• $38 million in grants awarded to 220 school districts

• Targeted to under-performing high schools• Funding provided for programs designed to

increase student achievement and college readiness and improve graduation rates

• Provides funding for innovative, schoolwide improvements, covering all aspects of a high school’s operations

• Funding to build capacity for schoolwide reform at high schools that have been designated as low-performing under the Texas Accountability Rating system

Texas High School Project—Early College High School Initiative

• Establishes 15 small high schools that integrate college/K-12 instructional programs, enabling students to graduate with an Associate’s degree or 60 hours toward a baccalaureate degree

• Schools target Hispanic and African American students and first-generation college-goers

• Funds the redesign of existing comprehensive high schools into smaller, focused learning communities
