING... I’veruntwohalfmarathonsbeforeand,aVerbothofthem,IsaidthatI

never,ever,wanttorunafullone.Andyet,hereweare,afewweeksawayfrommedoingjustthat.Thetraininghasbeengoingreallywell,though!I’mdoingmybesttocoverthemilesthatIneedtoeachweekwhilealso

tryingtoavoidhurHngmyself,whichisprovingdifficult,andIcan’tbelievehowquicklytheHmeisgoing!I’vegotjustoversixweeksunHlthebigday,andthatseemslikeavery,verysmallamountofHme.

INJURIES I’verecentlystartedseeingaphysiotherapisttoworkonmyknee–itseemsIdidaliFlebittoomuchrunningin

February!IhadtohaveasportsmassageonmylegstoeasesomeofthesorenessthatIhadinmymuscles,butIdon’tknowwhytheycallitamassagebecauseit’sprobablythemostpainfulexperienceI’veevergonethrough!

FUNDRAISING Themostimportantthing–andthereasonthat35,000peopleruntheLondonMarathoneveryyear–istoraiseasmuchmoneyaspossibleforcharity.Asthetrainingisslowingdownbeforeraceday,I’mstarHngtofocusmoreonfundraising.ThebestwaytoraisemoneyintheFirstNewsofficethesedaysiswithloadsofcakeso,thisweek,everybodydonnedtheirovenmiFsandapronsandbakedandbakedtohelpsupportme!Ifyouandyourschoolmatesfancydoingsomethingsimilarthenthatwouldbeamazing–anyexcuseforacakesale!
