Installation: archive o documentation related to the project (old and contemporary press,
books, photographic evidence, drawings, copper plates, spy material, varied material),
2007-2010
Ovni Archive is an installation by Rosell Meseguer developing a metaphorical dialogue on
espionage between two periods: a past that coincides with the history o espionage carried out
during the Cold War and our present. The project is part o a body o work generated by the
artist based on research that has previously led her to explore the locations o military orts and
bunkers as deensive sites or shelters, extraordinary orms o military power that lead us into the
sophisticated world o espionage, its inventions, revolutions and conficts, which serve the artist
to open tunnels in time to connect current and past events. The term Unidentied Flying Object(UFO) is used here as a metaphor or the impossibility o decoding or publically understanding
documents orming a nations security-privacy. The project shows documents, photographs o
peculiar objects and other archives linked to the world o espionage, taking into account that
it is impossible or them to be completely legible, given that they hide an essential part o the
inormation. For Rosell Meseguer, to operate inside the archive and with its representations is
an attempt to negotiate with reality and de-territorialize power.
Rosell Meseguer (Orihuela, Spain1976) holds a PhD in Fine Arts rom the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. In 1997 shestarted to work with alternative photographic processes, which became the subject o her thesis and experimentation ormats inher art work. It all began by going down into a min e as a child; a real labyrinth o tunnels. Those journeys, rom salt in salt minesto shipyards, were the root o my attraction to underground worlds and coastal settings; a tracker o vestiges and documentsrom the past. Currently she is pro essor o Image Technologies I at the Fine Arts School in Cuenca. In her visual arts pro jects, thepresence o 19 th century photographs combined with digital techniques and other visual arts areas, like painting or installations,is undamental.

Video-instalacin compuesta por dos proyecciones. DVD color y sonido. Loop. 60, 2004-2005
Uriel Orlow (Zurich, Suiza 1973).
Ruth Maclennan (Londres, Reino Unido 1969).

Video installation comprised o two screenings. Colour DVD and sound. Loop. 60, 2004-2005
Satellite Contactis a journey deep inside one o the most extensive national archives in the world,
The National Archives (the ocial archives o the British Government). For an hour, two video cam-eras move along at the speed o the mechanism responsible or searching documents throughout the
archives titanic structure. From the innermost and most protected areas entire rooms that serve as
sae deposits- crossing long tunnels, passing through walls and ceilings, on to the hustle and bustle
o the outside world: the reerence and reading rooms. The collaboration between Uriel Orlow and
Ruth Maclennan has resulted in an apparently simple, direct piece that manages to bring to lie a
tangible, recognizable recreation o the complicated apparatus structuring the archive. Through this
work, one can penetrate the border o the archive, approaching it in a concrete, limited way that is
also ontological and poetic.
Uriel Orlow (Zurich, Switzerland 1973). He studied Fine Arts at Central Saint Martins College o Art & Design, in London. Ater that, he didpost graduate studies in Philosophy, Literature and Aesthetics at the University o Geneva, completing his doctorate in Fine Arts at The SladeSchool o Art (UCL) and the University o the Arts, in London. Uriels work aims to address the impossibility o narrating or representing thepast and he does so by going to places where history and memory are ound, in search o blind spots in the production and distribution oknowledge. He has taught Fine Arts at Central Saint Martins College o Art & Design and Goldsmith College, at the University o London, and currently he is a researcher at the University o Westminster in London.
Ruth Maclennan (London, United Kingdom 1969). She studied Fine Arts at Edinburgh College o Art and got her Masters Degree in Fine Artsat Goldsmiths College at the University o London. Her work deals with questions about identity, using perormance and language to explorethe conditions that aect how individuals are defned. She has collaborated with Uriel Orlow on various occasions, approaching archives as bothrepository or physical storage and symbol or metaphor through which one can sink into an understanding o the past and the uture.

User Group Disco.

User Group Disco. The Hall of Sculpturesby Elizabeth Price, is the second episode in a set o works with in
the ramework o the series New, Ruined Institutethrough which the artist shows us a portrait o a ctitious
institute, a museum o the uture where humans have no presence other than the belongings let behind
when they disappeared. The route begins in the sculpture hall, the entrance to a collection o arteacts,
remains, and abandoned waste or which a new meaning must be ound -stripping them o the vices we
inherit as consumers-, a new place to show them, and a dierent way o exhibiting them and reaching an
agreement about how to taxonomize them. The resources the artist uses to generate this uturistic vision
do not come rom any existing collection or archive; instead, they are a sort o conceptual collage based
on a personal selection o objects, with a sort o narration superimposed on them, in apocalyptic tones,
that uses extracts rom essays and stories by Theodor Adorno, Edgar Allan Poe and Jorge Luis Borges and
a sound composition, by Jem Noble, combining tunes by The Cure and Desmond Dekker, as well as lm
scores by John Carpenter.
Elizabeth Price (Yorkshire, United Kingdom 1966) She studied Fine Arts at Ruskin School o Art, Oxord University, and a Masters Degree
in Fine Arts at the Royal College o Art in London. Currently Elizabeth Price is a proessor at Kingston University in London. The ambitiono my artistic practice is to generate, render and present strange bodies o historical material; by bodies o historical material I meancollections o art and objects, archives or more usually, a hybrid o these. By strange I mean ractured, sot, disordered, taxonomicallyunhygienic. I generate these bodies slowly, over many years, through the production and dissemination o diverse materials and aects- some o which might be considered conventional art works, others which might tend to be regarded as ephemera and documentation- but all o which have been conceived as signifcant elements, or ragments in the task o assembling the whole.
