We’ve had no place for that word since the day Ed Creske founded the company as Wausau Tile & Terrazzo in 1953. And looking back, there was no way we wouldn’t succeed.
Over time, as innovation and customer demands drove us this way and that, tile led to terrazzo stair treads. Extra cement from those treads led to experimenting with pavers. Pavers led us to precast concrete. And when a new chain named McDonald’s needed furniture, we didn’t make furniture. Well, we didn’t make furniture yet – not until we sketched it out, right on the spot, on a napkin, and that first table gave way to a new site furnishings division. No, none of that stopped us from growing.
Before we knew it, Wausau Tile introduced Tectura Designs.
Forward-thinking architects and designers began to take notice, and soon enough there was no end in sight. From Mount Rushmore to Times Square, those visionaries accepted no substitutes for our elegant and durable pavers, custom precast concrete, site furnishings, custom precast terrazzo and terrazzo tile.
The name Tectura Designs represents an undying commitment to quality craftsmanship and attentive service. Our promise is innovation, because your visions demand it, and there’s no other way to bring big ideas to life.

Tectura Designs’ origins date back to 1953, when a terrazzo contractor named Ed Creske founded the business as Wausau Tile & Terrazzo in his two-car garage. It wasn’t long before Wausau Tile added concrete architectural pavers to its impressive portfolio, and the name became synonymous with strength and longevity – traits exemplified by its stout and striking machine-pressed pavers.
Over the ensuing decades, as Wausau Tile continued to demonstrate its undying commitment to quality and innovation, a new brand was born. Tectura Designs emerged as the new name for America’s premier architectural products, and with it came a slew of added capabilities in paver manufacturing.
The same high-quality and time-tested concrete pavers that helped establish our reputation as an industry-leading company are now made bigger, stronger and faster, with reduced lead times, increased capacity, easier installation, more sizes and thicknesses, and endless possibilities for customization.
Tectura Designs’ design-forward products are still made by our team of skilled and dedicated craftsmen near Wausau, Wisconsin. QUATTRO SERIESThe Quattro Series combines the beauty of porcelain with the proven performance of
Tectura Designs’ concrete architectural pavers, featuring Tectura Designs’ exclusive
four-color blending technology. Tectura Designs is the only domestic manufacturer
capable of producing pavers with this state-of-the-art process, which brings even the
most complex color schemes to life. The Quattro series is available in ten standard colors,
and custom four-color blending offers endless possibilities. All ten standard colors are
available in four different finishes; blasted, unblasted, slate and woodgrain.

EXPRESSIONS SERIESThe Expressions Series’ softer palette is made by coloring the cement matrix with small
to medium-sized aggregate. These strong, economical pavers feature a uniform, slip-
resistant surface and can be installed on-grade or on roof decks using Tectura Designs’
exclusive pedestal system.

OCEAN VIEWOcean View pavers – also referred to as shell, shell aggregate, seashell, or coral pavers –
are made from hydraulically pressed concrete and bring laid-back beach styles inland,
offering a series of subtle and versatile colors.

Made from pressed concrete, Stoney Creek pavers are available in a variety of factory-
sealed, mottled colors with simulated natural stone surfaces – offering rock-solid style at

TEXTURED GRANITE
Exterior Terrazzo marries the elegant ground finish of interior terrazzo – and can be made
to match existing tile – with the durability of concrete pavers, making it a popular pick for
transitioning from outdoor to indoor settings. The Exterior Terrazzo series can be installed
in any standard paver method, or mortar set with grouted joints for a monolithic look.

BREATHING NEW LIFE INTO A HISTORIC ATTRACTION
Steeplechase Park was one of Coney Island’s
most popular attractions early on in the
20th century. As the park’s allure slowly
faded, Steeplechase Plaza was constructed
to restore its standing as a historic leisure
and entertainment destination overlooking
Brooklyn’s cityscape.
The revitalization called for a total overhaul of
the neglected grounds. Enter Tectura Designs.
Employing a mix of light and dark UltraFace
hexagonal pavers with Blasted Glass paver
accents, a series of dazzling, intertwined
patterns now grace the popular grounds,
made possible by the Tectura Designs’ extra
-tight manufacturing tolerances. Today’s
Steeplechase Plaza harkens back to the
original days of amusement park fun.
