    There are several architectural organizations at national and international level whbringing the architects from different regions together and provide a platform for eideas between them.

    The main aim is the betterment of the architectural profession and professionals adevelopment of the society.

    These organizations hold conferences, organize competitions, provide funds for arcresearch and education and also ensure cooperation among architects from all par

    Various awards in different categories promotes healthy competition among architencourages new research and methodology and new ideas.

    Indian Institute of Architects (IIA)

    Brief Introduction

    The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is the national body of Architects in Ind20,000 members. It was established in 1917 with its headquarters in Mumbai.

    In 1917, a group of people who were past students of architecture ofSir J.J. schto form themselves into an association and it was decided to christen the infantstudents association

    In 1922, it announced the formal inauguration of the rechristened associatarchitectural studentsassociation in Mumbai.

    Its affiliation to the Royal Institute of British architects in 1925 and re-conobjectives it was converted to IIA in the year 1929.

    The institute today has more than 20000 members.

    IIA has six classes of membership:-

    ARCAsiaBrief Introduction

    ARCASIA originated initially during the 1967 Commonwealth Association of ArcDelhi Conference.

    An urgent need was felt for the establishment of a regional centre that wouldenvironmental design and unity among the six Asian member Institutes of theInstitutes (the founding members) were India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Malaysia, SiKong.

    The First Council (1969-1974) held in Hong Kong in September 1970 resassemblies of the National Institutes of the Asian region of the CAA and AR

    called the Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA).

    South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation SAARC

    SAARC is an eco-political organization of 8 South Asian

    nations, which was established on 8 December 1985 for

    The UIA Member Sections are grouped geographically according to five regions: WEastern Europe and the Middle East, the Americas, Asia and Oceania, and Africa

    THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

    The UIA General Assembly is made up of delegates from all the unions Member Smeets every three years. The assembly examines reports from Council on activitieduring the triennial period as well as propositions, its lays out triennial governancethe union and elects Bureau and Council members.

    COUNCIL MEMBERSFour representatives from each region are elected to serve as UIA Council Membe

    Council meets twice a year.

    BUREAU MEMBERSThe president, immediate past president, secretary general, and treasurer along wregional vice-presidents make up the UIA Bureau, which meets twice a year, in besessions. The Bureau members are also part of the UIA Council.

    THE PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE COMMISSION

    Establishment of the Professional Practice Commission and approved its program -Responsible for setting international standards of professionalism in architecturemutual recognition of architectural competences at world level.

    CAA ( Commonwealth Association of Architects )Brief introduction
